Gaa 2010

My girlfriend's sister's fiancé played in a junior all ireland final at croke park a few years back. Still jealous of him.

Yeah that would be a day to remember alright. Hope he won though, the occasion would be great but you'd want to bring home the silver!

You should do the Crokers tour if you havent already done it man - its wicked & its the next best thing to actually playin

Aye, he won, the jammy git! Went on the tour once. Was one big tease!

Yeah, cant disagree with that man. Still though, its just amazing hearing all the stories, watching loads of old footage, checking out the old medals, checking out the boxes & the balcony's etc.. standing at the trophy awarding spot, sitting in the changing rooms & then running out through the extremely short tunnel - that was a mental shock. The players changing rooms (1 & 2) doors are right beside the entrance onto the pitch!

Fantastic experience & really felt at home. The GAA are a truly magnificent organisation, even the staff at headquarters are magnificient. Some difference when you compare that to Lansdowne Rd - bunch of ignorant cnuts. Still though, the new Lansdowne looks the business!

Paul Galvin doesn't half like making a rod for his own back.

KERRY football star Paul Galvin is at the centre of controversy again after accidentally striking a pupil with a duster in the classroom.
The All-star and former Kerry captain is understood have thrown the duster while teaching a class at St Brendan's College in Killarney on Monday.
The duster ricocheted and struck a pupil on the head, but the student was not injured. Galvin left the school but returned to class yesterday.
The incident has plunged Galvin back into controversy after his notorious suspension during the 2008 championship.
His dream of captaining the Kingdom to All-Ireland glory was shattered after he slapped the notebook from referee Paddy Russell's hand in Kerry's championship opener against Clare.
He turned his football career around in 2009 and won his fourth All-Ireland medal with Kerry as well as being chosen as player of the year.
St Brendan's College staff have remained tight-lipped about the incident. Principal Ed O'Neill has also refused to comment. However, it is understood no immediate disciplinary action is to be taken.
More trouble for Galvin as he hits pupil with a duster - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie

Yeah I heard that alright. Feel sorry for the fecker tho, kids can do whatever they want these days in the classroom & pretty much get away it. He was probably at the end of his tether or maybe it was just the side effects of the steroids or good old crack deprevation!
Something similar probably happens every week in some school in the country, just front page news because of who he is. That said, because of who he is he should be especially restrained knowing it will be front page news! feckin eejit in all fairness!

What do yous think of the Eamonn Fennell situation?
I find it a bit sickening to be honest. People in the GAA bleat on about losing players to AFL, even though there's only a handful, yet they won't allow one player to play football for the club he wants to. He wants to play for a club where football and not hurling is the main sport, which is makes perfect sense as a inter-county footballer. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if he got disillusioned - assuming the DRA uphold the decision of course - and told the GAA to go feck themselves and moved to soccer or rugby instead.

I have sympathy. When I was 12 a teacher at Omagh CBS hit me with a blackboard duster and I finshed up in hospital with concussion. The teacher is now one of the main men in the Gay Rights Assoc of NI.
On another note I see Fermanagh didnt put up much of a match last night, looks like another McKenna cup for Tyrone. I was at OT, it was brillant

tasty match between the raoyals and the dubs last night in navan, meath won by a point but it was a fiesty game as usual. If they meet in the championship this year it will be a cracker.

And my god Dublins new jersey is horrible. Big red bloody vodafone logo against a lightblue shirt....doesnt work

Where exactly did he hit you the duster, and was it a pink feather one by any chance??:nono::nono::nono:

I'm not sure if he is that good a football or rugby player though.

It's one thing I don't understand about the GAA. Fair enough, he made the decision to play for O'Toole's when he was about 7 or something. He learned his trade there but should that mean he is "contracted" to them for the rest of his life? I think it's ridiculous. It's an amateur sport, he competes for free for O'Toole's and I think it's stupid that they have control over him. If he wants to play for Vinny's, he should be able to.

I played for O'Toole's for a long time, only in football, but it was always the case that hurling was the prerogative. He should be allowed move, in my opinion.

Ha ha ,he was actually interviewed on TV recently in connection with Mrs Robinsons anti gay comments and he hit me on top of the head with the wooden side

Fair play to donegal tonight. Well done.

Poor Stevie looks to have picked up a bad one though!! Could be out for most of the League. The ref was absolutly brutal too!!

Now now dont go blaming the ref, 3 months for O'neill by the sound of it

It's great to see the NFL back..... A huge step up in interest & level to last months cat & mouse affairs.

Im delighted my own County, Muineachain will be competing in Div.1 with the big boy's. To be honest, I think we could struggle unless we get off to a flyer against Cork on Sunday. In saying that, Cork did not participate in Munster's McGrath cup, so HOPEFULLY, we might just catch em cold!

ps, I fancy my county of residence, Galway to give the league a good run!... the Joe Kernan factor!

You might want to revise your prediction now! I'm doing the same after Kildare's embarrassing performance against 13 men.

I think so too!.... I thought Big Joe would have them firing!..... I get the feeling here in Galway they are a little shocked. Lips are reluctantly sealed at the moment, however if Monaghan beat Galway next Sun., then I feel there will be a few rumblings towards Big Joe from the footsoldiers !

Personally, it's a big GAA day for me next Sun. ( & a good w/end to have it, with Utd not playing)

NFL; Galway v Monaghan in Pearse Std, Salthill.

I am nearly 30 yrs living in Galway, & this is the 1st time Monaghan will have played in Galway competitively!..... Already the "wind-ups" & "sessions" planned with my Galway mates & hopefully 1 or 2 from the Farney!

Very quiet in here at the minute, does this happen after every Tyrone defeat? Plenty to watch on the old box this weekend, makes up for United having no match a bit. Cant see Derry overturning the Dubs this evening , just too many key players out

Nice couple of wins for Dublin. They get everyone's hopes up (in Dublin that is) every year but always end up being pretty damn shit.

Or does he?:nervous:

Yep :D

Whats the craic CL - hope your goin good mate & a well happy camper in general - life that is - not the forum!

I got sick there at the start of February & was off work for about a week & the lap-top at home is banjaxxed, so i'd no access to the net. When I came back I just decided to keep my head down & thus take a break from the Caf, I was pretty much doing feck all in work & thats the bread & butter man.

Its nice to take a break from it tho, sort of think about other things during the day whilst not thinkin about work of course. I can assure you it had nothing to do with Tyrone losing to Derry - well done of course, very sorry I didnt come on here to congratulate the derry boys i.e. your goodselves - CL & PJ. Sounds a bit like Derry's version of Ant & Dec. Incidently, Dec's roots are from Draperstown or Drapersfield & is a relation to an deceased mate of mine / ex-boyfriend of my sister :wenger::eek:

Anyway, hope all is great with ya dude :)

I was watching St.Galls v Corofin, excellent game. Galls won in E.T, I was very impressed by them, I think they they will go on & win the all-Ireland on St. Patrick's day now.

Yeah me too!

Antrim football is on the up it would seem, although St Galls have always competed quite well within Ulster - they just couldnt transfer club progression to County progression. That looks like its changing under Bradley tho - mental lookin & talkin fecker, reminds me Art McRory

Incidently, my best mates Granda is St Galls' oldest living club member - 90 something years young

Good to see you back RHD, I was pretty sure that league match didnt upset you that much. All quiet except big rumours of another split in the Derry camp, nothing new about that. I know about Dec's County Derry roots and would be friendly with a cousin of his. I suppose this thread will liven up soon with the approaching games, anyhow speak soon

My uncle's wife is his 3rd cousin or something like that.

I'm going to have a hard time supporting Derry this year. Not a single Loup man on panel. Club v county and all that.

Nice one man - thanks. Good to be back, missed the craic too

Not another fecking split man, whats the craic this time. Doherty didnt sleep with O'Kane's bird did he, and went to court for an injunction to stop the Sunday Life from printing it???????

It seems that Dec Donnelly's family has spread their seed all over the fecking place or maybe Draperstown is just bloody inbred as feck:

Dont think thats the problem in Derry, decent lads in that way. Thought Dec had a hell of alot of relatives myself. Are you still in love?

Will RHD & friends be making the longggg trip to the "stoney grey soil" on Sun.? I believe the Red Hand boys are a bit annoyed at having to go to the far end of Monaghan county. Ya'd swear the Farney was a massive co., the way some have gone on about it. Inniskeen is only 20-25 miles further on than Scotstown, + its on a national route/ good road.

Clones is presently closed for pitch works. Inniskeen holds aprox 1,500 more than Scotstown, Monaghan's 2 nominated grounds. (1,500 x €13 = €19,500 good reasons to go there)....an all- ticket affair.

I'm not sure why we did not nominate Blaney or Ballybay, both bigger capacities, perhaps surfaces & facilities not as good!

ps; all counties had to nominate 2 grounds for NFL use. Also. this year entry to all NFL games is standardised @ €13 per adult.

Anyway, it will be a very tight match on Sun., could even end up a draw. The losers can probably look fwrd to D2 next season...... Good luck RHD & may the best team win!
