Gaa 2011

Well done to all the culchies particularly Niall Corcoran, involved in helping the Dubs win their first league title since 1939.

Hip hip hoooooraaaaaay & C'mon you boys in blue!

Cork & Kerry out in munster this weekend against Tipp & Clare in the Football

Seems strange seeing the Munster Championship games so early in the campaign. Fixtures ain't right.

My aim fo the Summer is to get to as many of the Iarmhi games as possible. Made a few of thei League games, so want to get back into the championship matches for my lads

They probably want to go on holiday early man... ie - this weekend!

Good stuff on the plan, hope the kids find their West Meath tribalism..

Quite simply the worst game of Gaelic football I've ever seen in my life! Donegal and Antrim you should all be ashamed!

Only silver lining was I had Donegal backed halftime/fulltime so it was worth a few bob. Ill never get those 70mins back though!

And as good a thread as any to ask! What the hell happened Crerand Legend?? I only noticed last night he was banned. What the hell was that about?

Yeah i know man, i've been off the Caf for a bit until mid-March & only found out last month. Yeah he's been banned alright, no idea why - probably just pissed off the wrong dude & it got him banned. I liked the man alot - good poster on the Gaa thread too :(

I suppose this thread is always fairly quiet until now!
Didnt realize CL was banned! ... woow! ....a great contributer to GAA matters ......... Did he maybe object to strongly to the Royal visit, especially to Croker?;)

Yeah its quiet alright, hard to get into the Gaa when the Prem's on a knife-edge as it has been this past while, but when the Championship gets into the swing of things then we'll hopefully see quite a bit more traffic on here.

I've no idea why CL was banned, its a darn shame as he's a great Gaa man & this thread needs his like & his opinions.. same as the other regulars of course!

Personally, i just cant get into the Gaa just yet, i wasnt even that bothered about the National League this year either. I think maybe Michaela McAreavy being killed kinda put football into perspective, put a downer on it, i think it most likely did in Tyrone anyway!

Lookin forward to seeing what my own County can achieve this year, we most certainly want the Anglo-Celt again & then see where it takes us. Hopefully get to a good few games too, although goin up North during June/July in a car with Southern Irish plates can be a dodgy affair passing through loyalist areas.. pain in the fecking ass

Spot on there RHD with all comments, without doubt the Michaela tragedy certainly put a damper on GAA matters throughout Spring.

Ye looking forward to Tyrone v Monaghan in a few weeks. Personally, I am quite confident we can cause a shock in Omagh. E McEananey has totally transformed our team, despite us getting relegated. Rumour has it Tommy Freeman may delay his depature to the States.
Tyrone however, will be involved in the "business end" of things later.

Anyway, my annual predictions!

Football;

Ulster.... Down (dk horse Monaghan, have'nt the heart to leave em out!)
Connacht.... Roscommon
Leinster..... Dubs (dk horse, Laois)
Munster..... Kerry.
All-Ireland.. Dublin (dk horse, Tyrone)

Hurling;
Leinster... Galway (dk horse, Offaly)
Munster... Tipp (dk horse, Clare)
All-Ireland..Galway(dk horse, Dubs).

Its a pity allright. I know me and him had a wee tiff last year early on, but we put it behind us fairly quickly and moved on! I'd love to know what happened. I went through his last few posts and can't see anything controversial in them. He'll be missed in this thread for sure. There wasn't a lot of us here to begin with, so banning one of the main posters is a bit of a bummer.

I'd love to ask GB 3 things.

1> Why was CL banned
2> Can he be allowed back for this thread
3> Why does GB and the other Irish lads not contribute to this thread a bit?

my annual predictions!

Football;

Ulster.... Tyrone (if we get passed Monaghan I can't see Donegal or Cavan Posing too much of a problem so Ulster victory could be ours.)

Connacht.... Sligo (Will beat Leitrim easy enough and I think will get some revenge on the Rossies for last years final. Neither Galway or Mayo are flying at the minute so I think a young energetic Sligo who have been playing as a unit for a few years now will sneak the West this year.)

Leinster..... Dubs (Can't really see anyone standing in their way at all)

Munster.... Cork (It's set up nicely for the usual Cork/Kerry final. I just think Cork will have too much in the tank for Kerry at the early point in the season)

All-Ireland.... Cork (Cork for back to back All-Ireland's for me. I think if the Tyrone boys get the hunger though they could go on a personal mission to do it for Mickey or they could collapse spectacularly. Hard one to call this year, but Cork have to be favourites)

Hurling;....Nb. I'm from Tyrone so I know nothing about Hurling, but here goes!!

Leinster... Dublin (dual Leinsters for the boys in blue this year could be on the cards. Hope so for the hurlers anyway cos it's really good for the promotion of the game to have a strong Dublin team in finals)

Munster.... Tipp

All-Ireland...Kilkenny (to be back strong and take back THEIR crown)

Yeah, same as last year in the final eh?:lol::angel:

Yeah lookin forward to our opener, dont think i'll make it up tbh but you never know. Would have been handy to play it at Clones - home advantage doesnt work in Gaelic football so that doesnt bother me, and Clones is always a good day out. Its bank holiday weekend too..

Good to hear yer positive on the team & what McEneaney's been doing. Best of luck this year my man

I dont do the prediction thingy, always feel i'll jinx my own team - Tyrone & United, so i stay well the feck away from that :nervous:

Yeah i remember your tiff man, I also remember stepping in like some school teacher on the playground to separate ya's. I think we all started out havin a wee barney with CL - i did aswell, but it was great banter

3 good questions there IWTK, you should PM him. He probably got banned & the thread was deleted, that way you wouldnt see any of his posts. I've his details tho, we'd been PM'in for quite a while so got to know his name & area he's from. He said i could rent his season ticket off him anytime he's not using it, sound man is CL. He told me to look him up, so i did the other wk. Havent got round to contacting him yet tho, feel like some gay stalker or some shit...

"Hi can i speak to Crerand legend please..?"

"Who, what, who the feck is Crerand Legend? You must have the wrong number - that sounds foreign for feck sake... who's this anyway...?"

"Its Red Hand Devil.."

"Red Hand what... what the feck... listen cunto if you're some loyalist tryin extort money out of me because you know I was on the game, then you can go feck yourself.."

"Nah not at all, i used to chat to him on the Man United chat website Red Cafe, and he said to look him up - so i did & found this number..."

"Ahhhh, why the feck didnt you say that.. i'll get my husband for you now... i was just kidding about me being on the game tho... just a wee joke eh.. no point mentioning that thanks..."

"Yeah no probs.. i'm saying nuthing... stick him on & all the best love..."

You have too much time on your hands and a very active imagination.

You're right about having too much time on my hands, this things wrecked my arm to no end:

Down match is on the same time as CL final next week :(

Yeah thats right, sorry to hear that man. Feckin stubborness of the Ulster Board tryin to compete with a Champions League final is unreal. Its quite tacky tbh.

"We're not gonna get outdone by that foreign game.." nonsense...

Would be funny if all the players & fans just fecked off the pub to watch the final instead..

All the fans will do anyway. Why the feck would you pay 20quid to get into a terrace to watch a first round game when you can get into a pub for free and watch the CL final. Its the same bullshit anti-English nonsense from the Ulster Council that seen them refusing tickets to the queens appearance in Croke Park. The same Ulster Council men who wanted no Soccer or Rugby played in Croke park.

Get out of your cave lads. Your shaming us with this crap. Also I believe the Tyrone reps are the worst offenders.

On a more calm non-ranty note;

Sligo getting beat by Leitrim nearly caused me to fall of my bar-stool. Dark day for the Yeats men.

If anyone is watching the match at home can they post the Down result on here please as soon as possbile.

Due to the complete fecking ineptitude of the ulster council I will have to miss this in favour of the united match.

Well Tyrone Heads........ Yiz are hot favs next Sun...... Any nerves?

Personally, I'm fine, cause for the 1st time in 5 or 6 yrs, nothing is expected of us.

I am convinced we are being underated nationally, but I can gaurantee not by Messrs. Harte & co.

It is a pity this game is not live (can't make it to Omagh on Sun.) We actually play a nice brand of football, which will compliment Tyrone's style.

The Southerners (especially the many ABU's...[Ulster]!)
might just be surprised by the quality on offer.

I expect a close game, but yiz Redhanders will probably shade it!:p

Here's hoping I'm wrong!

I was looking in the paper yesterday STG and you boys are missing some amount of the players who were in last years finals!!

I can see a hard day at the office for ye! (hope that won;t bite me on the arse)

Is it on the telly do you know? I won't get up to watch it with the broken ankle at the moment!

PM'd you there about our Tyrone tv coverage man

BBC2 are showing us on "deferred coverage" next Sun at 7pm. So, they're showing the whole game after it finishes - what the feck is that about?

We're Ulster Champions & its a repeat of last years Ulster final ffs

Ye missing 4 or 5 marquee names, especially Tommy Freeman.

However, Eamon McEneaney totally changed our system form being mainly defensive/spoilers to a more attack minded unit.
Though relegated (only just!) from D1, the new players we brought in did exceptionally well. They seemed well suited to the new system.

The team in general at times played like they were released from the schakles.

Of course, Freeman & co will be missed, & Tyrone are hot favs, but I don't think ye'll "cakewalk" it!

Ps; As an example, keep an eye on Dessie Mone, our half-back . Possibly one of the best defenders in country in '07, but his performances rapidly deteriorated down the years. However, under our new Mngt/system, he has been outstanding!

pps: Hope the auld Hans Krankl gets better!

Still tryin to get over the other football season tbh Stuff!

Headin away campin with the missus & another couple this w/e, so i'll tape it & watch when i get home. Will try to tune in the radio aswell.

Should be a good game & yer right - we wont be takin ya's for granted thats for sure. Reckon it'll be close & its good you're feelin upbeat about it & the freshness of your squad. Best of luck

Yeah there's plenty of ABU's down south alright, but they're just afraid of goin up against real men :D

Entertaining & thought-provoking as ever man. I'll bear all that in mind :D

Yeah, like i'm gonna listen to the game on that station. It'll be biased as feck & all you'll hear in the background will be the pickin of mushrooms, the cookin of mushrooms & the insertion of mushrooms where the sun doesnt shine - which that could be anywhere in Farneyland :smirk:

If i'm gonna be listenin to the game on radio its gonna be on "Radio6Counties - MW1690"
