Hopefully the guy who makes those Obertan compilations will change the cheesy Euro music before updating today's highlights.

Funny the pitch is shit and then he decides to not slip around like Bambi on ice...

Great play for our second tonight. Keep it up lad.

He looks class, other teams/managers will have taken note of him now, I hope he can handle the extra attention he will undoubtedly attract, if he can we are one lucky team to have him

Does look more the part with every game. Valencia and him both on top form is an exciting prospect

He has been threatening to find his cutting edge in some of his last few appearances. This time the end product was there for all to see and it allowed Michael Owen to finish off Wolfsburg to secure the victory.

He looks a very talented winger that can create something out of nothing. He can develop his game further and become a goalscoring weapon as well. The future is bright for our attack.

He looked the part from day one for me, he showed me he had a brain to go with his undeniable talent and that's a big deal to get into this team.

Shame Nani hasn't got the same footballing brain.

Fancy shmancy dribbling stuff for the first one followed by making the correct decision in playing an intelligent, early pass for the second. It's the latter quality which makes me think he's a real find.
Especially good at that in the final third.

Two assists showed different parts of his game.

He also had made the right pass after the "Fancy shmancy dribbling stuff", which is quite encouraging.

"end product" I believe is the often used word for such things.

Nor does he have Obertan's ability to run at defenders. In that sense, Obertan is a bit more Ronaldo-esque than Nani has ever been.

Imagine the product in 3 yrs...for 3 million...tidy bit of bizness

Brilliant performance today...apart from the obvious eye-catching dribbling skills, this lad has something which many young wingers lack, that is, decision making. Although still learning, he already seems mature enough when it comes to what to do next, pass, dribble or cross...

is it not business?

He spelt it French style in obvious homage to Obertan.

Obertan is going to be a very good player IMO and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he makes the French squad for SA. The thing is, I don't believe he's anywhere near peak fitness. When he gets a bit stronger physically as well, he'll prove to be a great asset. So far though he does have a good brain and a bit of bottle

It would certainly explian his unwillingness to do a defensive shift.

Noticed this too. Probably a player that might be more suited to playing in a 4-3-3 as opposed to a 4-4-2.

That said, superb cameo appearance last night.

He just seems completely lost when the other team has the ball.
I don't even think it's because he's unwilling to help out, it looks more like he doesn't know that he's supposed to or how to even begin. It's like he drifts away to some happy place of his the second we're not on the ball.

I'm speculating that's what Blanc was referring to when they sold him to us for biscuits. He certainly couldn't have referred to Obertan's ability on the ball.

Either way, definitely something he can learn.

The play for the 2nd goal was excellent, but I think some people on here are getting a little OTT with the praise for the lad. He's good, but he isn't anywhere near the standard of Ronnie when he first joined us. Promising signs that he'll become a good player.

That would be a very odd reason to sell a winger so cheaply.

As you said, it's easily fixed. I reckon SAF will have beaten some defensive discipline into him before the season's out.

Well nothing really makes sense about selling a player like Obertan for £3 mil.

He looks like a clever, sensible lad from the interviews and we've seen what he can do when he has the ball, which only really leaves his daydreaming when we're not on the ball.

Unless he turns out to be some weirdo who sodomises squirrels in his free time.

for three mil he can bugger whatever woodland creature he likes. although i would recommend he stays clear of badgers...but seriously, that does seem his only real weakness so far(the defensive lapses as opposed to bestiality), and hopefully something SAF will iron out. He just seems to be able to produce the unpredictable which is something none of our other players can do, so im really hoping he builds on his thoroughly decent start for united. Quietly confident about him...

Depends on a lot of things really...for example about how many years had he left on his contract and whether or not he had clashes with someone at the club, just to cite two possibilities.

Let's not forget how relatively "poor" was Obertan's last season when he was loaned to a second division club.

It was the same thing with Evra - when he was in his early 20's he was regarded as one of the finest left-backs in europe than he fell out of form and United landed him for a "paltry" 6 million.

It's that very ability that has most impressed me. For a player so young anytime I've seen him he has known the right times to take the defender on and just the right time to pass. Seems a proper team player and could prove to be another Fergie bargain signing.
