It is but it wouldn't be my determining factor (in isolation).
If it was a reality & you’re not just thinking about what you’d do given the choice. I think you’d too stay put - no one is just giving up €17M that you’re owed. It is a ridiculous amount of money to walk away from.

I dislike Goldbridge as much as anyone, but the point he is making is right.

Most of these deals could have been done well before August and we would have had a settled 11 by now. Unlike other big clubs, United don't do their deals early, and this hampers the manager and the team's preparations. This is directly attributable to how the Glazers run the club.
But they were done before August.

In all honesty I think Arnold/Murtough have done exceptionally well this summer.

The FDJ/Casemerio scenario was difficult and different for a number of reasons - EtH’s insistence on getting FDJ in resulting in delaying getting in alternatives. In fact an agreement was in place for FDJ in June! The whole issue is the deferred payments.

Malacia: 5th July

Eriksen: 15th July

Martinez: 17th July

Goldbridge is pro-Ronaldo so I don't think Dennis is him sadly going by his recent post on Ronaldo... unless it's a smokescreen!

Is there a load of hidden posts? What meltdown? Is this pitiful quite clear acceptance the meltdown so many were giddy for?

People saying how it's embarrassing that we've been chasing him for 3 months. People having a go at FdJ for not wanting to come, etc. Comical. ;)

What’s crazy is as soon as I posted about it being Mark Goldbridge’s Caf account getting rumbled (in jest), then the tweet got deleted immediately. Then as soon as I posted it had been deleted, it got reinstated immediately.

@Dennis Viollet is 100% Goldbridge!
That’s not how tweets work. You can’t delete a tweet and then make it appear again at the same time it was originally tweeted.

How can you say they have done well when it’s clear that we have gaping holes is the squad? It’s that simple.

They knew since long before ETH the importance of this summer, when contracts were running out, what players wanted to leave….the signings were not impressive at all and were in fact pretty straightforward deals.

Malacia - no top sides were in for him
Martinez - overpaid in comparison to what Arsenal had initially/seemingly agreed
Eriksen - free transfer that could have been in much sooner if he was a genuine target.
Casemiro - everyone accepts is a panic buy…albeit a seemingly goood one…but a direct response to being torn apart by mid table sides in our first 2 games.

lets not forget the poor deals we are getting on our outgoing players and on finding quality loans for our youth.

im Not a doom merchant but this summer has been a shit show when we needed calm professional leadership. Thank god we have a good coach. He will buy the muppets at the top time to get the right players in.

Or, EtH wanted to assess his squad first and make decisions? After the first 2 games, he clearly saw what was wrong, and decided to go and get what he needs.

Sacking a manager 48 hours prior to an important CL game & rushing around to find a replacement when we’ve just had an international break, make you understand how incompetent & clueless this club really is. We’re actually ran by unable people.
Oh no, there’s more!

That’s what i thought but the tweet was definitely appearing as deleted on here for a few minutes. Then reappeared without the link changing.

There was a guy who did this previously, though in a different way - used to lift posts from here and put it on other social media. Can't remember who it was
I can understand if one agrees with something they read. But at least reword it or just post the source.

I can’t see how his position at Barcelona is tenable at all.

The only way this can continue is if he caves and signs a new deal on half of his wages. Even if Barcelona manage to register Kounde and anyone else they may sign through the sale of other players like Aubameyang, Memphis, Dest and co - all incoming players, and existing senior players, have already adjusted to the ‘new salary structure’ at the club. Following Pique’s reduction and Busquets pending one - De Jong would be overwhelmingly the highest paid player at the club, far above what his status dictates. I can’t see how that is a situation that works. He’s not their star player, others will not like that, and Barcelona wouldn’t like that.

He can’t want a scenario where the season is ongoing with Barcelona trying to take him to court to void his contract due to it being ‘illegal’. Again, other than him accepting a reduced deal - he has to leave.

Not sure why a loan deal hasn’t been discussed though. The issue is him not wanting to break his contract which guarantees him astronomical wages this season, which Barca are obligated to pay if he stays. Barca don’t want to pay them, and United can’t legally pay the difference in wages to sign him. Surely we could just loan him and agree to cover his wages, which would get him his exorbitant salary without any foul play suggesting we are paying any deferrment?

It seems we're in the plagiarize arc of the thread
Wonder when we get to the redemption part.

Fantastic post. It will put all the moaners/whingers in the mud. Facts are facts.

It needs to be pinned.

Anyway never say never, so I hold out hope till the window closes.

We might have a go again either in the jqn window(highly unlikely) or next season where we could potentially start the negotiations in a better position and with more leverage (pun Intended? )

Still it might just be the Muppet in me but I feel we're still gonna make a final push for i mean Barca should be still trying to sell because what is there for their mouthpieces to run news about him.

Big day today!

Anyone saying they would give up the 17M is full of shite. If it's such a small sum of money, then FC Levers or United should pay it.

I’d love to sign FDJ, but a midfield of Casemiro and Eriksen is a huge upgrade on McFred. McFred basically go from first options to the backup players. We still need another CM for depth.

Lads just stop. There's no chance in hell we get Malacia, Martinez, casemiro, Anthony AND De Jong. Just the Glazers blowing smoke

The problem is, I don’t actually believe the 17m is the problem. I’m sure FDJ wants his 17m but I’m also convinced Utd would happily pay it.

I don’t believe the rumours that FDJ only wants Barca to pay it out of principle. Footballers don’t care less where the money comes from as long as they get it. I don’t think FDJ would choose to stay just because Barca didn’t pay the money from their own pocket.

I just think the guy just doesn’t want to leave due to many factors including non-football related like lifestyle, spouse wishes etc.
