Gaa 2010

Commiserations to all Tyrone folk!.. I watched Mon V Tyr on TG4, it was a very good tight game. Monaghan just about deserved to win. I thought Tyrone when 4 pts up were going to pull away, but a bad error let Tommy Freeman in for a goal, it completely turned the tie! :):):)

Something similar probably happens every week in some school in the country, just front page news because of who he is. That said, because of who he is he should be especially restrained knowing it will be front page news! feckin eejit in all fairness!

Yeah, I'd say you're right.

I remember a teacher of mine cracking a t-square off a student's arse in class one time. He leathered him so hard with it that the plastic piece flew off and he was left standing there with the small wooden piece in his hand.

Well done lad this could be your year in Ulster at least. Tyrone are shit and we seem to be up to our knees in the brown stuff as well. Long road to go however

It sure is long!...... 22 yrs long in our case!.... you never know!

ps; It is noticeable in the media how they are starting to "write Tyrone off" as over the hill! :wenger::wenger::nono: ....... The fools!.... that in itself will be worth 3 or 4 pionts to Tyrone in every game, come summer!

No doubt write them off at your peril, but I do think that rebuilding will cost them this term, they are of course lucky to have something to rebuild with

Well done man, would have said that before now but I havent been on here since last friday!

Thats a fair point man. It's a huge step up from Dr McKenna to National League & a few of the new blooded lads are not quite ready yet. But from my own personal view of the present performances - we've no leadership to inspire all around the team. The likes of Seany & Brian on the road to recovery - with Seany gettin some sort of a run-out this Sunday against Cork, it'll hopefully up the games of alot of the Tyrone lads!

The media have been writing us off for aslong as I can remember - most of it coming from Dublin. They've done the same with Kerry - notably last year & we've one common-demonator with Kerry - Dublin cant beat us in the Championship & the Dublin media will always continue to drive the "Dublin-all-the way" campaign for their shitty agendas. Its like a game to them & you feel that the GAA are very welcoming of that for Croke Park revenues!

Just thought I would mention it, Derry U21s sort of hammered Tyrone U21s tonight just to round off a rather good evening

Well done, thats Derry odds on now for All-Ireland domination now :nervous::(

I not going to get carried away, just thought I would mention it, we are still light years behind the might of Tyrone and would have no chance of challenging you boys for a long time if ever at senior level
Big relegation battles for both our respective counties this weekend, anymore defeats and we both could be Divison 2 outfits next season

Two points from 4 games is pretty shit eh CL, both Tyrone & Derry have been brutal this campaign. Enjoyed the match with Cork tho, thought Cassidy played well in Midfield. Dont know how we won that game. Could as you said CL - end up relegated if the lads dont get the finger out!

Derry werent bad on Saturday night they were worst than that, a real shambles. Cassidy will need to perform a miracle to turn that team around and it is unlikely he will

Fao Crerand Legend

A big match next Sun., The Mons v Derry!... It will be a very, very tight game, maybe even a draw. The losers( if any!) can probably say "au revoir" to D1.
Amazingly 3 Ulser teams in the relegation battle + a team(Galway) managed by an Ulsterman!

Maybe the Ulster teams are looking to peak at the right time, and pacing themselves for the Championship. Still though, you want to be playing Division One football every year against the big boys & relegation is not an option for any of us!

Best of luck lads

Not a big gambler but have a couple of quid on Monaghan. Derry are a shambles and all is not well in the camp, be very very surprised if we are not relegated, Thank god I will be at OT to see us beat the scousers

We will need it. Derry camp is falling apart

Sorry to hear that. It seems to be the same old story eh man. They keep fecking it up for themselves by these internal wranglings. This has been goin on for fecks knows how long. Your head must be demented hearing about this. Stupid self-centred pricks

Anyway, suffice to say - I hope you's stay up & us too, so we can get another crack at ya's next year :D

Hard luck CL!....... it's not too often the Farney get to beat both Tyrone & Derry in the space of a few weeks!

Definitely 1 from Tyr & Derry will go down, possibly both, but ourselves, Kerry & Galway are still very much in the mix.
We have 2 very tough away games against Mayo & kerry. I feel we need 2 pts more to be safe & I am struggling to see where we'll get 'em!.... We might just scramble something out of Castlebar next Sun.!

All I know is that we were rubbish and the best team won, congrats STG. Thankfully I went to OT instead of Scotstown, good luck this could be a big year for Monaghan

Careful CL dont jinx the lad...

You only have to consider this image has happened so many years now:

Tyrone are fecked unless they beat Kerry & Dublin at Healy. Its not beyond the realms of possibility, but i'm not as confident as I would like to be thats for sure!

Hopefully Seany Cavanagh is right when he said that he's confident Tyrone can do the business & that Healy will be a fortress like it used to be :nervous:

Best of luck to Derry & congrats to Monaghan & Galway in recent weeks

The only plus I have to offer on Westmeath is that we are still in the Championship in both codes as well...

Seriously - we are in the u-21 final against Dublin. I'd take a leinster U-21 at the start of this year

below is an article in today's Irish indo;

Wednesday March 24 2010

Sean Cavanagh has admitted that 2009 wore him down, a veiled acknowledgement that perhaps there may have been some substance to manager Mickey Harte's contention in his autobiography that "the roof caved in" on the former Footballer of the Year last season, writes colm keys.
Harte's comments, centred on the player's omission from the All-Ireland semi-final team to start against Cork after complaining of flu-like symptoms on the morning of the game, have not caused a rift between the two.
In Tuam on Sunday, Cavanagh made his second seasonal appearance when he was introduced at half-time.
Afterwards, he acknowledged that 2009 had been a tiring year.
"I feel an awful lot fresher. Even mentally I feel stronger. I felt that in 2009 I was getting a wee bit tired and a wee bit stale. I'd been on the go for a long time," he said.
He acknowledged that 2008 was an "exceptional year" and that a seven-month break from the Cork game up to this month has now had serious benefits.
" I felt I needed a bit of a break. I can feel my body a bit stronger now as well. I had been playing with injections in my ankle for the past few years and my ankle hasn't felt as strong since I was 16 or 17. I'm really looking forward to building on my fitness and improving on my sharpness."
Cavanagh feels strong enough to start a match and dropped a hint to that effect after Sunday's defeat to Galway.
"With every training session and every game I can feel myself getting sharper. I don't think I'm too far away, but I suppose you'd have to ask Mickey that. I wouldn't say no to 70 minutes against Kerry in Omagh next weekend."
He appreciates that the pressure is on and that beating Kerry is imperative if they are to survive in the top flight.
"A few years ago Healy Park was a real fortress so hopefully we can make it that again," he said. "We have to push on. There was no one more disappointed leaving Tuam than us. We have to take responsibility for our own reactions, we have to start fighting back and that starts next Saturday night."

Cheers for that STG

I read that yest & was pleased that he has come out & said that, because Mickey wrote that in his book & took a bitta grief for it. For me, it wasnt just a publicity stunt to sell books, it was just Mickey telling it like it is, as he always does - complete honesty!

To some, maybe he should have just kept quiet, but you could see that Mickey really wanted to win Sam last year - defending it successfully like all great teams, and when our best player tells him on All-Ireland Final day that he's not up for it - you have to try & make sense of it, but there'd also be an element of anger that not every player gets to play in an All-Ireland Final & the previous years Player of the Year doesnt want to play for his various reasons.

The game plan was based around Seany & when he opted out - that was pretty much game over. Our plan of switching players from traditional positions of play last year to confuse & unsettle Cork was fecked. Its a real shame that we didnt give Cork a game that day, because if everything was right then I reckon we would have beat them. Our team was just totally disjointed!

I feel sorry for Seany tho, the lad had the weight of the County on his shoulders & the expectations were huge, and it obviously became a bittuva burden to him. I hope he doesnt feel he let his County down because he most certainly didnt. Mental fatigue happens to us all, we just hope it doesnt happen when it matters most. Thats what sadly happened to Seany!

Its great to have him back. He's an outstanding footballer & individual, and the team needs leaders like Seany to inspire the team on the field of play. We've lacked that during the league campaign & the loss of Stevie O'Neill with the dislocated elbow (freak collision with Kevin Hughes), was again a massive loss of leadership & composure for the team!

Its a massive game against Kerry. They'll be well up for it - the same as us, regardless of quality of the football played by both teams this campaign. Kerry need the points as much too & it should be a fantastic match

The game's live on Setanta Ireland at 7.00pm on Saturday from Healy Park, with the throw-in at 7.30pm!

Ye jammy feckers!!

Very quiet in here so far, is that because Derry and Tyrone have both been rubbish?

There doesn't seem to be that much quality this year. Every team seems to have a chance of beating every other.

To be honest London have a chance of beating us we are that bad. Now if I am feeling bad and admiting how crap Derry are imagine how the Tyrone lads feel, we finished above them :)

I think its a case of everyone being so bloody intense about United, that most other things are secondary man. When the Championship kicks in you'll see alot more traffic on here. I'm not entirely looking forward to our game against Antrim tho, we're very shappy in many areas of the pitch & we desperately need Stevie O'Neill back for that game!

Like United - Tyrone have to do things the fecking hard way. My nerves are shot supporting both of them, thats why I had to give them both a wide-berth yesterday - I couldnt face dual disappointment on the same day, so I went to the beach with the missus down in Kerry instead. Thank feck I did man :(

Condolences for the drop. Maybe a year out against "weaker teams" will help us both tho, so try & take the positives because there's far too many negatives!

Yeah that seems to be the picture alright NC. Many teams are trying to use the League to gain fitness & cohesion within the squad, so i wouldnt use the League campaign as a yard stick to measure where the top Counties are gonna finish at the end of the Championship - Provincial & All-Ireland!

Congrats on a good performance yesterday & bad luck not making the final. Best of luck for the rest of the season mate

Awful 8 or so days all round, pissed off big time
