Seems to be a strong pat of xavi's plans so he's probably out of our reach now but hey having eth dies still make me think there's a slight possibility.
A man can dream eh?
Edit: I would like to fix that part but it's too hilarious to do so.

Bloody hell, I didn't expect that announcement.

Why? He is an active player playing for one of the biggest clubs out there surely it warrants a thread.

It's a transfer thread not football forum thread though. Post it in football forum thread not in transfer thread if there is no any new transfer link.

Time and time again he talks of his love of Bacelona, he is playing regularly again and playign well. Unless he is forced out to balance the books by Barcelona, never going to happen.

With some of the youngsters breakign through at Barca, that is a small possibility but dont see it.

Excellent player though, always felt the good Ajax side a couple of years or so back, both he and DeLigt stood out way above some of the others mentioned like VDB, Ziyech, Neres etc

God I hope this happens, seeing him trapped in that weird Vd Beek ish running forward hybrid role at Barca is killing me. He should play in a midfield 2 in front of the defense. He'd fit like a glove playing next to Fred and behind Bruno.

Do it.

The best CB to CDM hybrid player Ive seen technically.

Said it a while ago, it's realistically the only valuable player they can sell that will make them money, where they have sufficient cover. I can definitely see them trying to use the sale of him to fund their summer.

I have no doubt he will be a target and that Ten Hag will be in his ear.
Would he leave Barca, would they sell him? I doubt it, maybe next summer

If he does leave then I do see United as a realistic candidate though.

He's not been a definitive success at Barca if you ask me. They have no idea what his position is for starters.

If you had to spend £100 million on one midfielder to transform the whole team, this is the man. He hasn’t even been playing in his favourite DM spot much because of Busquets. If we signed him alone I’d give us a good chance of top 3 next season. Will never happen though.

I agree. Just don’t think they would sell when Busquets is eventually going to be phased out. Who knows.

With Gavi, Pedri and Busquets aswell - are they a bit more lenient towards keeping the homegrown players in your opinion? Especially the younger ones.

100%, also they need to nail Gavi down to a contract too. Nico is another one who could also play in midfield as well, they'll prioritise those players in my opinion.

Ten Hag specifically told Dutch medium Voetbal International how he saw De Jong as a player: ‘His quality is that he ensures that the ball gets into the final third. He is an adventurer, always on the move. Often with the ball, sometimes without the ball. Can you put him at six as the only link? He leaves the middle of the pitch too often for that. And if you don’t give him the freedom to go forward, you won’t get the best out of his game.’

Would need a DM next to him.

Remember he's only 19 and played an absolutely obscene amount of football in a year. He'll be fine.
Would definitely be a shame if he ended up like that but getting injury prone in such a young age is never a good sign.
Hopefully you're right.

yeah, he wasn't the "DM" at Ajax for the important games. Even though he liked to drop deep. Funnily enough the "DM" in those games was Schöne, an aging attacking midfielder/winger. So in a system were every thing is working well together, you don't actually need a true DM, just one player that is just decent enough and sticks to the position/role.

Would be a dream. I’d take him and Declan alone this summer if not for the precarious MG situation, but we do need to add some goals from somewhere. Declan and FFJ potentially gives us a double pivot as good as any in the world.

He’s obviously class but can’t see it happening. Would be better hoping our new management team know of a cheaper alternative who can do the job.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.

It depends on what definition you use to describe DM.

What being described here is very standard midfield deep lying play maker, where you build around him with a "responsible" partner. This partner ideally would be well rounded with great mobility and engine. Not a Makelele type.

F de Jong and Tchouameni in theory should be a tasty combo
