I honestly don’t get why these players are desperate to sign for Barca. Surely they can’t be happy to sign a contract for half what they’ll make elsewhere?
I genuinely don't know. I do wonder whether players still see Barca as a huge alluring club with a fantastic city etc.

The one problem with having such an epic league in England is that players look at the clubs with a lot more uncertainty than they do elsewhere. Once you're earning a certain amount, you might give up say £20,000 a week more if it means you can live in a vibrant, sunny city.

Koundé is yet another reason why you’d think Barcelona would be willing to just cough up the 17m they owe De Jong. They’ve spent a feck tonne on transfers this summer, so apparently money is of no concern. So what’s 17m in the grand scheme of things if that’s the only thing holding up all this amazing business you’ve done/will do?
Why spend weeks persuading someone to forget about a relatively small amount of money that you legally owe him, knowing that every court in the land would side against you if you were to force the issue, when you’re pissing several times that amount up the wall on other players who you can’t even use until this apparently massive problem is dealt with? The whole thing is just such a catastrofeck that I can’t believe we’re seeing it.
