I think Frenkie will be done. They have had plenty of opportunities to lay this to bed.

It will gather pace as soon as their season is over.
I agree. I think all the "he wants CL football and wants Barca" are just media narratives to keep it interesting and agent talk for more money. If United can and wants to pay, we will get him. My money is on we will get him for sure. He is the foundation of ETH midfield rebuild.

Bayern seem to be sniffing around him if he doesn't end up renewing with Barca.

I'd give him a look as well if I were the club given our need at RW and the lack of transfer fee required for him.

Can't imagine Ajax would also sell us Antony if the Timber rumors are true and Raphinha seems nailed on for Barca. Dembele would be an exciting option

Personally feel we have to sign one of Dembele, Antony or Raphinha. Maybe say to Barca we will leave path clear for Raphinha if you sell us De Jong.

Don't you feel Raphinia is a bit over rated in terms of talent compared to Dembele or even Antony? He would probably be 2 times or more as expensive and I'm not sure he is half as gifted.

No Raphina is even a bit underrated IMO. Just because Leeds struggled so hard this season.

Apparently he's got a £25m relation clause.

I watched Dembele do things that I don't see Raphina do or even try. Not saying he is not a good player, but in terms of talent, I'm just never that impressed by him. Unless the previous poster is correct and Raphina is cheap, it would be a mistake imo to pay PL money for him rather then try our luck for a much more talented player like Antony or Dembele.

With Raphina I just get vibes of Young and Valencia. Good players sure, but a major departure from WC talent like Giggs and Ronaldo.

Xavi entire press conference can be summed up in one line “I like X player but we have financial concern”

Basically what you expect him to say

That wasn't my argument. Kamara seems to be described as a no.6 - my belief is that De Jong should be played alongside a no.8 rather than a no.6 and that that was the case at Ajax that season. A no.8 is, naturally, more of a box to box player than a no.6. I brought up Xavi because he is a no.8 who can be described as a deep lying midfielder. De Jong would be better complimented by a Xavi, Modric, Scholes, Veron, Seedorf, Verratti, Rakitic, Dembele, Sahin or Gundogan than he would a Pirlo, Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Thiago Motta, Jorginho, Rodri, Carrick or Pjanic.

I don't know how many times do I need to say this but the focus should be Ajax 18/19 not ''your belief'' because the argument started with trying to replicate the Ajax 18/19 midfield. In 18/19, ten Hag managed to make it work a system of no 6 played with no 6. So basically, not no 6. has to be played alongside no 8.

Ajax 18/19 played very different in comparison to usual 433 or 4231 or even Barcelona 433. So even if you use Xavi and Busquets example or Alonso and Khedira in Real Madrid, it doesn't support your argument at all because Ajax 18/19 is just different than the others. Schone's role in 18/19 is the discipline role as he doesn't get as much as freedom as FDJ and doing less work in dictating the tempo. Schone positioned himself like a deeplying midfielder position as shown in the pictures I showed you before. You are stuck in your ''belief'' of no 6 should have be played alongside no 8 to compliment each other so you thought Schone role was more no 8 when in reality it's not. FDJ's role was just much much deeper than a normal deep-lying midfielder, which is why you thought Schone gets license to go forward but in reality that it wasn't Schone gets license to go forward but FDJ was allowed to move deeper than centre back like a modern Libero.

And also I would like add this as well about ''your belief'' that no 6 should be played with no 8 to compliment each other. Xavi wouldn't be complimeneted if he plays with Pirlo because one of them must be sacrificed as both players assets are dictating the tempo and midfield. Therefore, De Jong wouldn't even be better complimeneted by Xavi and Modric because these players like to dictate the tempo or to be specifically, one of De Jong or Xavi/Modric would need to be sacrificed. Therefore, it's about the manager's instruction on the player and whether they can execute the instruction.

On contrary to Busquets and Xavi, it wouldn't be a big deal to take away Busquets's ability to dictate because he still has his defensive aspect to offer. This why I said if ETH is going to replicate that Ajax 18/19, we would only need someone who is comfortable to pass the ball with one touch from deep area without giving the ball away cheaply, can still keep it simple rather than be complicated on the ball, has good positioning, and willing to stay deep to provide balance for FDJ. That's what Schone as no 6 did in 18/19 and also why I picked Kamara originally because he's capable to do those instructions.

I'm pessimistic about this transfer. However, having worked with ETH previously and playing his best football under him, if FDJ REALLY has faith in our new manager, he should have faith CL football won't be too far away. Perhaps as soon as 2023.

Frenkie has unfinished business with the EL. Runner-up against us, humiliated by 30,000 Eintracht fans at home this season. If he joins us, third time’ll be the charm.

Truthfully if we're being dispassionate, it's difficult to blame anyone for avoiding United. History will only go so far and if you're not a United fan, the club has not much to offer right now besides money and the chance to work with a potentially great manager. We're not in Europe and it's no guarantee we will be next season. We were on the cusp of building something last year but instead of buying players to continue our trajectory, we brought Ronaldo, an injury prone central defender and a player who the previous manager didn't even select for half a season. We've spent >£100mn on right wingers with one of them playing on the left wing while the other two are still seemingly years away from being able to hold down the position if they are ever going to be good enough.

Unfortunately, talented players have wasted their careers waiting for our managers and execs to fulfill their empty promises around rebuilds. It's a case of the boy who cried wolf and until we go and actually change things nobody is going to believe in any project we try to sell. All we can hope for is upcoming players with a point to prove and hope that some quality players like FDJ decide the money is too good to refuse.

I'm pretty fluent in Spanish and I believe he says nos vemos en Manchester.

Having Young and Valencia in their prime would improve our current team about 1000%. Shows how far standards have fallen.

Hmm... a box... and he probably cleared his office? So... box office...? Oh, I know!
Frenkie goes to Hollywood!

Bit nervous about Gundogan wanting out and Fernandinho going. Big space in that midfield to fill… :nervous:
The thing I'm clinging on to is that Frenkie will want to be a teams first choice 6 (gasp! Number talk!) and Pep has Rodri.

Will take 60%
It's higher than I ever thought I'd go for Frenkie considering his weather talk!

Like I've said before, we seem to be the only club that gets sucked into these long, drawn out transfer sagas I swear. Maybe Madrid do too but that's only when they're trying to break transfer records for superstars.
