Never had any confidence in Fabrizio on this saga, beyond my muppet bias he is not an investigative journalist. He does not interpret or critically analyse the briefs he receives. In a saga such as this which is all smoke and mirrors, his black and white style is not useful or interesting.

If he still won’t budge after seeing United take Liverpool apart under the lights in front of 75,000 at a raucous Old Trafford then it’s his loss.

That’s not even considering we’ve got the best in the business to mop up after him in Casemiro.

So why didn't he just tell Erik that 3 months ago

I think he's just stringing Erik along for options. You don't want to shut any doors unnecessarily in case life gives you lemons, but his personal preference is clear to me

We are (or were) clearly desperate enough to allow ourselves to be strung along, so it works for him and it works for us.

Big day today!

Because he's actually open to coming here and always was regardless of his love of Barca (which I reckon will be as dead and shrivelled as a crap marriage). I know people will laugh but i still believe that and have more than a shred of hope this is happening. :wenger:

But they were done before August.

In all honesty I think Arnold/Murtough have done exceptionally well this summer.

The FDJ/Casemerio scenario was difficult and different for a number of reasons - EtH’s insistence on getting FDJ in resulting in delaying getting in alternatives. In fact an agreement was in place for FDJ in June! The whole issue is the deferred payments.

I was talking about the Antony (may or may not happen still) and Casemiro deals. I have high hopes for Casemiro, but the club were not even in for a DM and bought one only because of our disastrous start to the season. We are almost into September and still lack a ball carrying midfielder and a forward addition. These are all essential holes to fill in the team.

Look at how the big clubs do their business. Look at City who got in Haaland and Phillips first week of July. They got a proper pre-season in with Guardiola.

It is a negligent, nevermind exceptional, conducting of operations by A/M.

Or, EtH wanted to assess his squad first and make decisions? After the first 2 games, he clearly saw what was wrong, and decided to go and get what he needs.

ETH has been talking about the importance of making additions - and making comparisons to how rivals have done their business quickly - from as far back as pre-season in Australia.

How about a €17m loan fee with an obligation to buy for the arranged money next season? They get the wages off the books, they can pay him the money using the loan fee and then also get their money next season. We get him now and the only disadvantage is we are paying the €17m they owe him but let’s face it, there’s no other way this gets resolved. It’ll also mean we kick the transfer down the street until next season and can afford Antony and Gakpo this year.

That is assuming he would even join us!

It's not for Barca to decide. The only way Barca can force this is by terminating his contract and paying him out which is absolutely not going to happen.

Anyway, FDJ is not getting told to train alone. In fact, he's getting into the starting lineup when needed.

In theory they can force him out if the manager tells him he is not in his plans and he wont start him. In that situation FDJ has 2 choices - sit on the bench and get his wages - or be sold. But its a really shitty thing to do from a club.

So out of FDJ and Casemiro - which would have been the better fit for United ? I actually think Casemiro is more right for us than FDJ - but I think FDJ would be a lot better for us if we also had Casemiro, rather than FDJ with Eriksen/Bruno/MCT/Fred

So is that deal dead now? I really don't understand why we were trying and not making it happen. Like at some point, we need players to control the midfield. It's just needed.

What's the situation with kounde?
Still haven't registered him have they?
Getting rid of depay won't be enough as they'd still have to sell auba, let's hope Chelsea or juve fo us a favor and don't go for them.

Even if they wanted to keep de jong surely the ignominy of letting one of their announced new purchases to go for free should force their hand.

Also Chelsea isn't for him and I doubt bayern is in for him either and that leaves us.

Barca been starting DeJong so I think the deal is long dead.

14 million for Garner sounds ridiculous. He's 21 years old and was a star player in the Championship last season, surely you could get more. Hopefully we get a buy back clause in any deal, otherwise it seems ludicrous.
Outside us there aren't many clubs value our youths that much. 5 million tops.

Aren’t Barcelona getting close to that weird deadline in Kounde’s contract that allows him to walk away to any team he wants for free?

Yes but your team is going to help them register the defender they stole from you by buying Aubameyang from them so no worries.

@Dennis Viollet is not Goldbridge, no way. For all his faults, Goldbridge is a wordsmith. It's his job to spout the same shit in different ways.

Dennis is a just a sad sod. Which is worse than being Goldbridge.
Worse than being a made up guy who pretends to support a team just to spew faux outrage and vitriol about said club and rile up the real fan base in the interest of monetising clicks?!
Damn, I pity the fool!
