Gaa 2012

Aye, apart from the last couple of years when I was in Australia I'd be at all the Croke Park matches. As I said I'm not a big GAA man but it's a great day out when we're playing in Croker and shut those Dubs up!

you wont be shutting anyone up, we will beat you meath feckers.

Up the dubs.....:D

It's a pity that Hurling is so unbalanced. I don't think there are more than 3-4 game a year that are of any real importance.

Ah I thought you were a fellow Meath man aswell for some reason. Well then I'll enjoy watching you crying on the hill when Sheridan carries the ball over the line again.

Should be a great game

All the dross is nearly all gone now though.

We will have Cork v Offaly & Clare v Dublin next week. Then the winners of that play Limerick & Wexford in Phase 3 on the 14th. The winners of phase 3 will play the provincial runners-up on the 28th/29th.

Kilkenny could win Leinster on the 8th July and not see action for five weeks. That's when they could be caught cold....especially if it's Cork they have to face.

I live in Trim, maybe thats why you thought I was a meath man, you might have seen that somewhere.

Should be a cracker.

Some great draws thrown up in the Qualifiers. A nice wee trip to the Hyde for Tyrone and best of all the 'grudge match' between Cavan and Kildare.

No Matter what sport it is when a player defects to a rival the next game they play in just happens to be against the team they just shafted!

How is that! I'm starting to believe the conspiracy theorists!

To be honest I think the cats are too good to be caught cold.

The GAA has always been rife with conspiracies, especially the old one that as soon as a game is tied up over the 70 mins the ref will blow it up so the GAA can get the $$ from a replay.

That was a delicious draw though between Cavan and Kildare, but I'm really excited about playing the Rossies again, especially living and working so close to them, it always adds a bit of spice!

Down are 4/1 to beat Donegal (Paddy Power), worth a punt?

When will Connelly learn?

you a tyrone man? Had you down as a corkonian for some reason?
Wouldnt give roscommon much chance against Tryone.

id definatley say there was something dodge about the draw. Its too much of a coincidence.
Same as us not getting a match agaisnt England in the Soccer for years since 95 and before that we had them every 5 minutes.

Normally Id say no but after Roscommon beating Armagh at the weekend, it just might.
And as Irwinwastheking said , the draw was delicious! It would take big balls to line out against Cavan. What must his family be going through ?

I'd say it's the name! I'm not one conspiracies, but that is a cracker!

Don't forget that Armagh pushed us close, the Rossies beat them and it's at the Hyde. Tyrone hasn't traveled well in years. All the same, we bea them last year and we should again next week.

I'd say there's no chance at all. Donegal are a different animal to anyone else in the country this year. They will win another Ulster.

Headin to Croker on Sun., to cheer on Galway hurlers. Have Premium level tckts. I have been in the Premium level a few times, & I must say it is an excellent facility/day out.

A few of us getting the bus up, we'll arrive at Croker around 1.30...straight up to the (premium level) carvery for the 'aul roast beef, followed by several delicious pints of guinness!. . . then out to "Cusack stand" to watch game... then order the "express service available to premium tckt holders" half time pint ... then a few more after the game (more likely to drown sorrows)... finally, bus back to Galway, just in time to get the last of the Volvo Ocean Race festival!

Not a bad way to spend a Sunday!:drool:;) ( thanks to a wealthier relative who lets me use his premium tckts occassionally)!

Seriously, it is a great day out!.. Have any of ye been to Premium level?

(ps; Premium level is in no way connected to the corporate/prawn sandwich brigade).

Fixtures July 6/7th

MSFC Semifinal
Cork v Clare, Gaelic Grounds

AI SHC Phase II
Cork v Offaly, Pairc Ui Chaoimh
Clare v Dublin, Cusack Park

USHC Final
Antrim v Derry, Casement Park

LSHC Final
Kilkenny v Galway, Croke Park

Clare/Dublin is not an easy one to call. I'm going for Clare because I reckon they were better than Waterford last time out. Dublin aren't as bad as the Kilkenny result but they ran into a train that day. It's the psychological damage that that hammering does to them that is the question. Based on my groupings, it could be anything between Clare+15 - Dublin+5. That range too big?!?

There's a bus load of us from Gort heading up to Croker on Sunday to StG, no premium level tickets for us though!

There's a lot of people not giving Galway much of a chance but I've a feeling its going to be a lot closer than many think. Not the most consistent team in the championship but still a very dangerous team in a one off game as Kilkenny have learned in the past. If we can tighten up the defence and if Canning is firing on all cylinders I reckon we'll beat them not that we had a problem in front of the posts in the last 2 games but an on form Canning would be huge help.

Either way I'm looking forward to it and I'm going to skull back an all-merciful amount of porter on Sunday, got myself a new rig out in Pat Smyth's today for it as well, a maroon Tommy Hilfiger jumper and a pair of Wranglers, I can't go wrong.

every game i went to between 2004 and 2009 was premium level and at no cost to me.
my old boss, a tipp man has 2 premium seats bought for 10 years.
As I was the only dub working in the company he used to let me taket he tickets for every match bar the finals of both, including all the rugby and the soccer.
Great seats on the half way line.
Its the only thing I miss about the old job.

That's the spirit, & I agree, not the cakewalk some think it will be!

Clare through as they beat Dublin by a goal in hurling.

Are Wicklow any good at anything? I suspect not.

Them and Fermanagh are the only two counties to have never won a provincial title at either Hurling or football. Westmeath were part of that group but thankfully we left it in 2004. :)

We are still part of the group of 9 who have never won an Ireland in either code.

Sligo
Leitrim
Wicklow
Carlow
Longford
Westmeath
Fermanagh
Monghan
Antrim

The Clare v Dublin match was an exciting one. Clare down to 14 men a minute into the 2nd half were brilliant especially the phase where they scored 6 unanswered points. Davy Fitz got his tactics spot on when Nicky O’Connell got sent off and the Clare back line not fouling the Dublin forwards was a great help in keeping their score down too.

I didn't see the Cork v Offaly match but from checking it on aertel now and again I saw Offaly were still well in the game up until around the 15/20 min mark in the 2nd half. Cork pulled away then it seemed eventually winning by 7 pts. Final score Cork 1-26 Offaly 2-16.

So Offaly and Dublin are out of this years championship now, it would be fecking mighty if Kilkenny were be a step closer to being knocked out of it after tomorrow.

Amazing to think it's not too long ago that Tyrone and Armagh were among those numbers.

Not really, but I thought it might be fun to maybe catch a few games, but no one here in Wicklow really seems to follow GAA. It's all Liverpool flags everywhere.

what was this in reference to?

I guess its in reference to him having the odd moment of retardedness, vs Wexford last week, and Donegal in last years semi final being the two stand out incidents.

Kilkenny being destroyed by Galway in Leinster hurling final. Half time. Good to see.

Anyone watching this?
Half-time Galway 2-12 Kilkenny 0-4. Anyone have the pre-match handicap betting?

Watched a good bit of the first half, due to the rain at Wimbledon. Game over now though I'd say, so I can shamelessly watch Wimbledon!

The Galway centre back soloing out like a stook, losing the ball in midfield. Kilkenny go down and score a goal. He changed how they were playing the game.
