Another midfielder?

Can you smell, what The Murtough is cooking?!?!?

He is cooking a large load of bullshit.

They freaked-out after Brentford, but when we beat Liverpool, they relaxed again and went back to the usual "as long as media talks about us buying somebody, we don't actually have to". I won't be surprised if we don't sign ANYBODY in the remaining time. Maybe Antony, at most.

And, just say, it was only Antony we signed now. That is one brilliant transfer window we’ve had.

When FDJ signs there will be so much transfer muppet jizzing going on that Andrex will be our next shirt sponsors.

Well, I don't know if I'll make it to be honest, I've got more pressing matters at the moment, unfortunately. I'll be here for the muppety goodness though
Just what someone gunning for the win would say to get everyone guard down.

Richfay? Is he reliable... not sure if he is you know. Might be but I don't know
Rich Fay isn't bad, but he normally reports on the youth teams.

But contrary to what Fay is reporting, Jason Burt in the telegraph has stated we're trying to sign 4 more players before the close of the transfer window. And the 4 positions he's mentioned are a forward, RB, GK and a midfielder.

If you listen to Sheth the other night he suggested we have budgets for different areas of the team, trouble is because we needed a RB, LCB, DM, CM, RW & ST at start of the window we aren't able to splash it all on just a midfield rebuild.
I'm always of the opinion that the spine of the team is most important. Maybe we could still challenge with Dalot at RB, Sancho at RW even if he's better from the left, that kind of thing. Square pegs in round holes is not as much of an issue for those positions (in my view).

I don't think you can do that if you don't have your core squad nailed down. It's why I'm not 100% on board the Antony wagon because I feel we need a De Jong, or that type of player, and De Gea has added a headache to the mix now as well.

Having a midfield that can shield the back, recieve the ball from deep and play progressive passes, and be creative is truly transformational for us, moreso than anything else. If we can't get De Jong, then we should be looking at alternatives because Casemiro is not an alternative. He only solves half of what we've been needing (and solves it very well of course - great signing!).

I firmly believe that we need that type of player to compete, more than anything else. Xavi, Modric, Scholes, Carrick, Pirlo, Busquetes, Thiago, Verratti, Alonso, Kroos - almost every great team in modern times I can think of has had that profile of player that we just can't seem to sign.

Anyway, my rambling over. I agree with you though - we can't ever seem to solve a problem area because we start every window needing what feels like half a starting 11.

The last paragraph sums it up perfectly

This is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard on this site

A few desperate ITKs desperate for their last few clicks on this before the window closes. All reputable journalists have said this is over.

But, on the plus side if we sign Antony, and I think we will, a window of Malacia, Martínez, Casemiro, Eriksen, and Antony, is pretty superb. All being starters at this point.

Just worry about the lack of tempo in midfield

To be fair they have said no such thing. It may not be likely but what they have consistently briefed is that he is the number one target for ETH and so they will happily do the deal on deadline day if it can be done. The issues blocking the transfer have always been between Frenkie and Barca and our position has been unchanged for months now, if he decides to come or Barca succeed in forcing him out we will happily close the deal but in the meantime we will carry on with our other business.

No they didn't. After the Casemiro signing, they said it would be unlikely, but there's still a slim chance. Nothing changed so far, either he accepts a pay cut to stay or they force him out and we'll be waiting.
