buddy_icon_laughing.png

Congrats dude on a very nice win

Condolences RHD!

Fair play to Aithe Cliath & An *** great wins for both teams.

I must say, forby ones own county, there is nothing to beat the sight of Down coming out of the tunnel in CP. You can sense, even smell their swagger" & self confidence . They seem to dance their way around the pitch.
Deep down every county, except Down, have a fear of Kerry. Down are the only county that Kerry have a fear of !
Kerry would not pass any remarks on a team scoring an early goal against them, yet I would imagine most Kerry folk nearly s**t themselves when if happened yesterday!

Thanks man - appreciate that...

Nce one RHD, this is the first year since 2003 that will have a final without ye or that shower from munster in, so about time I say!

She wasnt that bad tbh CL. I didnt take our result too well tho. feck it - its only a game at the end of the day :(

The pain goes away eventually Ive had plenty of practise, I know the good people of Tyrone/ Kerry / Meath/ Roscommon might disagree but for the neutral it was a great weekends football and Im really looking forward to the semi's. I have a strange feeling that Kildare's name could be on it, they are playing with a real swagger

I think you're right there. They have found some form and belief in the qualifiers and are a real threat and Johnny Doyle is unplayable at the minute. I think they will beat Down and Cork will have put too much into the Dublin game physically so Kildare will win it. Mind its still a long shot!

You might be right. Kildare were great on Sunday.

Should have won in 2001 against Galway, brillant final nearly as good as 93
Actually it was '98 when we lost to Galway in the final, 2000 they knocked us out in the semis. I had to double check the latter despite being at it, drank myself into oblivion that day, got an offer of a night in the cells if I didn't go home!

Ah yeah, totally agree but its not Kerry or Tyrones fault that the rest of the Country werent up to the challenge, we were just that good bit ahead of ya's. We still are imo if you compare the whole County set-up - underage etc... If Tyrone hadnt of missed so many feckin wides from great scoring positions, I wouldnt be writing this post!

I've been reading some amount of crap in the press since last Sunday - Tyrone & Kerry being spent forces... :wenger::rolleyes::wenger:

We'll be back & so will Kerry, so folk shouldnt be gettin too carried away about our demise's - there's no chance of that shit happening :nono:

I'll be rooting for Down as the only Ulster representative left. If not them, then its Kildare. Lovely football teams & always have been...

That's just the media, and as for wides being a good omen, nonsense, Dublin have been hitting more wides athan anyone for 10 years, all it means is that the shooting positions are shit and the defence is forcing the fowards to hurry/make poor decisions. Anyone who takes solace in wides is kidding themsleves. But as for spent forces, no way, anyone who knows knows that. The teams may have a year or hopefully two of transition but that's about it.

Dude, its not Dublins defence thats gettin the credit for Tyrone missing easy / scoreable points - its the bloody Tyrone players!

As for taking solace - how is pointing to the fact that havin far too many wides in a game, not good reason for a loss - its commonsense. Tyrone have been missing so many wides all year resulting in relegation & knock-out, so its no real surprise they left their shooting boots at home again!

I don't disagree it's the reason you lost, just disagreeing it's a reason you're still great. A younger Tyrone team with the same attacking possession would have won. You can't dismiss the opposition, this Dublin defence did enough to keep them out, they wouldn't have in the past. We'll see if it was a bad day or a curtain call.

Wasnt dismissing the opposition man, you's played very well as a complete unit, i'm just disappointed / pissed-off with the wayward shooting from us throughout the year. I thought we turned the corner against Monaghan but the old habits came flooding back again!

I dont have sour grapes with anyone but our forwards & as I said before - congrats on the win, you's deserved it. I've been impressed with Dublin throughout the League campaign & knew if they could get back to playin that same style instead of the gung-ho style employed against Meath, then Dublin would be very hard to beat & every scoreable chance for us must be taken!

Atleast we still have the minors tho :nervous:

Breaking News: Mickey Harte to United...

mickey-alex.jpg

GAA followers in Tyrone have been stunned by the announcement that All Ireland Gaelic football winning manager Mickey Harte has been appointed to Sir Alex Ferguson’s coaching staff at Old Trafford.

The inspirational Tyrone boss will take up the new post of Performance Director at Manchester United with immediate effect.

It is understood that Ferguson has been tracking Harte’s progress for a number of years, the pair having first met at the Belfast Telegraph’s Sports Awards in Belfast, where, according to Old Trafford insiders, ‘they instantly hit it off.’

Speaking at today’s press conference Sir Alex said: ‘We tried to get Mickey on board last summer but Tyrone beat Dublin, so that meant he had those commitments. We also tried to get him in 2004 but circumstances meant he couldn’t leave.’

‘It’s fabulous news for Manchester United and I am delighted he is joining us. Since Carlos [Quiroz, the current Portugal manager] left, we have been missing someone to get the optimum performance from the players. Mickey has proved he can do it at the highest level with players of the highest skill.’

Mickey Harte said that although the decision to leave his beloved Tyrone team was very difficult, he ‘technically supported Manchester United since he was a boy’, growing up with tales of the Busby Babes and following Charlton, Best and Law:

“This is a good place to be if you want to be the best you can be in sport. Gaelic Football was my first love but in life sometimes an opportunity presents itself. I have been involved with Tyrone in a number of roles for nineteen years. I always tell the players to seize every opportunity to be the best, to be ambitious for the higher gifts. So when Alex called, he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. And so, this is a new journey, a new chapter and we’ll see where it takes us.”

Harte is known to be a fan of Sir Alex Ferguson, publicly praising his methods in the past. Both men share a fierce will to win and a commitment to attacking football. One thing it is unlikely Harte will share with Sir Alex is his customary post-match bottle of fine wine. Harte is a confirmed tee-totaller and members of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association.

However, his experience of dealing with the likes of Ricey, Owen Mulligan and Sean Cavanagh will be an asset in getting the best out of Rio Ferdinand, Anderson, Ronaldo and company.

In the past a number of GAA coaches have been linked with Premiership Clubs – Armagh defender and sports psychologist Enda McNulty was linked with Aston Villa and former Armagh and Derry trainer, John McCloskey was close to joining Chelsea.

Yeah heard that man - great news. I like Banty - top man :D

I'm happy with that.
I was hoping he would not stay on for a year, as this does not give a team stability. If that was to be the case, I would have been happier if he resigned.
I am delighted he is staying for 3 years, it will also give the players a boost, as they are very pro-Banty.

no words about the way Kilkenny manhandled Cork last weekend? the Ma was delighted with that. "that put them in their place" she says.

Its got a wee bit wuiter on this thread since Ty and KY went out in dramatic style.

Anyway its always nice to see more quitting Derry Men. Martin O'Neill showing just as Bradley did, If the going gets tough, the Derry men run and hide!!!

It is hard to resist having a wee anti-Derry rant when the situation arises. You do have to admit though that O'Neill and Bradley look like a right pair of Pricks.

McEnaney's reappointment in doubt

Seamus McEnaney faces a battle to remain in charge of the Monaghan footballers after club delegates voted in favour of seeking nominations for the post last night.

The meeting was expected to return 'Banty' as manager for a seventh year, but instead clubs have been asked to submit nominations for the position by September 3 ahead of the next meeting.

The Monaghan executive last week backed McEnaney to continue in the role for another three years, but club delegates have now decided to open up the process. The Corduff clubman, who is the second longest serving manager in Gaelic football after Tyrone boss Mickey Harte, may still be nominated, but the move by the clubs could signal the end of his reign.

The Monaghan county board is also seeking nominations for the positions of senior and minor hurling manager

Not a fan of those two either. Both complete whingers it has to be said. You should tone down the anti-Derry vibe tho man, CL is a good Gaelic man & most of the time - very kind to the Tyrone Franchise :D
