Imagine if amazon or someone had one of those all or nothing documentaries in operation at the time.
It would basically be the players turning up to the Presidents office with a cup in their hands asking for their wages.

From being owed 17m in unpaid wages to owing Barcelona for invalid contracts. Man, FDJ bro I did tell you to get out of there sharpish

How the feck would he have to return his salary when he took a paycut for the first two years of the new contract? Surely they now legally owe him a fortune in unpaid wages? What is going on?

No chance that happens, they are just trying to force him out. They won't do anything to jeopardize any potential fee they receive.
But isn’t that what they are trying to do? Change their contracts? They can’t do it without going to court if the player don’t agree like Pique did.

The moral of the story is that if you want to sign for Barca in the future, you get 3 lawyers to read the contract

I cant wait for the day when Barcelona-fans (yes I know it wont happen) realize that the real blame lies with the persons responsible for giving a raving lunatic the presidency. Hm...how did he become elected again ? Did somebody maybe vote for him?

Guys, I do worry that if we manage to buy FDJ from Barcelona that after we pay them for him, they'll insist that the contract was illegal and we'll have to give FDJ back. :(

Or we refuse to pay the fee - claiming the deal was made by someone else and hence not valid.

I don’t understand, it’s their money. It’s not an increase, it’s deferred wages. It’s literally what they’re owed.

It's 'deferred wages' for a year which will then be turned into a goodwill donation back to Barca FC after the year because you love us really. Mes que un club, feckers!!!

This has turned into a Barcelona levers thread.

I commend everyone who is still posting and is optimistic. For me, this signing has been dead for quite some time.

It’s incredible how Barca have now become the most dislikeable club I’ve ever known - I wish abject failure on them and hope they go bankrupt.

The clowns in charge at the moment are not only playing Russian roulette with their finances but destroying a brand once loved by so many fans.

I really hope they win nothing next year.

Hope "Invalidate player's contract and request wages be repaid" becomes an option on FM 2023

Dead?! It's just getting started

This explains why he was looking so sulky after the match.

Wouldn't the signing of the new contracts null and void the previous contracts meaning they are all free agents
Presumably yes. In order to begin new contracts theyd need to end previous ones. To 'reactivate' a previous contract would probably require the agreement of all parties. In reality us even discussing this is giving it more creedence than its probably due. Barca are panicking about registering players before the league deadline and theyre pushing all the buttons in the hope that one will safely land the plane.

Aaaah man I hope I don't miss anything tomorrow...

Then again I'm going Alton Towers, so football will be the last thing on my mind for a few hours haha.

I think Mitten’s ‘increased’ optimism is coming from the fact that he seems certain that he’ll be pushed out of Barca. Maybe he thinks that once he accepts that he’s leaving Barca we’ll go even harder to try and convince him. Or that Chelsea aren’t THAT interested?

Either way, it’s fecking on
I think it is more that he cannot believe that United would still be fishing around if they hadn’t been given real hope to eventually sign De Jong. He recognises that De Jong saying nothing publicly isn’t a sign of disinterest and that there will (surely!) have been discussions between United and De Jong’s camp privately.

I’m of a similar mind, but I’m not sure I have quite the same faith that this isn’t a case of sheer incompetence.

Barcelona are unable to register their players with the 4th lever and need to generate €60m through sales or other income.

The patient is going through extreme trauma, and the ETA for death is 13th August.

That's my line of thinking too. I just can't see why we'd be sticking around if de Jong or his camp haven't assured us that he'd like to join. Even when Chelseas interest became apparent, we'd have wanted assurances that he was still interested and that we weren't wasting our time.

We've obviously been told something or we wouldn't be hanging around

Barcelona can't register their players with the 4th economic lever and will have to raise €60m through the sale of players or other income.

When the tax on the 4th lever hits and they have actually driven themselves 37.5m further into the red via tax:

If Chelsea have any sense they'll distance themselves from all this and not get caught in the middle like we have.

4th palanca didn’t help either? Do they have anything left to sell via 5th palanca, apart from Laporta’s butt? Or FDJ time is coming?

This is getting sorted this week, one way or another
