Gaa 2011

I was looking in the paper yesterday STG and you boys are missing some amount of the players who were in last years finals!!

I can see a hard day at the office for ye! (hope that won;t bite me on the arse)

Is it on the telly do you know? I won't get up to watch it with the broken ankle at the moment!

Just to let u know - its a 3.30pm throw-in man... feckn nearly wrote "kick-off" - thats the feckin foreign game brain-washin for ya... beware lads... beware.... :nervous:

You just got in with the Northern Sound/Mushroom lover bashing just before I did RHD.

Will we see a backlash from STG I wonder??

Plenty more jibes to go around man... :)

Cant see Stuff backlashin at all man, he wont have the strength to. Sure medics have said that there's absolutely no nutritional value in mushrooms whatsoever, and thats all the fecker eats. Guarantee ya - he's suckin on a big fat one right now...

What did I tell ya... here he is:

I see that a Tyrone Fermanagh game has once more causeed this thread to descend into petty name calling and carnage.

I like it!

I like it!

Yep!

We're Ulstermen - we do what we want :D

This threads like a midget brothel - no-one comes in unless you're a connoisseur, so we can say whatever the feck we like lads... except anything about Celtic/Rangers/Lennon/Northern Ireland Football Team/Burkas etc...

Its probably the one thread that the banter is great & there's never been any real fall-outs - except when Crerand Legend was about tho :D

I say bring him back!!

So come on RHD and Mushroom man, give us the scoreline for the weekend.

I'll go first.

Tyrone 1-13 Monaghan 1-10

Good lad, thats what i like to here. Top lad on was CL on Gaelic football & United. The mans a season ticket holder for god sake. Gettin banned can happen to any of us, if we step outside the mark. I thought i was fecked with the Lennon threads. We all bordered. But for me that was freedom of speech & the fact that shit in the North affected us, so naturally we'll have an opinion on that. Its the way it is. Us Nordies shouldnt be afraid to talk about that, but i understand the delicate nature of the subject very much so! Politics doesnt build bridges - people do! Prediction: Tyrone 3-16 Farney 1-9 Sorry Stuff. I could be wrong, but Tyrone are all out this year for Mickey!

A bold prediction!!

On the NI stuff, I know Gaz was getting a wee bit excited with us boys in the nations cup thread too. Me and him have slid into an understanding where I can take the piss out of him for being an Orange **** and he can take the piss out of me for being a fenion ****!! He's still a bit excitable though. I get the impression he's a young lad that mightn't know too much. I can say what I want in here, for there's not much chance of him seeing it unless he's a closet Antrim fan!

Fecking Catholics and their silly sports

*Leaves thread*

EDIT: NI History fascinates me, I know enough

EDIT EDIT: UP TYRONE!

Sorry about the results man, shit day all round for ya, although you've still got the back door route so keep the faith..

Something tells me we wont be going through the back door to the third sunday in september this year. :(

Ahh well last year was fun will it lasted. Marty Clarke going to be heading off to Oz again it looks like. Will be a huge loss for us.

Nice one. Caught rapid there Irwin - brilliant :lol::lol:

Its only a silly sport when Dublin win - thats the general rule man :D

I think Norn Iron history fascinates us all man, but i'm interested in Norn Iron future.. (probably John Hume line) far too many grey years for all of us & our families... thats the beauty of sport tho - took peoples minds off all the shit for a brief time in a day!

Oh & i'll second that: UP TYRONE :)

I have to agree with ye, the Redbackhanders will win...NOT!

Tyrone....... 3-16
Monaghan... 1-9

Superb!

Whats the chances we both had the same prediction eh? :smirk:

You're gonna have to come up with something better than "Redbackhanders" man.. that was very poor. I wasnt insulted at all. Pretty disappointed with that actually. Kinda feel emotional that you didnt put any effort into it :(

Us boys were talking amongst ourselves & we're wondering - is there someone else man? You havent been given us the same attention anymore. Maybe you think we've let ourselves go... :(

RTE have to get someone else to do The Sunday Game- Des Cahill's the most boring motherfecker on the face of the planet.

Yeah, he's pretty poor allright. But to be fair he is a lot better than Spillane was when he was presenting. Can't think of who should do it. Yer man that was at the boxing and started doing the premiership was all-right but he might know feck all about GAA.

And;

COME ON TYRONE. For all the Monaghan men's cheating, punching and wrestling moves the ould boys of Tyrone still prevailed. Roll on Cavan/Donegal in Clones. Hope Cavan win next weekend cos the missus is from there and I'll get on her nerves big time in the run up to the semis!

Well, congrats to ye Redhanders, well done.

IWFK, you went very close with your score prediction. As for RHD's prediction...sssshh, say nothing!

The game was not as dirty as it seems, conditions were atrocious.
Ref. did'nt do us much favours. Ye were lucky the Ref did'nt spot your defender handling the ball on the ground inside the square in the dying secs.
However, Tyrone were the better team. I was happy with our lads, at least they give us hope for the future, 8 players made their championship debut yesterday. We could cause a little trouble in the qualifiers.

I now hope , ye go on & win Sam! ... Would'nt it be lovely to see Mickey Harte (accompanied spirituly by Michaela RIP) walk up the steps of the Hogan stand & collect the Sam maguire!

Tut-tut!...... Those lovely angelic Tyrone players, with Arch-Angel McMenamin:angel: at the helm, sure why would our boys "rough em up"

STG, Your manager is giving out about the first sending off, and the yellow cards not being justified. FFS yer man should have been booked long before that anyway. The other fella that was subbed before he was red carded and a Tyrone man getting clotheslined and then yellow carded for diving.... Aye, we got all the luck from the ref.

And by the way, don't be using the media stereotype of poor wee Ricey he never hurt a fly!!

Did anyone see why Clerkin & Cavanagh were booked ? There was no way, that 2nd one was a booking, Clerkin kept his ground, Kavanagh jumped at him, anticipating a "blow" that never came!

The conditions were the prime cause of an ill tempered game . 50/50's, more loose ball than normal, had to be won! Both sides were at the niggly stuff off the ball.

Mone deserved his red card, the challenge was unacceptably high. However, if you can revisit it, yes Mone meant to take him down, but due to the low gravity stance the Tyrone player had, Mone caught him high. Mone immediately held his hands up, admitting he got it wrong!

All camera tricks from photos taken by Southern media in an attempt to dehumanise and degrade the Tyrone Defender.

Takes away his human rights, and STG I'm disappointed in you for helping perpetuate this crime!

Cheers man, and good luck to you guys in the qualifiers. I'd be great if you lads got a handy draw in the first round to give the lads a bit more experience.

The future could be bright enough for you anyway, young talent is the way to go!

That was a legitimate goal for Meath, we should have won. The injustice. The whole country will be up in arms over this

It was a goal alright... but you still would have lost by 3 man. Shit to see incidents like that tho, what was the ref doin overruling the umpires - feckin gobshite!

Best of luck in the back-door. Good to see Geraghty back aswell!

 I didnt think we'd win by that much tbh Stuff, bitta tongue & cheek, but if we'd have scored the peno we would have drifted further away from ya's imo. :smirk:

We're not great at Healy Park at all tho, at Clones it might have been an even closer game. The conditions were shit & fair play to all the Farney faithful comin up for it - pretty vocal too!

That said - the Farney played grand considering the debutants & the conditions. A little over the top on occasions & Brian got a whack in the eye by one of your lot also, which i thought was bad craic after all the shit he's been through with the detached retina & gettin back playin football again. Anyway he's fine & he played some great footbal!

Didnt think it was a good game at all. The ref spoiled it tbh. Some of the bookings were shit & the tickin off to Clerkin & Seany just before the throw-in, set the script as how the ref was gonna be an niggly arsehole.

Its different when you're not watchin it live. This deferred coverage lark was annoying. Didnt get to see it til Monday evening, as i was away for the bank holiday. I kept away from the scoreline, but just wasnt the same!

That substitution of yer man who was headin for a red was very shrewd from McEneaney, but how the feck did he get away way that. That was shit reffin altogether. Yer tall man in defence with the carrot top is one annoying cnut too, he never stopped gettin in everyone's faces & the badgering he was doin to Stevie was schoolboy shit. Stevie's been puttin up with that shit for feck know's how long - i dont think a twat like him will put him off his game & he didnt. Stevie scored some lovely points & if we can keep him fit we'll have a chance. Great to see Mugsy gettin a run out aswell. Hope that lifts him to better things!

Nice words regarding Mickey & Michaela Stuff - very nice of you indeed & the very best of luck to the rest of your campaign, fancy the Farney lads to do well in the qualifiers, so may it be a lengthy run for ya's in the summer :)

It's great to see Geraghty back! He must be taking inspiration from Giggs, 38 and still reckons he can hack it at the top.

We need some sort of technology introduced though, as much as I loved seeing us win the Leinster last year it was a disgrace the way it happened

Rule change no1> Do away with the square ball rule completely.

So many problems solved in one foul swoop. I really don't like the idea of technology being introduced into GAA. The game is mostly fine as it is and if the media stopped making so much fuss about the ref's then you wouldn't have all of the spotlight on them. Most of the game changing ref's decisions couldn't be solved by instant replays anyway, unless your gonna stop the game every time a man gets a yellow card to see if its the right decision, because normally in games things like that and frees have more impact than the odd debatable goal.

And this from a Tyrone man that got denied our first all-Ireland thanks to poor decisions about scores (non scores)!!!

Pat McEneaney was on the new GAA programme on RTE, the Committee Room (repeat on rte2, tonite 12.30). He was saying the Sq. ball rule was changed a couple of years ago ( personally, I was not aware of this). .....

...Akin to offside in soccer, you may enter the sq. after it is despatched by player in possesion.
Geraghty's goal was legal. He was outside when ball was kicked, therefore entitled to enter the sq, before ball arrived.

Previously, the rule was, you could not enter the Sq., until after the ball was in it.

McEananey went on to further say, that's the reason he allowed Benny Coulter's goal stand against Kildare in last year's semi.

Regards, doing away with Sq. ball..... I d'ont think it's a runner. You could have someone "manmarking" the keeper..... hence it would do away with the real "art of goalkeeing". You would have situatioins of players obstructing keepers intentionally & also of "maiming":nervous: that endangered species!

Never heard that variation of the rule, and if that is the case then the ref on Sunday should have some big questions to answer. Top referees should at least know the rules surely!

TBF though the RTE panel didn't have a clue either.

I've edited this post to be suitable for some f the younger Tyrone people who may view this page. Photo removed and name covered. I've been having these nightmares for years, no point in corrupting the young uns!
