We really don't.

We only have cash flow issues for slapping a good few hundred million down on stadium and training renovation which could cost £500m+.

Nope.
United have less cash in the bank than it did 2/3 years ago due to the pandemic. Its also spent very big on players and not recouped much from transfers. Which means its net annual transfer expenditure is far in deficit.
Its also bringing in less revenue due to its failures on the pitch even though outgoing payments like dividends and interest have not slowed or reduced.

Stadium and renovations will actually cost closer to a billion+ and that is not a cashflow issue there but a rather more serious one.

It is so on! All of it.
Untill September 1, midnight, or he is smiling at us in red shirt on twitter, or we get to 2000 posts. Gonna be fight, but we can do it.
It’s hard when there’s not much out there to discuss! The tweets seem to have dried up and Romero is banned from twitch so we’re running on fumes here! Also the lower numbers posters need to pull there socks up and do there part. It can’t all be on brownie now berba has fallen. Again. Onwards to 2000!

You mean the one article from Forbes which is an opinion piece?

Yes. off to Liverpool. Medical at Aintree University Hospital at 17:04 today.

Sad times for all involved :(. I see now that the ever-reliable TEAMtalk is also reporting it so we can just chalk it down :(.

Seriously though, can you imagine the meltdown? At least we won the match, if Liverpool had beaten us and then they signed FdJ there'd be blood .

This is a CR last summer situation all over again. The club have to get the chequebook out of there is any sniff of him going to the scousers. It would arguably be worse than if we let Ronnie go to City.

I still hope obviously but I'm just being realistic.
Oh, you never know, I still think United will pull United stuff. Get him on deadline day and all the media talking about him. I can imagine Arnold counting clicks, likes, retweets, etc.
Then boom: "Frenkie goes to Manchester!" tweet at 11:59, or 10:59 in England.
Followed by video from Erik: "Now we fecking brilliant play football!"
Twitter goes down, Musk gets angry, buys United, it's a win win win!

I’m looking forward to the post-mortem of this failure when the window shuts. It’s been a clear failure. As Andy Mitten said in the latest podcast he’s never given any indication that he wants to come, so all the trips to Barcelona etc agreeing the deal was completely pointless. This should only have been pursued if it was clear he wanted to come. He’s clearly never said that or it would have been done somehow.

Been told Barca's seriously looking at paying Frenkie's deferred wages so he will accept departure to United. Condition is however that this Redcafe topic needs to be levered to at least 2500 pages before the transfermarket closes, otherwise the deal's off. Barcelona alledgedly not impressed with the progress made in the past few days.

Right. That’s it.

All my restricted newbie posts will now be solely dedicated to this thread till the window ends.

Our cash balance as of Jun 2021 was £111m.

That's the second highest in the Premier League. Only Spurs have higher and that is due to £200m worth of financing.

Once again, we don't have cash flow issues. Financially we're very strong.

I don't see us getting both Antony and De Jong in one window, given the outlay with Casemiro & Martinez already. Unless of course Maguire gets sold to Chelsea for 60m.
Yeah never felt that was possible
Yeah, for sure.

The addition of Casemiro (£60m) essentially put to bed any hope for FDJ. With Anthony and Malacia setting the club back another £80m combined, I think it's fair to say our business is done for this window.

Hopefully, we'll go after FDJ again next summer after we've qualified for the CL and perhaps shown clear signs the club is progressing in the right direction, assuring FDJ that he won't be wasting his career by joining us.
There was a segment on skysports yesterday, I think it was where Damerseth said we are so keen that if De jong becomes available we maybe use some of next year's budget to sign him now.
The big If is, will he become available.

The Liverpool rumours are absolute nonsense!

There is no way they'd break their wage structure for a player like De Jong, look how long it took them to agree a deal with Salah!

It's happening.........have faith

It's just all very depressing and inevitable as the Casemiros and Antonys come and go while de Jong is still getting minutes in a Barca shirt a week before the transfer window closes.

Makes no sense whatsoever.

The deal looks quite straight forward to me and I never thought that it would drag all summer.

1. Man Utd desperately want FDJ
2. Barca and Man Utd agreed transfer fees
3. Man Utd have no problem paying FDJ wages
4. Barca want to sell FDJ or forced him to take paycut
5. FDJ make it clear that he won't take paycut
6. Barca don't need FDJ and use him as subs and even played him at CB
7. It's world cup year and FDJ needs to leave for first team football
8. FDJ work with ETH before and played his best football under him

All these points to no brainer that FDJ should already be Man Utd player long ago. Somehow, somewhere there are still gaps that we can't closed. But it's definitely still hope. It doesn't make sense for all parties (Man Utd, Barca and FDJ) if FDJ stays at Barca.

FDJ reads the redcafe and knows that the club is in “shambles “. Who would want to join a club in shambles? Shambles!!!

This is what I’m struggling with too. It’s not like the Sancho deal where BVB wanted him, Barca are actively trying to push FDJ out - how isn’t he here yet?!!
