Barcelona have one hell of a credit card

So they're signing Raphinha, Kounde and Lewansowski? As a selling club I'd get an audit done to verify whether they can honor their commitments. The feckers can't even pay their own players.

Umm…yes of course we will. The only reason he’s on so much is because he’s deferred his wages!!!! That’s the whole point. Barcelona have to top up his salary if he is to move and pay what they owe him from previous years.

Yeah, apologies. I worked out the numbers and realise 16m a year is about 300k, so it'll be about right. My bad.

I want the player but part of me has reached the point where i want him to just point blank refuse to cut salary and leave and just see what a giant circus Barcelona's summer becomes with deals in place for raphinha and lewandowski at 120 million ish euros alone it will be some drama.

Why would Raphinha or anyone for that matter want to go to a club that literally has no money but continues to promise the world to both clubs and players, if I was Leeds I wouldn't be holding my breath in getting any of that transfer fee! The way Barca are treating players and being allowed to buy players when owing so much to so many is utterly shambolic. They should be forced to pay what they owe before being allowed to purchase any new players or give out new contracts. La Liga, UEFA and FIFA should be sanctioning them for this. But wait it's Barca so they'll continue to get away with murder.

If you say so, or he's desperate (ETH) and feels he has to have him but FDJ simply doesn't want to leave.

Sending out Murtough and Arnold is being heralded as hero's, no idea why. The latter stated he'd stay out of transfer dealings, obviously he isn't.

You must have a low opinion of EtH?

Why else were Arnold and Murtough out in Barca then?

Ultimately I think talk is cheap and all the Twitter pundits say whatever.

For me, bookies odds are where the closest thing we can know to truth is.

Right now, he’s 1/2 to come to us and 6/5 to stay at Barca, so still more likely than not.

There is scenario 4 too, actually.

4. de Jong stays, accepting a massive paycut and foregoing his backdated wages
But he's ruled out that option already going by the same reports that have him staying.

Didn't Arnold say he was going to keep out of transfer dealings to the supporters in the pub? What's he doing in Spain?

Seems like the panic is on our side.

Barca are cleaning up with signings and we're panicking to hijack a player from them.

Maybe that's why Arnold is there to sign off? You bring the big dog over and if you cant close the deal then, then you can forget about it. Arnold will be the one signing off. So if there is nothing after this trip, I doubt if it will happen then.

But if he is there a few extra days then they are working towards a deal. Its complicated since there are at least 2 deals to be compromised and concluded here -- between Barca and United and Barca and Frenkie. And a potential compromised deal where all 3 parties bite some of the bullets.

We really need to sort out scouting out for next season onwards. This seems a bit emotional from us. If Ten Hag never worked with FDJ I don't think we would be waiting this long or trying this hard to sort through the shit that involves a player who doesn’t look like he even wants to come.
I understand working hard to get a player like Martinez over the line since he steadfastly wants to come but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a transfer happen this way.
A ruthless, more efficient system is badly needed.

I’m not a legal expert by any means but is there some sort of advantage that FDJ possesses by adopting the ‘I don’t want to leave‘ position? Could he end up potentially taking legal action against Barcelona for some kind of constructive dismissal if he makes it look like he was forced out?

So therefore the FDJ stance is ‘Pay me or get sued’?

Sure, but why would he? he doesn't have to do that at all. He can happily sit there and legally take the money he's owed.

This is a scenario Barca would want, but no way in hell would he accept that.

It's fecking madness. Why are players considering them when they treat players like turds

Because a contract is a contract. They can do whatever they like but ultimately Frenkie holds all the power and could refuse a move and he will get paid all he is owed unless Barca go bust. Barca are still a massive draw for many reasons and the shit show in the background isn't really that relevant to the players.

They are shooting themselves in the foot with regards to FdJ however if they want him to leave and agree to forego some of those deferred wages. You can't splash the cash and plead poverty. I imagine FdJ is being advised to just sit there by his agent. Come talk to us when you will give us 100% of the deferred wages and then we will agree to a transfer. Anything less and I will just sit here and collect them the old fashioned way.

I wouldnt be as bothered about this constant stalling if we were finalising our other deals but we aren't.

The simple fact is Barca NEED to sell him so Why don't we just walk away for awhile try tie up our other signings and just let Barcelona sweat.

We could inform Frenkie and his agents that we're very much interested so he isn't left in the lurch.

If he states he wants to leave Barca then he forfeits any loyalty bonus in his contract.

No there isn't it only exists in the imagination of Some United's supporters .

There is one thing that has been an ever constant in this De Jong deal, that is that De Jong does not want to leave Barca and wants to stay.

No one has ever questioned that. Which means he is desperate to stay, they owe him money, they treated him badly, yet he is gagging to stay.

So Barca are in a position of power, knowing he only wants to stay. He has taken pay cuts before, no reason why he wouldn't again.

So…. No rampa de sortida after all?

It seems absurd and reckless to me for them to sell all these futures rights to secure money now, and then instead of paying off what they already owe, they instead go out and continue spending like Mr Monopoly in Harods. How on earth is the way they operate sustainable?

No. They can't force him out. Its as simple as that. They have a contract and he can no more walk away from it than Barca can unless both parties agreed. You cannot force the sale of a player unless you are willing to buy out the remainder of their contract as far as I understand it.

The advantage FdJ possesses by saying "I'm not leaving" is that Barca then have to persuade him to leave. The only way they are likely to do that is to financially incentivise him. They can do that by paying him the deferred wages that he would recoup by staying at Barca for the next few years. They obviously don't want to do that.

This is precisely it. Its all smoke & mirrors. Frenkie wants the money owed to him. Barca wants to not pay there since they don't consider it 'deferred payments' since it's now going to be paid in years 4,5 and 6 and he won't be there if he gets transferred out. Plus he 'volunteered' to do it.

Imagine if Frenkie had said he wants to leave and go to United.... he has lost out to the fans and a potential legal challenge.

Its almost like they are trying to humiliate Frenkie now. Taking the piss out of him now.

Asking him to take a pay cut and yet spending millions elsewhere.
