This deal would've been wrapped up weeks ago had I not watched a de Jong compilation video on YouTube.
You need to write a book...diary of the ladsarnold: “so yeah lads, i went to barcelona with jimmy and we demanded to see laporte. the stupid, foren taxi driver didn’t understand us though and took us the docks instead. quick as a flash jimmy was all “we ain’t here to suck any sailers off. we’re here for de jong, not de dong.” we had a barry and paul (chuckle) cheersed are carlings and then got a uber to there training ground.
of course laporte was at a restaurant. we’d called at an awkward time, between brunch and lunch, so he was sitting down to his fourth meal of the day. me and jimmy burst in to the restaurant and told laporte that de jong was going back with us or we were going to have a scrap. laporte calmed us down by ordering two beers. was that estrella muck but the sun was out so we sank them. a few beers and a few shots later we’d managed to negotiate paying another 20m over three years to them, alongside a goodwill lever of 7m. told them to accept by friday or we’ll add another 5m. it’s only euros so not real money. stupid prick.
went to the beach afterwards and tried to smash a couple of local broads. frigid as feck over there. didn’t even react to jimmy helicoptering his willy after slashing into the sea from the rocks. got easyjet back this morning. heads fecked.”
Exactly. Unless the wording of the contract strangely suggests otherwise.

2 Things....Can we address the elephant in the room...
4 goals and 6 assists in 61 games across all competitions and internationals last season.
Is 1 in 10 really enough? If all he does is pass to the person who does the actual work then why are we paying so much for FdJ.
13 goals, 23 assists in 230 total professional games all clubs. 91.4% pass accuracy, 12 MOTM so about 5% of the time and this is only marginally better than 1/22 so he barely outshines the average if there are no stand outs.
Per game defensive
1.3 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 0.6 fouls, 0.1 offside, 0.8 clearances, 0.6 dribbles, 0.1 blocks, 0 o.g.s
Offensive
0.5 shots, 1.2 key passes, 1.7 dribbles, 1.2 fouled, 0.8 dispossessed, 0.9 bad control
Passes
64.6, 0.1 crosses, 2.2 long ball, 0.1 through balls
This player is no Michael Carrick. He also isn't a DM. He isn't a destroyer. He isn't a Pirlo..
He is basically the one missing element from Fred and McTominay...he can do simple passes effectively! Is this really enough?
Maybe stats isn't enough.
I've not watched loads of him and the passing aspect was the key thing I was sure we needed, but now I'm left questioning if this is really a stand out player worth this kind of money.

If he leaves his contract is cancelled. That’s why he wants the money owed before leaving. So he needs to physically be there saying to Laporta ‘don’t forget my money, don’t forget my money’ everyday in order to get paid?
It is a matter of contract, and to me, has no bearing on whether or not he continues to play for Barcelona next season or not. The notion that he wants to leave, but will stay if he can’t sort out his deferred wages sounds odd.

A picture of their bank account.
Like i said on page 4 or 5 he's really not worth all the fecking around.
We should've moved on from this nonsense weeks ago. It's just an embarrassment at this point begging a player to join us that's never once said he wants to come here.

They’ve got a spider infestation

Correct me if I am wrong, but why is the deferred wages an issue in this transfer? If he is owed them, he is owed them regardless of if he moves or not and could take legal action against Barcelona for non payment even after a move away.
Unless is it tied to a loyality bonus?
I have no idea why the matter of his wage deference would impact his departure. The two do not seem related to me.
Seems that we've restructured our offer so Barca can pay him off but we now just need Barca to tell him to feck off in order to seal the move.
I'm sure this will get done once he gets the direct communication from the club that he should go.
Learn to appreciate actual football and stop playing FIFA.2 Things....
1st adding to what you are saying, these stats were achieved playing for a dominant Ajax in a relatively weak league (strength in depth) and Barcelona a dominant team in a relatively weak league (strength in depth).....
2nd thing Carrick should not be used as an example of a midfielder to aspire to.... he was bang average and way over hyped on here, the guy was on his way out of the club his performances were so poor until we had a defensive crisis and he had to step in as a CB, admittedly after that reprieve his performances stabilised but still he was, meh at best, he was just slightly better than other bang average midefielders we had at the time, he was fortunate to play in front of a great defence otherwise he would have been exposed more, the worst sideways and backpass merchant I have ever seen play for us, and gave numerous goals away passing to attackers outside our own box,
Insane that people are trying to tell us he not a good player, and it's the elephant in the room, trying to convince us they not be any good for us.
When it's the mew manager who has used him before to great success, who driving this signing, I think we bypass the stats and stick to how the manager see about using him.
He night and day ahead of anyone we have got in the midfield so not even sure their is a debate around it.

FdJ is an annoying clingy fecker who won't get the message. Just keeps buzzing around when Barca want to move on to new fellas. #hotgirlsummer #slagFlying off for their tour?
I do reckon if that was the case, with a new manager we would have moved on. Im certain that ETH is convinced we can get him and thus the higher ups are too. There could be the possibility that in reality he actually does not want to join. Griezmann, Dybala etc. It wouldn't be the first time in recent history we pursued players who in the end didn't decide to join us.
But his new contract is structured so that the 17m is loaded onto his wages for the next 4 years. So if he leaves now he gets none of it. That’s why he effectively saying if you want me out of the club you need to give me 17m now.Well of course, his contract going forward is cancelled, not going backwards! The monies owed is for services already rendered.
