Gaa 2013

Christ, I said it wasnt pretty and not what you want to see. I acknowledged that.

What I said was that all that gritty shite started when Donaghy came on. Before that it was relatively clean.

By "gritty shite", I assume you are referring to Johnny Cooper tripping up Gooch, Philly McMahon kicking Gooch in the head, and now ROC eye gouging Gooch.

And you see the introduction of Donaghy as the catalyst for that? Or is it more likely that Dublin started targeting Gooch a bit?

The Cooper trip was very cynical and should have seen him sent off (2nd yellow). Gouging is absolutely disgusting and ROC should be hammered for it. fecking biting and gouging....these Dubs must love da Pool! As for the kick by McMahon, was that when Gooch was tripped?

I'm not going to get into a tit for tat, "but Kerry did this and that", because I'm not a 12 year old. From where I was, the game was relatively clean up until Donaghy came on, and the Kerry fans in front of me had the same thought as me. When he came on, they were dissapointed and complained he'd only turn it into a fight and would lead to Kerry hoofing it long. Both happened. No team was better or worse than the other imo. Maybe they were, but I didnt concentrate on that too much because, y'know, the best game of the last 10-15 years was reaching its climax.

It was rotten by O'Carroll(I'll have to review the video footage to see if it was indeed an eye gouge).

Just to give a quick background on it from what I remember, O'Carroll was blocked off by Gooch off the ball when trying to run up the pitch, and they tangled, Gooch fell to the ground and O'Carroll held him down. Not nice at all, as I've said, but don't act like Kerry are angels and have never done a bad thing on a pitch in the last 10-15 years.

Damn, I'm starting to be lowered to the 'he did this/that' shite, so I'll stop.

Cooper tripping gooch should have resulted in a second yellow as was said at the time. That picture of the gouge looks very ugly indeed and if accurate then retrospective action should be take against O'Carroll. Looks very sadistic with the laughing face and all that. The kick to the gooch from mcmahon I thought was accidental. Either that or he was extremely oportunistic.

Well your whole post is kind of contradicted by the fact that your first reaction to a relatively innocent post by me was "it was all Donaghy's fault". Your entire response since I posted the link to the picture has been to deflect off what I posted.

All I said was "this looks bad" in my first post, my second post then said that ROC "appeared to" gouge Gooch. Your response was to acknowledge the incident but attempt to deflect it to "sure it was all grand til that bollix Donaghy came on". Which is disingenuous, as it ignores the much more serious matter at hand.

I don't really care either way, I wouldn't want ROC banned for it as I believe there is no video evidence so context can't be proven - a picture may paint a thousand words but at the same time it only paints a thousand words.

I just find it interesting that poor IWTK got slated for his deflection from the Tyrone incidents, and a lot of the slating came from Dub fans (not necessarily you) who portrayed a holier than thou kind of attitude, as the modern purists of the game. Same type of thig with a Dublin player, and it's immediate deflection again. I'm surprised we haven't heard the Martin Penrose but-he's-not-that-type-of-lad defence yet.

Tribal nature of GAA I guess. Wouldn't change it for the world, but interesting nonetheless.

Agree with that. Just used it as a stick to beat the Dub with - if I can't start at them with only three weeks to go, then what's the point?

I'm going to be pretty isolated on here as the only Mayo man, hopefully I can enlist the help of some passionate neutrals...

I thought it might a record score for a football match 6-29 = 47 points, but co-incidentally, Armagh v Leitrim produced that exact same total points haul in the Rd2 qualifiers this year.

I'd love to know what the record agg score is. The scores since the start of the millenium are much higher than before and Dublin has had some farcical wins in Leinster. Plus, the 80-minute finals back in the 70s may have produced some big scores, but I'm too lazy to look.

You gonna come home for it? I think it would be worth the expence. Both teams will go for it hell for leather. I do think Mayo will edge it though if they can get McLoughlin motoring and keep McCauley quiet.

On my way to Mayo. A whole county of feckers as precious as Gee Male. Wish me luck.

Just read no action to be taken against O'Connell. The CCCC wont pursue after Kerry didnt complain.

That's a pretty quick dismissal without much investigation. A man of the same mind as Lynk might suspect a wee bit of going soft on the Dubs here.

And also, it's not up to Kerry to complain in order for the rules to be enforced. That's just stupid. If that's what the CCCC's reasoning is, then they really are a shambles.

I agree but I'm not going to say that too loudly in the run up to the final!!

Any resident Kildare lads? Kildare board have got themselves into a bit of a mess. Any chance of the decision being reversed?

Same was done with hurling tickets on eBay. Good stuff. I've a pair spare for tomorrow and they'll be going to people who deserve them for face value.

Fair play to them, and you Feeky. Now, I'll reiterate, if anyone comes across some spares for the football final, you know who to pass 'em on to.:smirk:

That's the job. I won one in a raffle on Wednesday night and I said feck it even though Galway are in the minor final I'll give it to someone from one of the counties involved in the senior final as I remember feeling seriously pissed off last year when I knew of people from counties not involved at all just going to the final for a day out so I gave it to my little ones teacher who's from Clare and couldn't get one for love nor money. The look of joy on her face when I gave it to her was brilliant, she was over the moon.

It should be a cracking final and one impossible to call. I'll be hoping for a Clare win though, they and Davy Fitz whom I'm a big admirer of deserve it that bit more I think.

 I've Mayo people flying over from New York ticketless for it, if I get a sixth spare it's yours. ;)

Good man yourself. Although I'd have no qualms with people going for their minor team.

Fair play TBP, I've sorted people out before like that and nearly got more pleasure in doing that than in going to the game itself. It's a great thing to do.

Looking forward to the game today now too, still hoping for a Clare victory too. They are 13/10 on Paddy Power, I think that's a fair price.

My da is a cork man but they have plenty of all irelands. Hope this young Clare team win it today and Waterford in the Minor.

Surely it's not that honesty and passion he shows up and down the sidelines and in interviews etc that's the reason your calling him a lunatic De Selby?!

I've met Davy Fitz a few times and know lads well that would have had close dealings with him down through the years and he's sound out, couldn't meet a nicer lad. I admired his Cooper cap in O'Grady's Bar in Gort a few months ago (was messing) and when he was leaving he put it on my head and said that'll keep the sun out of your eyes for a while now. There's no loss on Davy at all boi!

He'll give him a yellow.

Big turnaround that. Should've taken the point imo.

Ref has made a few strange decisions for me. Cork making a come back too. Good game here.

Maybe so. He's a coronary waiting to happen anyway ;).

His team have this now by the looks of it.
