Gabriel Jesus | Arsenal

I wouldnt be so sure about that. Plus one of the most expensive is not the 49th most expensive player ever, you are making it sound like he is in 5th place. Going from one hyperbole to the other.

Being the 50th highest transfer fee ever is surely regarded as one of the highest ever. There have been millions of transfers over the years so top 50 is very very near to the top.

He isnt even in the top 50, seeing as he only cost 27m pounds.

Not for me, if you label it one of the most expensive transfers ever, thats not the 60th highest transfer fee. That is top 10 or top 20. Nobody talked about Schneiderlin being one of the most expensive transfers ever when he went to United for 25m, thats a ridiculous statement and totally hyperbolic. Especially nowadays, where 25m is the norm for top clubs.

City shouldn't rush him. Continue to gradually bring him along is the best bet.

With the state of their performances over the past few weeks, i'm pretty sure they'll throw him straight in. They need to mix it up and Pep will know it.

Yes but the point is he isn't some unknown youth project coming on. He's a £30 million pound player so fawning over a good touch or dribble is ridiculous.

The price is irrelevant. Anyone with two eyes could plainly see he made a difference almost immediately after coming on.

How many transfers do you think there have been in football history? If he's the 49th most expensive that woul make it probably somewhere in the top 0.000001% or lower.

He's not even one of City's most expensive transfers ever, nevermind globally. Nevertheless I'm really excited to see this guy getting some minutes. At the very least his high energy will add something to the side already, and if he chucks in some real talent as well we can really benefit from him this season.

The kid is good but City is no kindergarten these days so who knows...

It's still stupid to label him 'one of the most expensive ever'. In the modern game his price tag is nothing spectacular.

Wouldn't say stupid, just pedantically correct to extrapolate his point.

10th biggest purchase for City in the past 5 seasons. "Cheap" compared to Sané.

Yeah, he seems a good fit for Guardiola's pressing style - I just worry a little that with our inconsistent form that people will expect too much of him too soon.

Maybe the only guy at City that likes David Meek.
He's going to inherit the Earth some day.

I'm guessing Kelechi is going to be disposed like yesterday's trash with the arrival of this shiny new toy.

On a serious note, with his arrival we still only have 3 strikers in the senior squad so Iheanacho will still get game time.

Sane, Jesus, Iheanacho and Stones (yeah yeah I know he's the Cafs battering ram at the moment). If Pep can develop these 4 players and build a younger spine to the team (mostly MF), Peps work could well be best seen either during his final season or after his 3 year contract, whether he's still at City or not.

I was impressed by him on Saturday (unfortunately).

Hopefully they will have too many players for Pep to be able to work out where to fit them..

Nothing to fear here. This was Spur's worst performance of the season so far, very disorganized. They were knackered by the time he came on which gave him more freedom to operate. Think it will be very easy for the opposition to bully him out of the game. We may see flashes of brilliance here & there but he'll largely be an irrelevance.

I think he means a club with Champions League Pedigree, a History of trophies. You know, a big club.

Gotcha now. By the way, City have a history of trophies too - we won our first before United back in 1904.

Cheers ;) I've got a pic of Real Madrid's trophy room somewhere - joking aside, that's something else. Friggin' cheapskates could've done with changing the threadbare carpet in the press conference room though!

That's classic Madrid thought isn't it? Concentrate on anything shiney and forget about the functional and essential.

True enough. Still came as a surprise though when I sat in the manager's chair in the press conference room. They might've replaced it now - it was back in 2012 when Mourinho was still their manager.

Facts are facts.
