Love how all the doomsayers are coming out celebrating some kind of moral victory because they “predicted” this was never going to happen.

I’m going to go toss a coin and celebrate if I predict it right.

And anyone who said this was mocked and berated.
I have been criticised for saying this countless times. It was even been suggested that I give it a rest with the negativity.

The excuses afforded have been absurd. "we wouldn't still be in the deal", "it's just a case of the deferred wages, which we can't legally pay", "privately told EtH he will join".

Or is the reality that we are run by feckless clowns?

It's more annoying that they seem to believe absolutely any source that says it's not happening. I think to most doomers, Indykaila would be a tier 1 if he said it wasn't happening

Remember, this was meant to be a new United in the transfer market. New personnel, new strategy etc.

It's very odd.

You probably should still give it a rest because it’s tiresome nonsense listening to it. Not because it may be true, but because you are just as clueless as anyone in this saga. So to pretend you have predicted anything right is like me guessing it’s going to rain next week and then laughing at people who didn’t believe me. Geez.

This makes ETH look silly to say the least. I am of course not going to judge him after one transfer window and one match, and I still think he was the best manager available - but he is off to an awful start. And he must take a lot of the blame for that himself

Yeah, i'm the one that rapes and pillages. What a dumb thing to say.

The man hasn't said a word about us, or Barcelona, or Chelsea....he's keeping quiet.

If you go by latin - qui tacet consentire videtur.

Where on earth did you see read that he doesn't want to sign for us?
Like I said you can't take a clue. Take Lisandro Martinez for example, we wanted him and there were clear reports that he spoke with Ajax management and pushed for the move. Same with Fofana now with Chelsea, he even posted on Instagram about taking better opportunities. It's clear he is pushing for the move to Chelsea. We are getting absolutely nothing from De Jong's side. All about staying in Barcelona or hoping for CL football. If our board had any sense they'd have given a deadline to agree personal terms with him and moved on to other targets.

If you only believe direct quotes from De Jong or his agent, then I'd suggest staying off the transfer forum and wait for concrete news.

Funnily enough I actually know one guy with enough to pull this deal off. He’d likely go in with another couple of high net worth guys and I jokingly brought it up with him the other day but he reckons the Glazers want 5bn for it and he doesn’t reckon it’s worth more than 3.5. He’s never actually a serious party for such an asset, but there are a lot of groups out there with the means to pull it off. It’s just all about pricing.

In all seriousness, there are enough consortiums and funds out there to pull this deal off easily if the Glazers are actually willing to sell. People mistakenly think it need to be one individual, but it probably won’t be. It’ll be a consortium, and right now the glazers are simultaneously pricing it out of the market and running it into the ground.

I worked closely with a guy a couple of years ago who was pretty close to a couple of the Glazers, and we talked United a fair bit. His impression was that they were waiting for a continental super league, the expansion of mobile content rights, especially in China and the rest of Asia, and tighter salary cap controls (that they hoped a super league would bring), to maximise value before a potential sale.
I see the MUTV live steams as their next big money spinner.

But that will be in the medium term just like the inevitable super league with quite a few American owners now, it will be the next natural progression. Be part of the domestic league but a updated CL that's heavily loaded with the historical clubs ie clubs with the biggest fan based being the permanent members and then like the PL you have a few who will be promoted.

So I imagine the Glazers see United being worth a lot more than £3.5B

But thats the same as saying it's ok to believe negative news regardless of the source and where it's coming from? I don't think half of these reporters know as much as they proclaim to know. They'll be getting sporadic info and expanding on it however they see fit with their own opinion. Even the super reliable ones such at The Athletic have added A LOT of opinion on their side, because theres just so little genuine info out there (other than what Barca WANT putting out there)

Sadly I agree, it's become automatic to blame the club, but I think we were all keen for him to get the targets he wanted in his first window and this lengthy pursuit appears to have been at his behest.

If Utd fail to sign FDJ, it’s going to be more damning on Murtough and Arnold.

If the deal doesn’t happen, Murtough will be praying he stays at Barca to minimise the reputational damage through this whole sage. Because at least they have a little bit of face saving by saying it ended up being too complicated.

However, if he ends up at Chelsea it’ll be an absolute disaster for Murtough/Arnold whereby the damage may be irreparable going forward. Because ultimately it’ll show the complications weren’t as deal breaking as was made out.

Hope it's true that we've given up

This saga sums up the mess that has been this window, and trusting utd's faith in getting this signing was so stupid. Moving on to SMS I hope may just save a rubbish window a little

Also, to be frenk, I kind of want to watch the muppets cry on here too when this isn't happening  nearing 1500 pages, my word....

Have you just woken up from a month long dream?

You do know the reason he's keeping quiet?

IT'S BECAUSE THEY OWE HIM MONEY!

It's not like we haven't been through all this.....for what now, almost1500 pages.

Here's hoping FDJ's confidence is rock bottom and mentality down the drain like Di Maria when he was burgled, Martial after his wife find out about his cheating or Maguire every Saturday.

I don't think Ben Jacobs is unreliable as such but I think his information on Chelsea is a lot more reliable than his information from Utd.

Looking on Reddit, they say he's done good on the sale side of things, but Transfers not so much. They rank him Tier 2.5 or so. He's not incredible, he just recycles news according to them

I had literally never heard of him until the takeover happened. He was fantastic with his information during that process. Seems like he has sources within the new ownership, maybe Boehly himself, so he's fairly new on the Chelsea ITK scene, but he's been pretty reliable on the Chelsea side of things.

Outside of Chelsea news, I suppose he just regurgitates already published news etc.

Think we could arrange for a threadban for voyeurs like this if it goes tits up, @golden_blunder  ?

Imagine if after chasing him for over 2 months, he ends up at Chelsea  Him staying would be somewhat understandable but joining Chelsea would be an absolute slap in the face for our top guys and ETH.
Over 3 months

You can’t be shocked if we’ve fudged this after 3 months when you look at the last 10 years. This is why so many are negative.

Its amazing how people can post without reading prior comments/posts -- and then blab out something that's incorrect but think it like some new biblical revelation.

Close to agreeing a fee

It’s not like a club has already agreed a fee
It's just going round and round in circles, getting boring and repetative. Literally the same news day after day. Chelsea have been in advanced negotiations for about 2 weeks now by all accounts.

No true pal. I based my assessment on what I've seen from the club in this window - the same signs as in previous years and didn't buy in to company men Murtough and Arnold (who have been at the club for however many years) running the show as regards transfers.

Nothing wrong with saying I told you so, and trust me I'm not enjoying one second of this summer transfer window.

Yes , its so funny when people’s hope of a better season gets ripped to shreds isnt it

This one is on the manager. Don’t get me wrong the board etc are cancer but this pursuit is completely down to the manager who’s had the worst possible start. Not good.
