the sheer audacity of Barca to tell him HE MUST LEAVE....when they owe him 17m in back wages.

yes, because thats exactly how the conversation went. "You have to leave, but we have no legal ground, but still you MUST leave"
That's just pressure through the press on Frenkie to decide in the right direction, nothing more.

rational thoughts:
They just explained to him his current situation, that he isn't an undisputed starter anymore. Xavi has for his system more fitting players and he earns too much money, because Bartomeu gave him a contract way above market value, which cripples the club on the transfer market. So Frenkie has to decide now, what he wants to do. His agent wants his transfer fee, barca wants him out so the pressure on Frenkie is big, but still the decision is his in the end and he will decide now, maybe over the weekend.

Would be typical for us if we can somehow get him in before our first league game, he sets the world alight with his performances in the first 4 or 5 games a la Pogba last season and then gets injured until the start of World Cup.:nervous:

So the extra 10m guaranteed is to cover some of the 17m owed in deferred wages?

A player who openly wanted to stay at Barcelona and got forced out will be just another mercenary like Pogba. No CL the next seasons either and if you get a lucky 4th, round of 16 is going to be the highest United will get in CL. Average mercenary team. I don't know how United fans can't see that after 10 years of absolute failure and embarrassment despite throwing money around like they are PSG.

Cheers fella, please never post again.

I doubt that will happen.
You're probably right because it would take too long to build the elevator.

Bet you thought this would be a green smiley.
The only green smiley I need is the one your mum gives me when I pop it in her ringpiece.

You know, because of the Kermit costume she puts on if I beg her enough.

Laporte will have to do the Jedi mind trick on him to make him forget his money

Must leave now you shall

But I assume we are probably going splits on the cash he’s owed with Barca to speed this up. He’s a potential WC 100 million plus player if he gets back to his best. Hopefully also the end of McT as a regular starter. That’s worth the extra few quid alone. Oooh such a tasty signing.

Believe what you want to, but ‘deferred’ wages are still wages that would have otherwise been due previously.

This means that had FDJ not agreed the deferral Barca would have owed him that money already.

There is not a legal professional on the planet that would have advised him to defer guaranteed payments due to him and make the deferred payments conditional they would have always been guaranteed.

Clearly you’re a top legal professional though who worked on the deal so can say with certainty that this particular deal went against industry norms.

All im trying to say is that there is a point of contention due to the deferred wages. Thats why Barca isn't paying Frenkie what is "owed" to him. They'd likely have to come to a compromise or waste money going to court.

Stay in the newbies section please. And go out and support another club.

Everyone stop right now, Saint Jonez said he's a mercenary! Abort

This post belongs to fan-cam accounts on Twitter. I don't think it'll get you the agreeable attention you think it will.

Probably best to delete and never talk off it again

You seem a touchy fella. Who do you support? Wonder if you can reply before @golden_blunder hammer comes down?

 It must be weird signing a player for loads of money that doesn't want to leave his club. Obviously they've now broke his heart but I do wonder how that will impact him mentally.
Right now I'm in full muppet mode. But once the dust settles, there are indeed some questions that needs to be adressed. For now though, I choose to trust ETHs judgement on this

He deferred 17m in wages over the last couple of years. He is not entitled to everything in his contract but if he is being sold he is entitled to the money he deferred, they just don't want to pay him.
Barca area obviously trying to weasel out of it. I'm not sure they would if they didn't think they legally could?

They don't owe him. He hasn't earned that money yet from what I've read.
they absolutely owe him....it was deferred wages from during the pandemic years. they asked the same from Ter Stegen, Alba and Pique

Saint Jones? Phillip, is that you?! Don’t be bitter guy, just empty your locker and move on…..

Sure, Barca hasn’t gone to plan for him. His best work has for sure been at Ajax. Football goes like this sometimes but I wouldn’t say Barca’s midfielders a better than him. ETH is key here and if he can get frenkie here and playing for him again, he can be world class for us, no doubt about it. He will feel love here that he has never felt there.. if we can build a ETH team and play exciting football again.. no reason he won’t love it.

this is a amazing club with some of the best fans in the world. No reason he can’t fall for this club, especially if the team is built around him.

That's fair and understandable. Although the same thing was said when ADM joined us because the Real fans had turned on him and people said he'd be loved here etc. Don't mean to be negative but I just get the exact same vibe from this. ETH will be key no doubt.

Its like when people say never meet your idols.

Don't play for your dream club cos they cnuts.

How is Pogba a mercenary or his situation remotely similar to De Jong’s?

You might end up being right. I felt the same way about Ronaldo and took a pasting for suggesting it would end up bringing the team down. The difference is we have a world class coach who nurtured this borderline world class young player with his best years ahead. This signing should most likely be a big hit.

Yeah you’re not jealous at all

I mean they legally can if he agrees to forgo it.
Hasn't he already done that by signing a new contract with the new wages? He's agreed a lower wage and barca want to sell before his higher wage kicks in

Sounds promising.
But i'm gonna hold off until August 30th when we probably finalise it.
