Surely he knows. If he was going to do it he would have done it already. Its not like he has any leverage with Barca. Its either go back to Barca, sit on the bench or play CB or start a new adventure today.
This is a good question. The entire time its been hinted at that ETH and Frenkie, or Utd and Frenkies agent had a deal; they were agreed and both were trying to play Barca for the maximum benefit. If not - then as you say, why the hell would they have kept chasing him for so long when it was so clear he wasn't interested? He MUST have been saying something else behind closed doors to ETH or we're really fecking stupid (ETH included!?)
Posted this before, but presumably both clubs assumed Barca would be successful in forcing FDJ out, like they wanted. cant have imagined anyone would have expected Frenkie to be okay with taking a huge pay cut and being happy going in and out of the team. But he seems happy and settled there... strange one

Added to this, we have done business with De Jong's agent this Summer, and he has been in and out of Carrington a number of times, so surely, if it was an emphatic NO, from De Jong, that message would have been relayed to united again and again...?!?!

In my opinion, it was always dependent on whether he would ultimately decide to leave or not. With the financial shenanigans at Barca and all the talk of getting him off the wage bill, it looked like he'd likely be leaving and we had and agreement in place for that eventuality.
In the face of pressure from the board to leave/reduce his wages and backlash from the fans, no one really expected him to dig his heels in, back himself to fight for his place and to tell Barca 'feck you pay me' Goodfellas style. It doesn't look like he ever fell out with Xavi or his teammates and this was all the board. He's apparently happy and settled in Barca at a club he loves.
He's a stubborn lad and it looks like he'll get what he wants. For all the amazing person I admire talk I admire the balls in sticking to his guns.

In the airport video he's clearly carrying a suit with him. If it isn't for a wedding then it's quite likely for a signing and presentation hopefully at Old Trafford.

who plans a wedding in the opening weeks of the season anyway, not very professional. They should be training or resting and prepare for the important games against Leicester. If we can win three confidence will grow and we will get closer to the top 4. Very important and very unprofessional to plan a wedding in these opening weeks. He has had all summer to get married.
I just agree with quite a few people who say London is a bit of an odd place to spend a holiday for a young millionaire. You'd expect him to be somewhere hot.
Of course because it's London, the regulars in Spain are running the BS that he's going to Chelsea

He’s only prolonging the inevitable by staying there. Hopefully at some point throughout the season he’ll see sense. Fair enough if he loves the city, but he can move back there when he retires. A career is short.
I do hope he barely plays this season, and if he doesn't regret his decision, it'll just be further proof attitude wise he's not the right fit for what we want at the club.

I agree that it's very very odd. I just don't see him going to Chelsea and the fact that he's come with Depay who is also rumoured to be coming to us too... hmmmm
