Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Anyone else think it was weird that Joran Monmouth being announced as a spy was absolutely huge news and got completely glossed over?
yeah we knew this at the very start and then he saved her from getting taken out and from then on he has been loyal to her

That bloody whore who has annoyed me for the last whole season comes in and tries to feck up Tyrion? My blood was boiling

As much as the dragons and the white walkers are integral to the show, somehow over the course of the last season and this I am getting less and less bothered by them. The politics among humans is what makes this such a great show. Its almost wouldn't make much of a difference to me if they existed or not.

I just found out that the actress that plays her used to do full blown porn. Good girl.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned... She pissed me off too, Cersei probably threatened her but to turn on Tyrion to that extent is something I never expected.

That entire scene leading up to Tyrion's 'confession' was brilliant.

Lads what is Indykaila saying about the rest of the season?

Great episode and great season thus far. Loved Stannis' new sigil, awesome

And he should stop being ungrateful towards everyone but Melisandre. It was Davos Seaworth who actually got him the funds and put him back in the game.

I also know that most people are bored of Daenerys' story, but realistically she's doing the right thing. In fact, if she finds out that both the Lannisters and Stannis have no income and depend highly on the Iron Bank for money, she should let them fight and destroy each other. In the previous episode we learned that the mines of Casterly Rock haven't produced anything for 3 years and the Lannister gold has dried up. On Sunday it was the first time we saw Tywin referring to Daenerys as a "menace that needs to be dealt with sooner than later".

Tywin is unlucky cause Joffrey's death has prolonged Olenna's stay in the capital. She and Oberyn are clever, important players and they both have their own agendas. I would love to see the Martells' and the Tyrells' reaction if they find out the Lannisters will soon be out of money. This alliance is really hanging by a thread.

Finally, well done Tyrion i never saw that coming. But i think that beyond the emotional outburst it shows the little fella's cleverness and strong survival instincts. As for the combat my guess is
we'll probably see Jamie being involved. It's Tyrion's best chance cause Tywin would not have his son and heir killed. If i remember well, during the first season, Lysa denied cause of Jamie's absence and then Tyrion asked for a volunteer. Furthermore Tywin's "now we're fecked" face at the end says a lot imo.

Any ideas who's the little bird who tells everything to Lord Varys about Daenarys' moves?

I think it's an actual bird, like a pigeon.

I wonder if Lord Varys knows granny Tyrell was involved in Joffrey's death? If he could quote what the Hound said many miles away, couldn't his birds tell him what was said in Kings Landing?

Don't know but the crosstalk between Tyrion and Varys has a significance we can't fully comprehend right now...

Tyrion: You once said that without me the city would've faced certain defeat, you said that histories would never mention me, but you would not forget. Have you forgotten Lord Varys?
Varys: Sadly my Lord, i never forget a thing...

Sadly for whom?

That Tyrion trail scene was very powerful I thought. It was done so perfectly, first time we seen that side of Tyrion in a while.

It really is amazing how your perspective of something can change when you watch it for a second time. I remember Tyrion looking so forlorn approaching that stand.....

It would be better if they didn't.

Pointless fact of the day: the Whitewalkers' makeup takes 5 hours to do every time, with the process starting at 1am in time for filming at 6am.

Bit of a cheat that you can demand trial by combat towards the end of your trial, isn't it? You'd imagine that nearly every trial would go that way once things look dodgy for the defendant, it's basically giving you two shots at being found innocent.

Or if you're a kick-ass swordsman, you can just go around committing whatever crime you want, request trial by combat, chop up your opponent quick smart and carry on with your crime spree!

Or am I missing something...?

It's a religious thing. From the GoT wiki:

A trial by combat is a means by which a party can prove their innocence when accused of a crime in the Seven Kingdoms. In lieu of a standard trial where a lord hears testimony from the involved parties and makes a ruling, one or all parties may choose the option of a trial by combat.

In a trial by combat the accused may represent themselves in combat or, if unable (such as if they are female, injured, crippled, a dwarf, or otherwise incapacitated), may ask for a champion to represent them. The victorious party is held to have had his or her case judged fairly by the Seven (or other faiths such as the Old Gods or the Lord of Light) and has proven their innocence in the eyes of the gods. Hence, they are cleared of all charges.

I was thinking about this and came to the conclusion that there wouldn't be a trial for every single crime committed. If they know he did it then off with his head, well at least I hope that's what happens rather than a trial by combat every time!

Yeah good point, summary execution would probably occur when the culprit is obvious.

She's so annoying isn't she?

Maybe because I'm a brother (and have no sisters) I do really enjoy how Jamie backs his little brother Tyrion. Hope it's him who fights for Tyrion, think it will be as in a previous episode Bronn told Jamie how Tyrion wanted Jamie to fight for him last time. It's funny, Jamie doesn't seem to care at all about his kids, but hasn't a big attachment to his siblings (in different ways).

On another note, Tywin is such a gangster. He just gets his way all the time. He knew this was a path to control Jamie, and I don't think he ever intended for Tyrion to be executed, so used this to get his way from Jamie. But I think Tyrion knew this and wanted to again, stick two fingers up to Tywin.

Liked how they finally showed the Iron Bank. Hope they become more and more important as we hear them being talked about in every episode.

Shame how Dany's part has become stale, her scenes (and Tyrion's) were what got me glued to the show when I started watching, just got a bit boring now.

Edit: Shea does porn. She is no more annoying.

Sibel Kekilli? Don't think she was a porn star.

EDIT: Google Images has proved me wrong. Very, very wrong.

Watching Tywin's face as he reacted to Tyrion's demand for a trial by combat was priceless. He had expected Jamie to make the deal to rule Casterley Rock (and continue the Lannister bloodline) in return for sparing Tyrion's life. Tyrion has ruined that plan, and the Lannisters' future is not as certain as Tywin thought it was when Jamie left Tywin's room just a few minutes ago.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned and I could be completely wrong but Brazil's slogan for the world cup seems to be a Game of Thrones reference.

"Brace Yourselves! The 6th Is Coming!"

She may have been involved but it was Tywin who ordered her to be taken to the Tower of the Hand during Joffrey's nameday party I believe.
