Gross profit is before any expenses. I agree that if we didn’t have to worry about costs, we could just buy whoever and indeed whatever we wanted.

I think the operating profits of United is a good 300M+ GBP per year, I think United got around 150M from the EPL, the total revenue is above 500M total.

When you take away expenses it's really not far off the mark that United can still continue to spend and structure deals over the next year or two if they wanted. I think there's still Frenkie money which sounds insane.

I don’t want to derail your strategy with facts, so please forgive me, but operating profit in 2019, the last pre pandemic year, was 24m. 2018 it was a 50m loss. 2017 it was 50m profit. That should give you an idea of our net income range.

We spent nearly 200m this summer. Which will be spread out in installments. But we are also still paying older transfer instalments.

But yeah, by all means. Who is going to notice another 100m?

If we do do it, it will only be either (a) sell to buy for the next few windows/tiny budget, (b) as a heavily structured deal. Or (c) because there Will be an equity sale used to fund this and other investments.

Man Utd are supposed to have a 200M cash credit loan that can be used at any time its needed is probably beeing used now i heard on the norwegian MUFC fan club podcast.

Where did this rumour come from that they were here for Donny's wedding? Seems very weird to go with that line.

Facts and true figures are welcome because that's where we know what's realistic

Pandemic year was a large hit due to the fans in stadiums, 16/17, 17/18, 19/20 United spent over 180m euros each window on players.

So the 2017 window we could have arguable spent 50-60m more, but United need outgoings this season too players left as free agents so I guess we will see.

I still think looking at previous seasons United can afford to spend more (if they wanted)

Please do. Rome's a shithole and we're about to elect an actual fascist as PM. The muppets can only improve the situation

Then we can make @Penna PM
Says the man whose club president verged on receiving such a label.

Also i think getting tangled in Italian politics is the last thing the poor sods that are United fans need, we've suffered enough

If it was anything transfer related, you can be certain Sport would have published some nonsense article by now.

What about the investment the Glazers have been looking for?

All the transfer news seemed to really kick into gear when this went public. May not be public news yet but wouldn't surprise me if we've had some cash pumped in to help us get a decent warchest going?

It feels like we've seen Barca with their levers and thought why not try the same

So there is no wedding, yet FDJ and Depay are in London. It’s a bit suspicious, isn’t it?

this might go against forum rules but how many “holy shit it’s happening” posts or posts to that end do you think we’d have to make to make people who come in here intermittently think it’s happening

It’s been my thought that yes, this would partly be funded by an equity sale. Just like an old Trafford redevelopment. Then I think, this is as close as the Glazers ever get to putting their own money in. Ie selling their shares to fund players, and then I realise that even the idea of that probably sends them into cold shivers.

The only possibility is that they are doing it to protect long term asset value, and that would only matter if a sale was looming in the short to medium term.

He is clearly not getting married.

Unless he's an absolute cheapskate, who gets married on a Monday / Tuesday?

Impossible, all the players get married during the holiday in june, surely not in September.
Never happened in history
