It will be IqFred
"Man, if someone told me id enjoy going to redcafe to see the meltdown day in day out.. frenkie you goat for that"
Harsh but true.
Don't say that, @Scarlett Dracarys loves you
Tag me if I need pulling back in
To be fair, I'd drop to my knees a la Tim Robbins in Shawshank in the knowledge that McFred is no longer our starting midfield.Arriving is arriving. I’ll take it!
To be fair this is a pretty dense de Jong thread. You could even say it's a meaty de Jong thread. If we deleted all the comments comparing this to Di Maria, how many pages would we be on?
I think that's fairA part of me thinks that Barcelona can register all of their new players without selling Frenkie. The genius football expert part of me thinks that Frenkie has realised this summer that no matter how many levers they pull, no matter how many times they say they're more than a club, no matter how many weddings they host on their pitch, Catalan flags are waved from the stands and grandiose statements are made about them being the most special super duper footballing behemoth in the world, deep down they're nothing but a bunch of cnuts.
Frenkie will be a United player, and if I'm wrong then you can ban Elvis.
Heres the thing that gets me about CL stuff. It's one season. Theres no guarantee that if he goes to Chelsea, they'll make CL next season. Hell, theres no guarantee we will, but we could win the EL and gain access that way.
I still just can't see ten Hag chasing him if he believes that United are his second choice and he doesn't really want to come, or will come if no Champions League clubs arrive on the scene. I truly believe we'd walk away in that case as it's possible he could be snagged at the last minute after we've done all the hard work with prompting Barca and de Jong to solve the wage issues
Dumb as a bag of rocks if that is his approach. CL this year does not mean CL every year and there is no guarantee Chelsea will get top 4 this season or for the forseeable, of course they might but nothing is certain so if that is his only reason for delaying the transfer it doesn't say much for what is between his ears. Money is what drives everything, he wants a bag of cash from Barca to go away and is digging in his heels until he gets it. If there are enough zeros on the offer he would probably join Bournemouth once he gets his Barca payoff.
I'm basing the CL club stuff on the fact that de Jong's agents reached out to both PSG and Chelsea in the past as reported by Rob Dawson. Sure, Chelsea's future is uncertain, but United's is even more so, unfortunately, given that we're revamping the whole club from top to bottom. Even then, Chelsea have some way to go as Brownie mentioned, but if the player's more open to joining them or PSG, then he is also likelier to reach a compromise with Barcelona over the deferred payments. There's no other reason for the Spanish/Catalan journalists to constantly report about de Jong's desire for a CL club otherwise. What the feck does CL club mean?
If it’s England and it aint City or Liverpool it means absolutely jack shit as proved by United finishing above Chelsea in 2 of the last 3 seasons and it’s probably a toss up as to who will finish above the other again this season.
Chelsea aren't keen on spending as much as we are. No other club is, really, which is why we were always the furthest ahead in the negotiations. Barcelona are also helped by the fact that we're not de Jong's main preference, so they can use that to get more money out of us.I really don't buy it.
First why wouldn't Chelsea get involved until United end their chase? The transfer fee has been decided for them and all they need to do is put in an offer around that number if they feel FdJ prefers them over us. It's not like they'll get into a bidding war with United and end up overpaying. It's possible they might be able to negotiate for something <85M if we were not around but do you really see that happening with Barca? We're compromising quite a bit and they're still fecking around re: deferred wages.
I don't think the CL club is a particular attraction. As people have mentioned, outside City, Pool, nothing can be taken for granted in the PL. If PSG, Bayern, City or Pool come in, then sure, all bets are off. At United, he gets to work with a coach who knows how to use him the best. The project will be built around him and the pay will be very good. I think those are bigger factors than a club temporarily being out of the CL.
The simplest explanation is the most likely one. FdJ feels like he's being screwed over by Barca and is not willing to leave without some compensation for his wage cut last couple of years. All parties know Barca will likely sell by end of the window. Just a matter of who blinks first.
Just an Arsenal fan trolling.Where has this come from?
I'm so confident that I'm willing to put others at risk.I think that's fair
There's no other reason for the Spanish/Catalan journalists to constantly report about de Jong's desire for a CL club otherwise.
There is so much vocal press now about him categorically NOT wanting to join, is it even a good idea for him to join us anymore?
Of course there is, seems like the Catalan media especially really have it in for United. Look at what they've reported... They say constantly that de Jong has no desire to play for United or live in Manchester. What reason do the Madrid media and English media have to constantly bullshit those claims?
Of course there’s always a reason, clicks and banter. Clicks = money.
This.Barcaforum lurkers. I hope you see this.
You’re all cnuts.

Have you even read the article?ffs can we stop begging this clown

I wouldn't say he's a full-on clown but @Fridge chutney has spent the last couple of days trusting articles who use the same dodgy source and claiming that they're all unique reports so maybe he's a little bit of a clownffs can we stop begging this clown

Seems like Sport has an absolute hatred for United at the moment, and it's no surprise that the guy that wrote the Relevo article the other day saying that Chelsea were hours away from making a bid and that de Jong has no desire personally or sporting wise to move to United, spent 9 years writing for Sport.
I miss the days when he was spamming the Transfer Tweets thread about the transfer activity of Stevenage FC.I wouldn't say he's a full-on clown but @Fridge chutney has spent the last couple of days trusting articles who use the same dodgy source and claiming that they're all unique reports so maybe he's a little bit of a clown
I don't think Sport hates us, I think it's possible they are actually being fed by the FDJ camp in an attempt to put pressure on Barca, like threatening to stay. Sport target audience is Spain, not us.Of course there is, seems like the Catalan media especially really have it in for United. Look at what they've reported... Now that there’s a dedicated thread that doesn’t pollute the main football forum and inconvenience followers of the top leagues, it’s interesting how the transfer activities of conference clubs have quietened down.
Whether people want to accept it or not Chelsea are a bigger draw than United are right now.
Firstly they are far more likely to be in the Champions league year in year out they have even won it twice in recent times whereas we have barely figured any time we did qualify.
They have won more trophies in recent years they have won bigger trophies than we have managed since Fergie quit, they have a world class manager and a lot of money.
They are at the top end of football right now whereas we are hoping we have a manager that can finally get us back there
Last and not least they are in London which is always a plus for players and their families.
If de jong has a choice of Chelsea or us then the chances are he will opt for Chelsea.
This whole thing has dragged on for so long now i really hope we have alternative options as we will likely need them.
You don't actually believe this shit do you?ffs can we stop begging this clown
Let me offer this disclaimer before I get started:We know from these boards we’re a self loathing bunch, so negative news on United sells, especially with added “bantz” for fans of other clubs.
On the coach part, that's exactly why we're not only still in this race but also, as of now, the likeliest club to get him (no matter what the naysayers say).
All of my conjecture is based on reliable reports and journalists. I'm ignoring the BS merchants from Sport and other terrible outlets. On that note, the reliable Catalan journalists/outlets have constantly highlighted Frenkie's preference to play in the CL, and even both Whittell (via Ducker's sources) and Luckhurst have both mentioned how ten Hag and United have had to convince de Jong and allay his concerns over joining us. If Frenkie indeed really wanted to join us, then I don't think we'd have to wait for him to sort out his deferred payments; I think he'd have hit a compromise with Barcelona by now (especially since we increased our base fee in the hopes of partially resolving that issue). What reason do the Madrid media and English media have to constantly bullshit those claims?

Barcelona's problem is that they had no competition for the player. They sent out feelers to other clubs (hence the links to City, PSG, and Chelsea), but whilst City ended the links soon via their journalists, both PSG and Chelsea have been quiet for the most part with Chelsea in particular only monitoring the situation according to Steinberg. The only way they could get more from us is to highlight that Frenkie wants to stay with them first and foremost and that a little bit of extra money would entice Barcelona to put more effort into convicing de Jong to join us.Huh? If it were true that United is not De Jong's preference, this definitely would not help Barcelona. They are trying to move him and the sticking point is getting him to drop his insistence on getting paid the money he feels he's owed by Barca. Having FDJ absolutely desperate to come to United would certainly be preferable for them.
Sport isn't getting much, if any, info. They have no reliable journalist on their end who's reporting on this. Pretty much anything that's not coming from Joaquim Piera is unreliable.I don't think Sport hates us, I think it's possible they are actually being fed by the FDJ camp in an attempt to put pressure on Barca, like threatening to stay. Sport target audience is Spain, not us.
Frenkie playing 4d chess to get his money.
Plenty of people hate living in big cities, and much prefer living in countryside, so stop chatting out of your arse on every single point with your self loathing.
I'm sorry but I don't believe they have enough draw to beat us to Frenkie after all the work we've put into this deal.Whether people want to accept it or not Chelsea are a bigger draw than United are right now.

The only thing making Chelsea more attractive than United at this time is the CL. That's it. Otherwise, Frenkie would have just said no to Ten Hag outright.Whether people want to accept it or not Chelsea are a bigger draw than United are right now.

Yep, this living in London thing seems an awfully dated argument these days.
Not true:It's been fairly well established that it's future money in his contract. There's no IOU from Barca saying they'll pay him a certain amount.
I’m sure at least 50% of the forum would pick a Cheshire mansion on a lake over living in London, yet some would have you believe all footballers are special people who just fecking love living in massive cities.
