They shouldn't be getting what they paid for him, his value has fallen down quite a bit since his CL campaign with Ajax in 18/19.

Frenkie is coming to Hollywood (oh shit I forgot we're Disney Land not Hollywood, oh well)

Fall-back targets in the event we don't get de Jong, but I think we'll get him.
So we dont get our full back targets if we get De Jong ? :S not sure how to read that

Edit, i cant read. Fall back.

If luckhurst is accurate, this could be it. This should be the bid that seals it. We've likely agreed a compromise and now the bid goes in.

That's not what he's saying though, he's just saying they have to sell assets. That doesn't have to be the CVC deal, it doesn't have to be players - but they must make money.

Indeed, Barcelona will sign one before the end of the month to end the season in positive.
And the rest in July to register and sign.

This should be the beginning of the end for the transfer. Both clubs are eager to get it done and there will be compromise

There's no way luckhurst has barca sources, so i imagine he's got the word that they've come to a compromise.

I agree, plus the fact that Barca are broke and require this to go through to fund their summer spend.

I think we should be offering £50-55m with £10-15 of add ons personally. But also just want to get this done so we can move on.

I'm a bit annoyed with Barcelona as We did them a huge favour a few years back and sold them one of the best centre backs in the world (Gerard Pique) for €5m as He was homesick and they aren't prepared to do us any favours at all.

How can someone negotiate hard without making a bid?
If so determined to get him then when is the time to walk away and get the other targets as there will be a negotiation process involved there as well?
These posts are just some idiot in front of a keyboard thinking “what shit shall I put out today”

Isn’t there completely different personnel at both clubs since then though?

How is it a bargain to pay more than they paid for him, when they don't want him anymore?

Depends what his worth is purely as a footballer and £65m doesn't seem overpriced at all.

If City suddenly decided to sell Haaland at the end of next season for £65m would that be a bargain or a bad deal because City didn't pay that much for him.

Barcelona seem to be willing to let him go but if the transfer fee isn't high enough then they will keep him. They don't seem to be desperate for him to go by any stretch of the imagination. Hes just in the sweet spot of value, high wages and non-home grown for them to move on.

Great point. Our defence pairing was supposed to Evans + Pique and instead we ended up with Phil Jones + Smalling

Transfers dont get done on the weekends. This will get done on Monday at the earliest.

Do they not? Sure people have been signed on a weekend before or at least a deal has been agreed over the weekend. It’s possible with no football being played.

We already have technically 'bid', that is what negotiating is.

When they say bid they mean sending official paperwork. We NEVER do that until a contract is agreed.

It's really just semantics at this point. The main thing is it's getting closer to an agreement.

That was before with other people. With Mateu Alemany things are very different.

The sale of FDJ does not make Barcelona get out of any hole, that will be done by the economic levers. The sale of FDJ is to finance other signings.

If United are not satisfied with the amount that Barcelona is asking for, then sign another player, that easy.
If Barcelona sells cheap it is that they are very bad at negotiating and if they sell high it is that they are arrogant and stubborn.

I agree, I think Ten Hag should make a decision this weekend for better or worse and move on.
I guess a lot of United fans will throw their toys out if he decides we should walk away, but my position is that there is just so much to do that I'll give the manager time to make smart decisions from a football and financial perspective with regards to the club.

Oh please let it happen this time. Will be a huge boost to everyone and to my mood. I have been absolutely miserable since yesterday. Will apologise if I offended anyone in the last 24 hrs on the caf. Been posting non stop :nervous:. If it doesn’t get done then I have some some posters on my list. :D
