maybe he has a few sources within Chelsea but i highly doubt he's well connected with the transfer side of things. If he had connections to Boehly himself, he'd be classed as undisputed tier 1 as everything he says would be from the main man himself

Imagine if we signed an alternative a week ago and Chelsea came out today saying "We decided not to go for it" and Barca somehow wrangled FDJ into leaving.

Howso? If there was a chance we could get someone he knew , is very good and who he wanted to base our team around, why shouldnt we try to get him? We clearly have had alernative targets in place so its not like they have been snatched up in the meantime.

How is any of this on Murtaugh ? He did his job and persuaded the club to sell - it was ETH who couldnt persuade FDJ to join us - and wasted the entire summer rather than signing someone else.

You could well be right, but as I said, he's been a pretty reliable Chelsea ITK on transfers. Most of the details we've gotten about the Fofana stuff, for example, has come from him.

Again theres no absolute solid proof that he wants to join Chelsea. Ornstein said if he was to leave, he's no preference on where he goes. That means he's not ruled anyone out.
Chelsea journos are obviously going to spin it to say that he wants Chelsea. United journos say we're still confident he wants us. They say that because no one fecking knows where he wants to go IF he has to leave. He wants to stay, thats the only certain news we have

Every single report (and we had plenty of them) saying FdJ doesn't want to leave Barca, doesn't want to join United or prefers joining Chelsea instead of us, is getting dismissed immediately as not reliable by some here. Our entire hopes for the transfer lies on "we would not be in it if we didn't have indications of him willing to come here". But I think people put way too much faith in our club with this one. It was fun while it lasted but now it became boring with people simply trolling because nobody can actually believe we are getting him.Woodward would have made this happen

I don't think he did. There is still time left in the transfer window. We didn't sign other players during the time we could sign FDJ because if we did, and FDJ became available, we would not have the funds to sign FDJ as we'd have already signed another player for that position. They are now looking at other players and there is still plenty of time.
Now, some of the other signings that are being considered are very concerning to me, sure. But the way they went about FDJ and not signing a replacement until they are sure FDJ won't join us is nothing to scoff at, it's smart business.
I hope Barca steal Fofana as well
