Assuming the money on offer is the same, it would be a sign of how far this club has fallen that a player would choose a club like Chelsea over signing for Manchester United. Christ. Sad times.

Cavani was a panic buy, Ighalo was a panic buy, the recent Arnautovic pursuit is panic.

None of these were planned targets. No one actually believes this to be the case, it was a scurry to find bodies who can do a job.

I don't think those classify as panic buys, especially Cavani. He was a free transfer coming off injury and the club was monitoring him and brought him in when he was fit, or close to it. Ighalo was an emergency striker and it proved to be an astute signing, similar to Cavani the first year.

Marko's case is more like scrapping the barrel because the striker position is not very good, plus their primary targets (Antony, Sesko) have been priced out or are going somewhere else.

Players have left for Chelsea previously, including Peter fecking Kenyon. Obi Mikal, then Hazard, etc. This situation has been absolutely bizarre because of Barcelona.

Chelsea being in the CL, for now, and the fact it is located in London are very much those factors players consider. And the player's family.

Barcelona yet to register new signings
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62478210

Season starts on Saturday folks, running out of time!
There are still plenty of time, but they have to surely work really hard non-stop. They just got Pique reduced the salary again, then Busquet tomorrow. I guess those two pay reductions will help them register two of new players? Then, it’s FDJ. Getting 75mil (19mil per year for four years) in fee and 28mil per year off payroll probably can help them register another three to four new players? Then, they still need to find fund to register the rest, new transferred-in and contract-renewed? I guess they don’t need to register all before the season opening , they can get all done before the end of the window, right?

not sure if serious, they've had their share of transfer wins over United over the years.

This is not true - they could have brought him in many weeks earlier and have him train with the club. He was without a club and the club capitalized on an opportunity. Marko is a panic. Ighalo was a panic emergency. This stuff happens when you have shit planning.

Also actually winning the champions league not only being in it unfortunately

Respectfully that's bollocks

They'll activate another lever, and reduce some salaries and will be fine. Sell or loan a few players.

They really might keep Frenkie I am thinking, they really like him but would prefer to sell. At the same time they refuse to give in. Well they do, but they don't care about the future.

How do you keep 'fighting for the badge' after the way he has been treated after this?

If you're without a club, then you can dictate those things too. Cavani doesn't fit your description of panic buying, especially when he was singled out. Marko was a target and the targets above him were exhausted.

Shit planning is different to having "shit" alternatives in terms of quality.

I wish we’d just walk away now seeing as it’s virtually certain De Jong isn’t coming, I’d rather we go in for Bennacer who apparently has a release clause and from what I’ve seen is about as close as you can get to De Jong although a level below.

If we went all in for a high intensity press machine in midfield alongside Bennacer then we’re far more in tune with the way ETH wants to play than we are with one of McTominay or Fred alongside Rabiot.

I mean Barca have been saying this for weeks but every time La Liga slaps them down with a no you fecking won't. I don't think anyone has pointed out to Laporta that La Liga has it's own accountants and they won't accept the numbers he scribbled on a napkin as proof of meeting FFP.
We as outsiders, observing from distance, actually see the consistent behavior under Laporta leadership. Their approach is consistent to try to squeeze the maximum out of minimum through “clever”/“creative” (semi-fraudulent and void of moral/honest ground). They did it to FDJ and the other players, they did it to the league.

Guess he has no heart or self-respect whatsoever if so, we will have dodged a bullet regardless of his talent.

Think he just wants his money, which is fair enough.

I don't get why the players are just not arsed about taking paycuts when barca have basically signed a new football team.

Well you can't win it unless you're in it and that's the position that Chelsea is in. Yes, they won it recently(ish), but their team isn't as good throughout a domestic campaign. Being in the Europa League allows a team to win the competition and gain entry into CL for the next season, but a player like FdJ allows you to start competiting for the league. That's the level and priority needed - win/compete for the league, CL, domestic cup.

A loan with an option to buy next year.
It will help Barca to get the money the own for de Jong, clear their wage structure and we get the man that ETH dreams of.

Barça have a big problem with Frenkie de Jong. He refuses to leave nor negotiate a salary reduction. The club admit that his current wage is totally out of proportion and dangerous for the FFP rules.

Frenkie De Jong neither wants to leave, nor reduce his salary. Maximum tension.

My simple question is this, last week supposedly Barca offered a 7 mil payout... Have they offered a full 17 mil payout?

It seems amazing to me that at some point Barca wouldn't just hand over the money instead of splashing cash on a new signing so they could register their new signings and end this whole mess.

This would make a lot of sense actually. Player gets guaranteed game time for the World cup, we get him off our wage books and United have 1 season to prove they can get CL football. Frenkie would also have an escape should that not happen. Unfortunately a fee is likely needed though if Xavi wants Bernardo Silva.

the chelsea rumors are that they would pay his deferred wages, so why would barcelona pay them.

The finger pointing for the sake of it is the simplest way to show one’s true judgment and also the most naive way. At least, one needs to sufficiently consider the context and circumstances before finger pointing, right? Especially in a game with two or more than two parties involved, judgement needs to consider all the circumstances including the other parties’ mindset, character, IQ, EQ, etc. You are finger pointing people because you just think they are shit and stupid. In a game, you are more than likely finishing the losing side.
Well, it’s entertaining to exchange ideas with you here mostly drifting away from FDJ saga. I will shift to other topics now.

Remember when we supposedly hired Tom Keane, a specialist transfer lawyer, right at the start of July, just a week or two before Barca apparently formally wrote to FDJ to spell out 'criminality' in his contract? What is he doing these days? He wouldn't have been brought in with a particularly complicated looking deal on the table would he? And he wouldn't have been brought in just before the Malacia deal would he? When we would have been at a table with FDJ's agent for a few days? This speculating lark is easy

He went in there clean as a whistle apparently.

Imagine having your life completely ruined being on xxxxx amount of money, and there's us. Working class people. At least he'd get propper dental treatment

Peter Kenyon is not a player but a cnut, Obi Mikel was basically stronghanded into signing for them instead of us (and they still had to pay us a big compensation), and the only reason Hazard went to Chelsea was because SAF refused to cave in to his agent's demands.

Who can blame Frenkie in all of this? He’s doing exactly what most of us would do. He has nothing to gain by doing anything but waiting and staying silent.

Frenkie de Jong is gnoJ ed eiknerF backwards. No means no (ffs rimaldo take the hint, I don't want your dickpics anymore). Ed is the name of the chinless shoe salesman who used to run the club. Eik is a Scots Law term for a supplemental document that allows an executor to administer an item of an estate.

No Ed? Contract!

That should be enough to confirm it to even the most anti-Muppet on this ad infested shithole.

But again, the fact that Chelsea have gotten into transfer situations with United and relevant players have chosen the London club over United has happened before. And yes, Kenyon is a cnut.

Word was we explored that option and it was deemed not legal.

Edit- Been looking for an article to bac me and appears that new developments indicate we are willing to pay the deferred wages.

Anyone have anything concrete please share!!
