Frenkie De Jong | Performances

everyone has so much conviction when talking about what he wants in his life, career, what happened this summer

no one really knows.. but he is surely not happy sitting on the bench, especially with the world cup approaching
Van Gaal not calling De Jong up for World Cup due to lack of minutes would be juicy.

Feels like chasing after those girls that have no interest in you.

This feels exactly like the Sancho saga at this point. I can see us going back in again for him (because its us lets be honest).

Logic should dictate moving on to more obtainable targets but then again its us.

Cant see us signing Bellingham unless something magic happens.

Nothing alike really.

Sancho actually wanted to join but Dortmund priced him out of a move because they wanted to keep him another year.

Barca tried to force FDJ out the door and he still wouldn't join us.

I think it’ll be just like Sancho. Someone will get him cheaper next summer as Barca will be even more desperate to sell. A season of being frozen out and played out of position should make his position untenable. The flip side is there’s still a small chance he plays himself back into their best 11 in his best position.

Alike as in we spent all summer chasing him to no avail and then went back again the following year.

I doubt we'll get him, felt like the summer was our only chance and it wasn't meant to be.

After watching Barcelona live a few times, it’s pretty obvious why we want him. His positioning off the ball is superb. He’s always in the right place and ready to take it.

He’s definately a 6.

Q : Can Gravenberch do the role of FDJ ?

Bellingham can do it but he'll be way too expensive and we'll have a lot of competition on him.

Is he enjoying life on the bench at Barca? See he came on today in their one nil win.

Aside from odd games like Brentford and City, I've really liked having Eriksen in the team for us but I imagine this guy would play exactly the same role and probably to a higher standard. I was worried about De Jong's defensive contribution but Eriksen is doing pretty good as it is on that front and I imagine de Jong wouldn't be that different.

Clearly seems happy to stay there in minor role

I shouldn't really judge as i honestly haven't seen too much of him but he looks too good to be a squad player.

As i said, i've been impressed with Eriksen's role in our system and I think it's obvious why De Jong was wanted. Hoping he still joins at some point

Be surprised if it happens now and personally wouldn't be gutted if we moved to a Caqueret

It be great to have him in addition to Eriksen. I think De Jong would start most games over him but there are lots of games.

Murtough and co should use the scouting infrastructure to find talent.

What sense does it make when all the chips were in place for the move and the consistent message from the players camp was disinterest due to being committed to Barcelona. I don't think the deffered wages was that much of an issue either to cause a collapse but rather the players indecision to move. The club should look elsewhere it's not even a guarantee De Jong does well in England. Also remember the reputation Saul had in Spain at one point and the reality of his performances was diabolical for Chelsea.

Yeah amazed how much Saul flopped

Probably is the best-paid player per minute in the world at the moment. Mbappe must be envious. He has to work so hard for his measly few bucks a week as opposed to FDJ's leisurely stroll to afford him a Ferrari every evening.

Why were Frenkie and Memphis in London right before the transfer desdline? I‘m convinced they were there for transfer business, which fell through.

No way this ship has sailed. Barcelona are not exactly playing well are they?

Theoretically, do we think Casemiro and FDJ would work together?

He'd transform this team I feel. We've shown improvement but we still need something in midfield to elevate us to the next level is my observation. In a choice, I would choose De Jong over Bellingham. It's something of a trade off, as I do think Bellingham would add some needed power (that is finally accompanied with some quality) in midfield - but De Jong is more likely to help us wrestle back control of a game at the Etihad, for example. I think what Bellingham offers can be more easily found elsewhere, Jacob Ramsey, for example - or even Kobbie Mainoo/Hannibal over time. But the team needs a De Jong. Eriksen has class and can pass the ball well, but De Jong's ability to carry it, even against the very best teams, would be transformative. He can't be pressed, and would get us from back to front so often.

It would be a world class pairing. I think Casemiro - De Jong - Eriksen is a fantastic trio that can control games against even the best of teams. Once you have control of the game, then the front 3 can go and win it.

I'd say the only other players on 400-500k that sit on the bench are Ronaldo and casemiro...

Yes. Frenkie would play Eriksen‘s role.

We have no stand-ins for Bruno and Eriksen, adding a playmaker in January is needed badly.

Barcelona will (again) be in the Europa League by January anyway - just what he wanted to avoid!

I'm really hoping for an inter win Wednesday night, would be hilarious to see them back in europa.

If casemiro gets back to his best (which we saw glimpses of last night) I see no reason as why it won't, I go as far to say it has the potential to be a cl winning combo.
