The team goes on tour in a few weeks. Surely Ten Hag wants a new signing for that?
or will fans be happy to wait until the end of the transfer window after our worst Premier League season ever? Weird the club needs positive vibes now. I'd rather "get some bodies in" before the tour with attainable signings like a Neves and Kante double swoop rather than focus on De Jong all summer.

It's a bit arrogant from Manchester United to brief Laurie Whitwell (of all people!) they think they have got De Jong in the bag. And the player wants to come. Let's see if Barcelona or De Jong give United the slap down. Because all United fans on Twitter and social media are going crazy and celebrating now think we are signing De Jong now.. Barcelona or De Jong will be asked about this surely as it's a massive update.
We will know very quickly if this is doable. But it'll be embarrassing if United spend all summer on this deal and don't sign him. Because they have briefed Laurie Whitwell they are focused on De Jong they better get it over the line otherwise the anger fron the fans WILL overspill. After coming off our worst Premier League season ever and other teams have already signed players.. the fanbase are desperate for some positivity.. a signing ANY signing even a right-back or Eriksen
United better get this done now. Or they risk a toxic atmosphere at Old Trafford from the first match.

Then 6 months later people here will be wondering why we didn't get another midfielder or why we didn't pay what it took to get Nunez when he scores 18 goals before January.

I wont be excited till ETH gets all the pieces together he requires to support Frenkie. Otherwise, without them, in 9 months' time, Frenkie's signing will look like a wet squib.

MUFC would be weary of injuries effecting price, Barca may be hoping a great tournament brings in another bidder etc etc. I personally think everything is agreed on the down low but it's going to stretch out because of these bloody internationals.

Vaart's first season at Spurs was great wasn't it? He just did a typical Vd Vaart afterwards and lost focus. As he always did.
17 year old Van der Vaart is still the most talented youngster I've ever seen. If only he had Kuyt's work ethic.
If Whitwell and others are correct and the fee is the main sticking point now, I don't think either team can really haggle on that for too long.

Laurie Whitwell said this morning that De Jong is wanting to join. Seems like the other 2 are jumping on the back of that.
He was massive for my fantasy team for at least 2 seasons.

They are really weird, because it's not TalkSport as in the presenters or the shows, it's lterally their tweets from "Talksport Sources" that seem to be really on the money.
Laurie is a club brief. Talksport isn’t so I’m fairly sure they are from different sources which is good.
Barca want him to leave as they are desperate for the money.

Yeah which is fine if FDJ is one of three or four...but my expectations are still low based on previous windows.
For me, we desperately need a CF and a second CM this window, or its an impossible job for ETH. Whatever budget we have needs to ensure it covers all of those acquisitions
