Catalan radio in spouting Barca propaganda shocker! It’s not a case of ignoring but of taking it with many punches of salt and not getting suckered in by the politics.
He’s going to take a huge salary cut. Around where all their players are - it’s a massive wage cut - which ever way you look at it - propaganda or not.

That's a word-for-word copy of what ManagingBarca Tweeted out.

I wouldn't be surprised if UtdPlug just saw their Tweet and basically plagiarized it. As for it's source, here it is: https://www.ccma.cat/esport3/el-mercat-del-barca-al-detall/noticia/3177614/

The exact verbage of the passage of interest:

The translation as of Google Translate:

Honestly, that doesn't seem like anything particularly revelatory. This could easily be de Jong's camp being given the salary reduction request and then not coming back with an immediate answer, which is reasonable especially when considering a future away from one's dream club, in my opinion. There's much ado about nothing here, as usual; this is the same old information that the other journalists have received. ManagingBarca are just sensationalizing things as usual.

There is a report that he’s willing.
Do you mean this one?

But there are some things we can safely assume.

1 United are interested in signing FDJ
2 United have approached Barca about signing FDJ and a figure has been agreed.
3 United have been speaking with FDJ and have assurances he actually wants to join us......this has to to be true....right? Please??
4 FDJ has stated he is very happy at Barca and we all assume he's playing a game of poker with Laporte. However, he could also be telling the truth as #3 might not be true
1) Absolutely
2) Yep very true
3) I'd be very very surprised if we didn't have any assurances. It would make no sense at all if we didn't, and EtH doesn't seem like the type who would just blindly chase a player - look at Timber and Brobbey, both said they didn't want to come, both times we just upped and walked away moving on to someone else.
4) Yep he's stated he's very happy and would prefer to stay. No denying that at all. But in the last month or so, he's not said anything at all, so we don't know what his current stance is. We're just going by media reports and their "sources". If it's true and he doesn't want to come, then something has obviously changed, and we'd know about it because we'd likely brief and walk away.

They aren't clickbait paradise like us
That's one part (albeit small, in my opinion). The other part is that they treat their journalists incredibly well, so those same journalists don't write up pieces against their team in the same way someone like Luckhurst, Wheeler, Odgen, Anka, or Daniel Taylor would against us.

I’ve been on here long enough to have seen my fair share of Summers where Ronaldo and Ramos have used us to get pay rises out of a Spanish club.

I’ve never seen a player use us for a pay cut though.

Maybe there’s something to the link between heading a football and CTE.

Well if he does then will be serious eggs on our faces, particularly Erik who will take the brunt of it
But why? Only because you guys are making it so. Most people will see it as he tried for a player he really wanted and it didn’t work out. If it turns nasty it’ll be because a bunch of moany fans turned it that way

What an absolute dumb prick De Jong has shown himself to be over this saga. If he comes, he'll have earned himself very little leeway with United fans if he doesn't immediately come in and perform.

What is going on? I mean this link to United is long dead, but why is Barca pushing de Jong to lower his wages and why is he even considering it?
He could stay on current terms no?
Are they blackmailing him with that CB position? That really is bizarre.

The fact that they have nice weather and beaches really does afford Barcelona alot of leverage when it comes to players.

Everyone falling over themselves to be screwed over financially by them just so they can live near a beach and catch some rays.

It's a miracle we've had the success we've had being based in unfashionable northern England. Imagine where we'd be if we had weather and beaches as a tool in our negotiations.

Yeah constantly tell myself we would have walked away very early on if we had no assurances he was open to joining

No because thankfully not all fans are like you.

@Brownie85 its starting already!

Tell me your perspective on it then go on.

All we have heard for weeks is "ETH wouldn't go after a player if he didn't get assurances that's why the club negotiated a fee, look what happened to Timber they moved on to Martinez quickly". Clearly these are the managers targets the club wouldn't be the one forcing him to wait around would they.

I think we'd walk away now if he firmly didn't want to come. Makes absolutely no sense and if the board knows he doesn't want to come, why would we stick around knowing the press it's going to generate (bad press).
Why would we have gone to all the effort of renegotiating a fee to ensure it'd be something Barca would accept if we didn't have encouragement from the player to do so? I just can't get my head around why we'd do that

No offense but United really aren't looking like winning anything any time soon. Top 4 is certainly not a guarantee next season for you, PL will be very competitive, especially if Ronaldo leaves also. The only pull really is ten Hag and I don't believe that's as important as made out, I don't care if he wished him well in a video. Players will look out for their own interests first and foremost. I honestly believe had a CL club seriously come in for him, he'd be gone already.

As for how Barca are treating him, it's drama hyped up by the media who have nothing else to talk about. Where is the evidence he is being bullied? Gary Neville is a clown, most of your fanbase already came to that conclusion, he has no idea what's going on behind the scenes, nor do any of us yet big bad Barca are a disgrace! Oh the horror of it all.

The new wage cap at Barca applies to EVERY player. Nobody will be getting the ridiculous Messi style wages anymore, it was unsustainable. Frenkie would of known this before the transfer saga; lower your wages to fall in line with the new structure or you leave. MAYBE Frenkie rejected that early on hence the wheels were put in motion to sell him.

If the 17mil deferred wages was a legal obligation for Barca to pay, they would pay it. We have money to blow, that's no longer the issue it's the wages. 17mil is nothing if it means saving his ridiculous wages. The deferred wages shit is another misinformation; IF Frenkie has a case, join United and sue us. Come out and tell the world how evil Barca are treating you badly, staying quiet makes no sense, Barca won't be paying. I don't believe this is all about money or Frenkie being greedy at all btw. United would probably make him the highest paid player in the PL or at least equal if he joins you, the player doesn't want to leave his dream club.

In summary, I think he'll leave still. His position at Barca is impossible and no player is going to risk a World cup year in a hostile environment at 25 years old, entering his prime, just to stick it to a club. IF it truly is about deferred wages being legally owed, he can leave now and sue Barcelona. Simple.
If you have ‘money to blow’ then why not try to negotiate an exit strategy with him - rather than just saying cut your wages or leave? Nobody is going to accept that.

City went through exactly this last summer with Harry Kane, and they got away with little to no criticism.
Did City have their worst season in a couple of decades just before, while at the same time managing to, somehow, worsen their squad in the following summer?

Hard to judge without all the facts. Certainly not something to get all chewed up about before we have a resolution one way or another.

Except for the part where today a Spanish source considered highly reliable said he is leaving if he won't take a pay cut and United are the only club in the picture.

What is going on? Barca picked Frenkie's pocket for 17M over the last 2 years and want him to go away now and forget about that and he is digging in his heels to either stay on his full salary which they have unequivocally said cannot happen or he wants a settlement for his deferred money to leave. 5 more weeks in the window, why is everybody trying to rush this, you must all suck at foreplay.

He can stay at Barcelona with his full salary by simply doing nothing. He has a contract, they owe him the money.

As if they'd make him take them to court to get it... what can they do? Bench him, let him rot? So they still have to pay him and his value reduces?

Similar nonsense to them saying Dembele was done in January when he didn't sign a new deal.

Really bizarre transfer situation.
If he is planning on staying, he should refuse to take any pay cut and stay on his current contract.

What’s the worse that can happen? They won’t play him. Well they ain’t gonna play him anyway!

Like I said earlier it's not so much missing out on a player it's the fact he will neglect a key position rather than sign someone else

Me neither, sounds utterly implausible. I’ll say again, Barca have been playing games all along, they want De Jong for his prime years because he’s fecking brilliant. They want him on a much lower wage, and will do everything in their power to make that happen.
It’s why the Catalan press constantly slate the idea that any dickhead would choose United and money over Barca. It’s why they desperately want to slag United off, it’s why they constantly bang on about him loving the club and taking a paycut.
They think the United consideration is a bluff, because they are arrogant as feck, they negotiated his sale thinking they were calling that bluff, and now they are pushing their narrative hard in one last attempt to get him to renegotiate his wage.

You’ve left out an important factor, United fans or at least s portion of them like a good moan about the club. If it turns nasty it’ll be because our favs can’t accept that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t
