Gaa 2013

McQuillan fecked Laois over in 2005 v DUBLIN. He wrote off 2 minutes of injury time for a 45, in favour of DUBLIN. He's as Dublin-centric as they come. If the GAA walked into Navan Road Social Welfare office and grabbed some lad with a 6-pack of Dutch Gold and a Dublin jersey on him, they wouldn't find someone more biased.

'kin joke.
Didnt he ref last years semi final between the two that Mayo won?

Well I for one couldn't be fecked who the ref is.

Until we lose, that is. The cnut.

All Ireland Football final 2013: Dublin v Mayo

Mayo Titles 3, last 1951; Runners-up 10, last 2012.
Head-to-head record is surprisingly sketchy, given the number of provincial titles each side has one. Dublin has 52 Leinster titles and Mayo has Mayo has 45 Connacht titles.

Trivia* [includes all info. to hand]
Dublin have won more All Irelands pre-Sam (14), than post-Sam (9).
Dublin and Mayo have drawn twice in All Ireland semifinals 1955 & 1985.
On both occasions, the other semifinal was also a draw and involved Kerry, who would go on to win both finals against Dublin.
The highest score (37) between the two was the 2006 semifinal, which finished Mayo 1-16 Dublin 2-12.
The lowest score (14) was achieved on three separate occasions - the 1921 final, the 1924 semifinal and the 1955 drawn semifinal - and each of these are included in the 68 AI series matches of 14 points or less.
Dublin's biggest win was the 1921 final 1-9 0-2, while Mayo's was last year's semifinal 0-19 0-16.
Mayo's conversion rate of provincial titles to All Irelands is the lowest of all the teams that have won at least one: 6.7%. Dublin is 5th with 44.2%

Brian Cody the aul' fecker is going to give it another lash next year!

Seriously though he's some operator, 9 All-Irelands, 12 National Leagues in what's going to be his 16th year as Kilkenny manager is an unbelievable record and that's only around around a 1/4 of what he has achieved as a player and a manager.

Liam Sheady the former Tipp All-Ireland winning manager, current pundit and next door neighbour of Nahelai is looking like he'll be the man to replace Limerick manager John Allen. A good safe bet and I doubt Limerick will go backwards under him, seniors beating Tipp and Cork on the road to a Munster title this year and their minors winning a Munster as well so things are looking rosy enough down in Limerick.

Got a ticket! But am giving it to me old man, as I haven't been to one game all year. If I get another though, I'm off.

Pity the two of ye couldn't get two tickets together but if your father went to a few games this year already and you gave him your ticket well then fair play. You might be lucky yet though and get another one and you could possibly swap tickets prior to the match and end up together yet. I did that last year for the replay with a lad in Quinns, gave him my canal end for his two hill tickets. There does be always people travelling up together but do have to go their separate ways for the match.

Flights booked. Caved.

Will either be my best decision or worst decision ever. Will decide on the return flight next Monday.

Can't fecking wait, to see family, friends and an All Ireland title for Mayo. Could be some weekend.

Fair play to ye. Now to ruin your weekend!

You coming into Knock?

No, Dublin. Landing Friday morning, leaving Monday morning. Have the whole family coming to Dublin to meet me, not making it back to Mayo at all. Should be a great weekend.

Are you going to the minor game?

Nah, I've not been to a county game all year and I'd feel like a total cnut taking a ticket even if I could get one. I'll watch it in the pub.

Yeah there's part of me feeling like a total cnut now too. Oh well - a double for Mayo would solve that pretty quickly.

That was some match last week. I just happen to be staying in Ennis to go on the beer the day after the replay. It'll either be hopping if there's a homecoming or it'll be absolutely dead.

You live away from home man. People coming home for all-irelands is part of the tradition and I wouldn't deny you your ticket. I'm in Ireland all year and have no excuse other than a lack of time and money for not going. I've been to plenty of club games and even a couple of Sligo matches but no Tyrone games.

Next year!

There'll be no fear of Ennis being dead either way, it's a great spot for a session. I'm just after watching Clare annihilating Antrim 2-28 to 0-12 in the U21 final in Thurlas there this evening so there'll be plenty of porter drank in that neck of the woods this evening too. Wetting their throats for the arrival of Liam next weekend hopefully.

They'll all be out on the Saturday though! Would they not be all despondent on the Sunday if they get beaten?

Myself and the brother are going down on the beer, and hopefully a couple of my brothers in law will show up (my missus is from down there). We are not actually going on the beer in Ennis, but we are going to Ruan in mid-afternoon. We'll probably end up in Ennis either way.

Even if they lose thousands will turn out to welcome them home in Ennis on Sunday, ye'll probably be the only two sitting above at the counter in Maloneys in Ruan!

The problem with going to Maloneys is that it mightn't even be open! Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Hopefully either there or Purcells will be open. But the plan is the meet my brother in law who is a local and hopefully he will bring the lads with him. My brother loves going for pints in country pubs in the middle of nowhere!

Fair Juice to the Galway senior camogie team beating the cats in the All-Ireland final today. I remember the last time they won it back in 96' that night I was in Brendan Lynskey's that mad bastard of a hurler in the 80's pub in Ballinasloe scuthered drunk and doing my living best to try and get a leg over the Galway goal keeper, she was a right ride. Needless to say I had no luck. Now I've a hag and an ankle biter and getting ready to watch Coronation Street, mighty too how times and things change.

Anyone know when the teams are due to be announced?

Anyone care to offer their predictions too?

Mine - Mayo by 2 in the minor, Dublin by 2 in the senior.

I can't see Horan or the Mayo lads leaving it after them this time. I'll go with it being a tight enough affair up until the last 10 or 15 minutes when Mayo will pull away and win by a comfortable margin of 4 points. Dublins 2 missed goal chances or sitters in the early stages of the match proven costly in the end.

As much as I hate to say it I think it will be Mayo's year and your money on the trip home will be well spent. I think Mayo will cause havoc on the Cluxton kick out and exploit the lack of pace in Ger Brennan.

No sign of second ticket. I'll just ask the lads around and get the party tae pot out.

You'd be more than welcome my good man. I leave for work at 1.30ish but if you're around before that call in for a brew!
