Fredge | Deal done

I swear some people on here think transfers are as easy and quick as FM.

Has it really been that quick? Our interest in Fred hoes back a few months, di marzio reported a done deal a week ago and Fred and Shaktar themselves have confirmed our interest and bids. Waiting for Fred to be in London/north west England before moving the deal forward makes sense to me.

It's not even June yet and we've already got the "if it was going to happen it would've happened by now"

They tend to be that quick on the last day of the transfer window. :p
Fair! Probably through utter desperation though. I'd honestly love to be a fly on the wall of a Premier League club on deadline day.

That's because of the world cup and transfer window closing earlier.

For good reason. The window closes earlier and there is a World Cup.

Thanks for the breaking news, I wasn't aware

Di Marzio only said it was done pending medical 4 days ago. FOUR! The Brazil squad is about to travel to the NW of England for a friendly at the start of this week. The impatience of people in the modern era is staggering

Are people doubting this already? Patience is a virtue I guess.

Norwood has started following him on Insta apparently.

In terms of footballers only seems to follow United and ex-United players so I reckon it could be significant.

Also signing Holly Willoughby by the looks of it...

First Fred, now Holly Willoughby. What a summer this is set to be

Assuming that’s his actual account?

Edit: just noticed the date, may well be old news.

Some of ye are way too invested in "smokescreens". What do you mean by "if it was going to happen we would have had more movement by now". We've reportedly agreed a deal.

Reportedly agreed a deal nearly a week ago, no word from the the player or either club on any progress whatsoever. We had backups in place last year, it was all Morata until we ended up with Lukaku. I’m not saying we definitely won’t sign him, I just don’t think he’s first choice.

Edit: ok 4 days is not nearly a week, but still.

No progress because he is due in the UK this week for a friendly, it's not hard to work out

Impatience, even if it was a week it's only a bloody week. Transfers take time. Why would either club officially mention anything until it's done?

Are you one of those people who when they orders food in a restaurant, expects the meal to be served right there and then?! My 6 yr old son’s like that!

That would really be a brilliant signing!

Lukaku was alway first choice though? We didn't end up with him.

Er "Manchester United confirm agreement has been made to sign Fred subject to medical and contract terms, more news to follow"

Would that be out of the norm?

IIRC we did this with Zlatan and it took about a week to get him in for a medical.

It being announced a couple of weeks after news of a deal first breaks is also not out of the norm

Zlatan came on a free. Different situation.

Agreed, just seems a little off to me. I can appreciate Di Marzio has contacts who are agents so may get first wind, but I just don't think its impossible we've agreed a fee in principal for some low hanging fruit and are pursuing other, better, options before looking to go ahead on this deal.

It could just be wishful thinking on my part. I've not seen much of him and I'm not massively impressed with his YouTube compilations. He seems like a bit of an unknown quantity and he would be being signed for a key position for us. I'd rather go for a more known quantity. If he goes the same way as the other two Brazilian midfielders we've signed in the past were back to this seasons midfield again.

Fair enough, but I still don't see why the club couldn't have announced a fee agreed subject to medical if this was a done as Di Marzio says.
Because we respect the selling club too.. Could be any reason why we did not announce it earlier...
