Why is the / in this thread title different to the \ in the other transfer thread titles?

Just get rid of the /\ altogether. They are fecking up the mojo.

Because this one is past its peak and is on the downward slope he's on his way, there's no mountain left to climb.

United ARE the fourth lever buying FDJ

Barca are that fecked at the moment why don't we just put in an offer to buy the whole club?

£100m and a bag of mini cheddars should do it me thinks

If United don't sign Frenkie then I will post a video of me singing You'll Never Walk Alone using the Colin sock puppet.

Barca fan here and not in hiding, just getting bored of this saga in all honesty as it's literally the same crap over and over again, page after page. Mental gymnastics, theories to suit agendas etc etc

My thoughts remain the same. Player doesn't want to leave but is being forced, wants to join a CL club as priority so his agent is likely offering him to Chelsea and feeding the media. For all the talk on here, you still haven't even agreed personal terms with the player, you know... something you usually do when a fee has been agreed between the two clubs but I'm guessing the excuse will be "Frenkie can't agree terms as he will forego his owed deferred wages" as usual, so spare me that reply.

As for the lever situation, it's unfortunate. I trust the club will have a backup plan in the event this would happen though. Whatever people think of Laporta, he's a smart guy and with Alemany, no matter how sneaky, the players will be registered.

It’s naive of you to think personal terms would be an obstacle after Utd have chased him for so long. In fact I’d bet that personal terms have already been discussed with his agent and been agreed upon IF the move was to ever happen. That’s how most transfers are done nowadays. In every club except Barca, the player normally gets paid what he’s agreed to in the personal terms.

Pot kettle black neatly wrapped in a single post.

Have you thought about what club to follow after Barcelona bankrupts itself in a couple years time?

An observation huh?

Well we have had an agreed deal for about a month or so now for €85M

Barca/FDJ have to sort out their issues first regarding the wages and then we’ll sign him.

Just how on earth is any of that their fault.

How on earth is getting a deal agreed a month ago, “incompetent”
I’m struggling to work out which bits of this frankly disjointed post I’m supposed to answer. Can you please punctuate it better?

Reading through the ramblings above, I am garnering that you seem to think we have an agreed deal with FCB for a specific amount (I knew that anyway) and that there are other issues.

Do you think this agreement is a measure of competence RE our higher ups doing the best to make sure we set up our new manager to hit the ground running this season and improve the fortunes of our club?

If your club had an ounce of integrity, this saga would be long over and Frenkie would be getting ready to start the season at another club (probably United).

It's good to watch some Barca posters come in and immediately start defending Barcelona. Almost panic like. I have to say, I have thoroughly enjoyed their misfortunes. Here's to another few years of " activate more levers!!!"

You have zero actual evidence he hasn’t agreed to terms. None of us really know. It’s all total speculation. You’re basically picking and choosing the info you want to be true that fits your own perspective. So whatever believe what you will…

I can see Perez getting LaLiga's Tebas and UEFA to do some preliminary investigations into Barca's books and its creative accounting next season -- especially if it starts the season well or win some silverware later in the season.

Respectfully, reaching an agreement to personal terms is not a barrier to getting this over the line. The barrier is the deferred wage payments.

I’ll be the first to acknowledge United have been poorly managed over the last decade, but I hope you will acknowledge that Barcelona are an utter disgrace in their treatment of de Jong.

Sneaky, underhanded, deceitful, immoral, unethical…

I would rather get turned down by a player than be trying to defend the way my club has acted over the last 6 months. It has been deplorable and there is no justification for it.

It’s a black stain on the club and has tarnished their reputation. Everyone is joking about levers and with good reason.

Losing out on FDJ at this point wouldn't be as damaging as missing out on alternatives like Ruiz. Regardless of the outcome, this needs to be sorted soon imo.

Reports says 10 days to decide. 13th Aug is when Barca needs to register all their players for the league. So guess we will know soon enough.

Still very confident we are getting him. At least he had some sort of preseason

See some Chelsea noise about him, but Chelsea have signed:
PlayerFee
Raheem Sterling€56.20m
Kalidou Koulibaly€38.00m
Gabriel Slonina€9.09m
Marc Cucurella (Not yet complete)€59.70m
Wesley Fofana (Rumoured interest)??
Frenkie De Jong (Interest)??
Benjamin Sesko (Interest)??
Total€162.99 / £136m

Including the deal with Cucurella, so how does Chelsea afford that?

Timo Werner if he goes out on loan they don't get any profit from it, all of the players leaving have been free agents.

Chelsea are also interested in FDJ, and Sesko I can't see them really getting any more transfers through the door. Surely they are priced out of a FDJ deal. There's no way they can afford Fofana. Romano says that Fofana is willing to join Chelsea.

United have spent £60m, plenty more room for 2-3 signings.

I'm not defending the club for the situation it's in or the the practices of Laporta and co, he's a politician at the end of the day but he is still our best president, he's smart and he knows what he's doing.

I've said before I don't believe every media story about Barca treating Frenkie badly, if it comes to light that Barca really did treat him like that then obviously it's shameful. We have no idea what's really going on behind closed doors though, it's all guess work.

My opinion right now on the situation, it's being blown out of proportion. IF Frenkie is legally owed those wages, they will be paid before he leaves one way or another. If Laporta comes out tomorrow and says "Frenkie must go, we won't pay him anything" or Frenkie and his agent confirm that after the move, I will concede but until then it's hearsay and media speculation. We see idiots like Gary Neville encouraging a player to sue the club he doesn't even want to leave in the first place.. people have lost their minds during this saga.

It may have tarnished the clubs reputation in your view but for Barca fans and most importantly, top players, it obviously hasn't as the clubs pull is still immense. We can talk all day about Barca being shady or meme Brokeloana but in the worst shape we are still signing incredible players and they will be registered. Rightly or wrongly, you can be the judge of that but Barca are too big to fall - arrogant? Maybe but it's true. La liga needs us, Madrid and Barca venturing in to the Super league project together is also huge.

As a fan obviously it's bad that we are selling off parts of the club, no cule is bragging about that but it's the situation Bartomeu left us in and because of the way Spanish clubs are run, despite the risk, we can't just sit on our ass' with a mediocre squad, it just won't happen. Presidents make promises, it's political. Not asking for sympathy here either before people say woe is Barca, we got ourselves in this mess and now we must make tough decisions that affect our future to get out of it.

As for this thread, I think this will be my final post. I have no interest in arguing as I do respect United (my father is a huge United fan). I did think opposition fans were welcome on here but it seems if you stray from the majority, posters are ready to jump on you. Forums should be about different opinions not an echo chamber imo and that is what this thread has turned in to.

Its almost that i wish Barcelona comes to us in a couple of days, when they feel the heat that they wont be able to register all their players in 9 days - and that its very exposed this summer how they have handled their economics - not that UEFA didn't know before this summer, just that they cant pretend longer they don't know now that everybody involved in football, from supporters, journalists and teams in leagues and clubs people dont even know exist are starting to talk about their situation openly in media about the situation (how they can spend 100m euros and more this summer but not pay players wagers). If Barcelona SOMEHOW pull this one through (to not sell a player for a lot of money) and still will register all their players and not cash in big on selling a one starplayer or several players for 10-20m then this will be they final prof that UEFA and their FFP rules are a big joke and that we supporters should stop watching all UEFA tournaments (CL, EL,ECL) both live (buying tickets) or even on TV. Because this is killing football.

But what i wanted to say was that we should leave them hanging, if they contact us in a couple of days, then start negotiate with them for a couple of days and the on their D-day 13 of August, just say that we have changed our mind - and let them sit their with all their players and chose who not to register for at least 6 months or give us FDJ for 60m or else we just walk away. Last 6-7 years every transfer, we have been the underdog in every transfer, not matter the seize of the club we are doing business with (Ajax and specially VDS is always sending us and the player we buy a nice good luck letter och instagram post - but they still get as much as possible for the player they sell (lately VDB and Martinez) - i dont think ANY other club in Europe were ready to pay the money we did for Martinez and that is probably the only reason he is here - if Chelsea knew that Barcelona (of course) wouldn't all suddenly go all in for Kounde, he would have ended up there and for 10-15m euro less because he would rather play in a club that are more stabil then we are and are in the CLs this season and are more likely to invest more then us and have more attractive troop, at least on paper, then us. We need to get the respect we deserve back - both from other clubs and players, we are right now almost begging both Barcelona and FDJ to spend 85m euro on player that Barcelona are that worried about loosing with Gavi and Pedri in the club and getting back all the money the payed for FDJ when he was considered the biggest CM talent in the world (which he is not now) and he has not even been dominating the la liga, he has been nothing more then decent with some good games but we are so desperate both as a fan base and club that we will cheer like we bought Messi or Ronaldo in their prime years if we land this deal because we are not able to get the players we once could.

This club needs to start over, keep down the expectations for 1-2-3 years and give ETH time to try build up a troop from scratch, get rid of 3-4-5 players every transfer window and hopefully buy 1-3 players that will be players that are supposed to fight for a place in the 11 directly and hopefully have 1-2 players from the academy that are there to fight for a place on the bench at least if not the starting eleven directly, like Garnacho for example - what I saw in him against in the last game was the same thing that we saw in Ronaldo against us (playing for Sporting) and in his debut against Bolton - a young boy that believes in himself and that is good enough already to take Rashfords on left wing if we are playing Sancho in the RW position (because Ajax, as mentioned, are asking all suddenly 100m euros for 1 guy that didnt have barely 10g+10a in Eredivison).

I know i mixed a lot of points in this text, but i am so tired of other club and players using us to get max payed for players that are not worth 70% of their asking price - but as soon as we are the club interested the price is 30-40% higher, and we are both stupid and desperate that will pay it in the end - just seeing Maguire play, being our captain after a couple of months in the, costing us 80m, gives a headache).

I have so much more to write and cry over but my english doesn't allow me, because its not good enough, but i hope i made some of my points clear. Over and out (for now....).

Barcelona to their credit always act on what’s good for Barcelona as they 100% have to right now.

Our club is what is best for the Glazer family. Black stain or not you can see which club wants to win the most out of the two, it’s not United that’s for damn sure.

Ours is always “trust in the process” FC. Give us 20 transfer windows we still have deadwood signed by Fergie.

Fecking hell, brainwashed or what.
The entire post is hilarious but the bolded part:lol:
We got ourselves in to this mess so let's spend even more money to get ourselves out of it:wenger:.

So are we believing the story that La Liga audit results in €150m less than Barca thought? Has another source backed that up?

Think that would be pretty big if true. On the other hand, Barca hasn't shown even a tiny bit of financial prudence, so not sure it matters all that much
