Well that club is better run than the one you and me support so I would restrain myself about judging how they handle their affairs. They are a club that the best striker in world football left Bayern Munich for, while we are in a situation where our beloved Ronaldo is desperate to leave.

Barcelona???

If someone can't see how Barcelona are a worse ran business than United then they aren't worth arguing with. It's an astonishing level of stupidity.

Yep, there are different things here.

Run as football club and a business. As a business, we might be one of the better ones, on the football side, one of the worse ones.

Quite simple actually.

As oppose to the wonderful signings from lesser clubs like Maguire, AWB, Fred, Lindelof, James, Lukaku, Bailly, Martial, Depay, Schneiderlin, Rojo, Fellaini.....

You do realize our transfers have been shit for over 15 years, right?
I'd say these were at least generally regarded as good transfers or at least value for money:
Free: Cavani, Ibrahimovic, Owen
Sporting: Bruno, Nani, Ronaldo
Southampton: Shaw
Bilbao: Herrera
Ajax: Blind
Chivas: Chicharito
Wigan: Valencia
Spurs: Berbatov, Carrick
West Ham: Tevez
West Brom: Kuszczak (for a backup keeper, I think he was one of our better ones)
Helsingborg: Larsson (loan)
Spartak Moscow: Vidic
Monaco: Evra
PSV: Park, Ruud
Fulham: VDS
Everton: Rooney
PSG before they were a big money club: Heinze
Leeds: Ferdinand

All these in the same time period as the ones I mentioned earlier. Also, apologies for including Cruyff in my previous post, for some reason I mixed up arrivals with departures on that one, someone was correct to call that out.

I'd argue our best players are always either home-developed or purchased from "lower tier" clubs. Buying from Real, Barca, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern, Juventus, PSG is just not a great idea for us and as much as I will love to be proven wrong with de Jong, I just don't think we have a great track record with turning already-big-club players into working results for us.

Let me tell you why I think they are run worse than us.

1. Barca have had to pull economic levers to get signings.
2. They re-structured their debt in January, still they are in financial issues
3. They agreed to pay a player x amount but are backing down on that.
4. They owe players wages.

In respects to Ronaldo, just because a player wants to leave, does it mean a club is run badly?

Lewandowski said he wanted to leave Bayern, does that mean they are run badly?
1. What is so problematic about their supposed levers?
2. We are also in debt, 500m, as are other clubs.
3. How are they backing down exactly if the contract says this wage now, higher wage in latter stages of the contract? Did they not pay him money that he was supposed to get now or in future times that are yet to come? Are Frenkie and his agent idiots to not entertain the idea that he might not be here for the entire time of his contract length? Or am I missing something?
4. Owe them how? And why are they not sanctioned if that is true? It's genuine question, I know players like Pique took pay cuts, is that what you meant.

And yeah your best player and club legend wanting to leave you in the manner he does definitely tells a story about what is the actual state of the club. It does speak about the person he is, but also the shambolic state we are in, and have been for 10 years now. Or do you think young players out there admiring Ronaldo don't take notice?

Regarding Bayern there is plenty of evidence to show the contrary, they are one of the best run football clubs in the world, yet I do think that they did a mayor cock up with loosing Lewa. And their response this summer tells you all you need to know about the way they are being run. Compare that to ourselves.

The word extortion is in quotes so he must have said it..
Or some journalist tried to collect clicks and invent things like they do all the time.

Barcelona???
Yes Barcelona, why is it so laughable? They finished 2nd last year, in supposedly the worst year in their recent history, behind the CL champion, a year in which they lost Messi. Why do you think we are being run any better? Because in the last 9 years we have become a borderline top4 to midtable club?

My point is, many of you underestimate Laporta, they do have a plan and will solve this in their favor.

Am I missing something? Did Barca just post a picture of an explosion and a snake and for some reason the move Frenkie is done ? I Don't get it. IF United are done they are done and they will move on and say they are . Until then I honestly don't see what has changed in 3 or 4 weeks.

Nah, apparently, the snake tweet was in reference to Koundes goal celebration.
Nothing new on Frenkie at the moment

I don't want a player like de Jong here who obviously has little self respect for himself when he knows barca are treating him like crap and still wants to stay at his dream club

Actually, I think the reason he's still there is because he has respect for himself. Barca are treating him badly so he should forfeit money and bonus?

RVP?

So, put in his position, you'd walk away from so much money you felt you were owed?
He won't go anywhere until his money is paid, that much is pretty much certain

Nobody is forcing him to say barc is his dream club and wants to stays, surely he is clever enough to answer a question without having to talk up his love of Barca.

Yep la liga don't want a weakened barcelona. Spanish government will do anything to stop Catalunya uprising. Laporta knew exactly this.

So they will do whatever needed to strengthen their team and will get time to correct their finance. All the players will be allowed to register. Nothing will stop them.

I have never wanted a club to go bankrupt before as it's never nice for Fans, but i'd love to see that shower go tits up.

they're essentially selling their future earnings in the hope that the super league will eventually happen and they'll make it back that way.

WHEN De Jong signs i hope we never ever deal with them again.

But he's not said anything to anyone for ages now? Everything we have is second hand reports, or "sources". Nothing from him or his agent directly, and there hasn't been for a while. He's literally keeping his mouth shut

You don't put it in quotes if you're making shit up and Barca are an absolute basket case. It's laughable you consider them well run. If we kept buying shiny new toys while we sold away our future revenue you'd probably have a different opinion, unless all you care about is shiny new toys.

Yeah, I mentioned RVP and DDG as the two players I feel we've signed from top tier clubs that have worked out for us. Sancho could end up being there too. But even then, for all three, they weren't from the very top tier clubs like Real, Barca, Bayern, etc. Buying from them just never seems worth it in my opinion.

1. Losing out on long term revenue for short term gain? But I guess you dont understand it.
2. Yes, Barca are in over 1bn debt.
3. Frenkie is being told that he needs to take a pay cut, which means the money he was due to be paid over last few years, he will not see. Do you not get that? he is also owed bonuses.
4. No, they defered their pay, a big difference to pay cut btw.

Ronaldo leaving because he wants CL football.

Actually, I think the reason he's still there is because he has respect for himself. Barca are treating him badly so he should forfeit money and bonus?

No, they are treating him on a normal level again in asking to accept the new salary limit. Before that, he was spoiled by an unsustainable Bartomeu contract.
Laporta just wants to bring him down to earth again or ask him to leave. If he accepts one or the other or decides to stay spoiled, thats entirely up to him of course. We will see when the team is back from the states.

They are run even worse than us? Based on what did you conclude that? Based on Lewandovski being desperate to join them while we have Ronaldo whoring himself around Europe just to get away. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Lewandowski looking to join Barca says nothing about how well they are run, just as Ronaldo wanting to leave us says nothing about how well we are run. Lewandowski has always wanted to play in Spain and is coming toward the end of his career. Ronaldo wants more than anything to remain CL top goalscorer. It's as simple as that really.

Barca are, at the moment I would argue, the worst run major club in the world - though I'm no expert. Far worse than us, though we're hardly a bastion of sensibility ourselves. They're mortgaging their future in order to buy fancy new things which they barely even need, while forcing their existing players to accept lower contracts and using every dirty trick in order to pressure them into doing so. They're a circus, and a shambles of a club at the moment.

What their long term thinking is? Who knows. Banking on the Superleague paying off? Thinking they're too big to fail? Maybe the populists in charge simply don't care about the future, as the problems will likely be somebody else's to deal with by the time they really come to fruition. Either way, I think it's a shame to watch such a historically beloved club get dragged through the shite like this. The people in charge really do appear to be scumbags.

And to answer the question, I do think he will take a paycut, he is just trying to get the best possible deal. And on the contrary, can you tell me why hasn't FDJ or his agent come out and told to the public that he won't take a pay cut? I mean by most accounts they have a right and honorable case, Frenkie took a pay cut once, showed his commitment to the club and helped them when they needed it, now no more. He has been called out in public countless of times, he can fight his case if he wants to doesn't he?

Barcelona as a club is run a lot worse than us. Has United asked their players to take a paycut? Do they owe former players a large sums of money? Have United sold their future potential income to stay afloat for the short term?

Frenkie never took a paycut. He agreed to defer his wages, so that the club could stay afloat and be able to register other players. Manchester United have never had to do any of this. Heck, during the pandemic, the club took no furlough and did not lay off any staff.

So yes, as a club, United are better run.

'stay spoiled'

he signed a legally binding contract ffs, incredible that your talking about being spoiled when your spending money like a lottery winner when your 1bn in debt, owe millions in deferred wages and still currently owe over 100m in previous transfer fees

The only ones who need brought back down to earth are Barcelona, and apparently you.

Why all the despair? jamie jackson reckons we are still in

So you don’t have a clue. We got there.
Sorry, saying a transfer won’t happen with absolute conviction should not be that upsetting. If there’s people on here spending every day trying to convince themselves this will happen who get upset by that, then I’m very sorry.

I should specify I don’t know what’s going to happen but everything is pointing to this not happening.

I should also specify I’m not some evil “muppet slayer” here to break your heart, I’m just commenting on the way it looks. I would be buzzing if we signed him.

You actually wrote this and expected to be taken seriously?

These Barcelona newbies are hilarious
