City enjoy cucking us for our targets these days, wouldn't surprise me at all if they go for FDJ now.

ETH has a lot of work to do unfortunately.

When has that ever happened? It's usually the other way around

All posturing to ensure Barca receive as much as they can for De Jong.

Probably haggling over how much is paid up front.

Netherlands last nations league game is 14th June, wouldn't expect much before then

No, they have a debt issue. And selling Frenkie isn't really doing much with cash flow unless they get the whole fee immediately, which won't happen
They won’t stop at selling De Jong this summer. I think their case is helped if they massive reduce the wage budget also.

They need to reduce the wage bill and he is one of their top earners. They will also need to sell more than De Jong anyway

Reducing their wage bill is much more important than cash flow.
If they don't drop the wage bill, they can't register players. Cash will come, especially from the Spotify deal.

Both of these will be ignored and people will carry on as though a Bernardo/Frenkie swap deal is basically done and we've missed out because we're shit.
Maybe because those sources are terrible!

It's possible that it's all just noise to get our offer up but the source talking about a possible swap is at least credible.

If we agree a fee with Barce before the 14th it wouldn’t be hard to complete the deal. He will probably be in the Caribbean on holiday on the 15th

Why are they credible?

Spanish press is turning against him. Apparently its his leadership quality that is letting him down and not the position.

It has begun. I think FDJ will be out of Barca by 20th June

Why dont we move on from this mess.We dont need to beg someone to join us and we want players that are fully committed to the cause.

Romano been saying the same crap for months but yet we are still talking to Barca. He didn’t even green light that until it was obvious. He knows nothing about this transfer mate.

Because Romano and other journalists are repeating same things 5 times a day to keep in news. Nobody knows what discussions we had with FDJ.

They have proven sources at Barca. They have been proven to get the majority of their stories right over the years.

Trouble is, clubs use good sources to create a bidding war over their players at times.
There are none more proven than Gerard Romero and Oriel Domenech. So in that case shouldn't we believe them before others?

Fact is, all these people say the info they are fed. That info could be true or could hide a thousand agendas. So to twist yourself in knots just because one journo said something is silly.

I sure hope that we have a cut off period on this deal.

Just seems like it's De Jong or bust at the moment, which is not a good sign going forward.

We need to set a deadline and if the player is still not "convinced", then we need to move on to other targets.

Absolutely.

As I said though, clubs can also make good sources look silly when they put false info out to ramp up interest.

That's why it's called silly season.

Yup. I would have thought the Ronaldo transfer last season should have made people realize that journos, no matter how credible, only know as much as clubs or agents want them to know.

No one had any inkling that the most recognisable player on the planet was coming to one of the biggest clubs in the world, until our manager basically announced it in his press conference, and then they all jumped on the bandwagon.

This doesnt make any sense. If Barca need the money then what’s the point in basically swapping him for Silva?
Nonsense
It’s about creative accounting. It wouldn’t be a swap, it’d be something like Barca signing Bernardo for 70m and City signing Frenkie for 70m. So essentially a swap, but in Barca’s books they get 70m in, and the 70m out is amortised. Similar to what they did with Arthur and Pjanic.

Assuming that the claims of him needing to be convinced are true (and honestly who knows with transfer stories at the best of times) then is it really surprising? We're in the middle of a huge transition across the whole club and he's already had one big move that hasn't worked out to plan. Assuming he would sign a 5 year contract this is the move that will be for his prime years of his career so i get that he might want to know exactly what the long term plans are. The fans have literally invaded the stadium and postponed a game asking the exact same questions.

Hopefully if Barca accept the offer, proper talks can happen and he can see where the club is going and be interested in being one of the figureheads of that journey.

The article about his failings as a leader. They don't think he's upto the task at Barca

So they're making him out to be the bad guy ahead of an inevitable departure for PR purposes.

Thia is all bullshit. I am sure by now the club have a very good idea if the player is willing to join or not.

Legit, the player is probably very open to it, but wants to wait until nations league before making a decision.
