Er "Manchester United confirm agreement has been made to sign Fred subject to medical and contract terms, more news to follow"

Would that be out of the norm?

IIRC we did this with Zlatan and it took about a week to get him in for a medical.
So? We don't do that for every signing, we're probably waiting until the medical is done to announce it, if we do have a deal set. We normally do that. Announcing before the medical like Zlatan is out of the norm for us.

Norwood is tier 0.5, he does photography work for the club and has done it for new signings (did it for Alexis Sancez I believe).

If the following is legit, then it's done deal.

Agreed. For most of our transfers, we get the "confirmed" news like arriving for medical n stuff through other media like Norwood or flight trackers first. Just look at the Sanchez deal - announced officially only after all was done.

Thanks for the breaking news, I wasn't aware

Di Marzio only said it was done pending medical 4 days ago. FOUR! The Brazil squad is about to travel to the NW of England for a friendly at the start of this week. The impatience of people in the modern era is staggering

Alright mate, calm down.

Because we respect the selling club too.. Could be any reason why we did not announce it earlier...

Selling club have already agreed a fee according to Di Marzio, it wouldn't be disrespectful to announce we had agreed a fee if we have mutually agreed one.

According to do marzio. Selling club might want to firm up their replacement options before announcing the deal. As mentioned many times, we seldom announce deals before medical, interviews are done.

A quick google search says we announced Pogba, Lindelof and Lukaku on this basis.

World Cup year right now. It wouldn't surprise me if the player/agent didn't want the club to announce everything in the lead up. It would be a massive distraction to both him and his teammates.

The upshot is that every transfer and every player is different.

But we have also not done this for many other deals. Besides, those announcements were after intense media coverage by other outlets like BBC, not just di marzio, and were all a couple of days away before the medical. This Fred deal has only really been reported by di marzio so far, along with Twitter n Instagram likes and follows.

Fair enough, we do need to get a move on though. I’m not being impatient. The window closes early for us this year, World Cup gets in the way, once players are in there national team training camps there’s nothing happening, then players want holidays. We need to get as much done as possible in the next ten days. So far there’s not a lot happening.

Yes you are.

Ahh.. but looking at our other transfer targets reported so far, only Toby is going to the world cup. Sandro,Fabinho and Bale are all going to be watching it from the telly like the rest of us.

What makes you say the poster you mentioned is Fontaine ?

I dunno. From the same country, both post in an obscure way and both are for some reason obsessed with Rivaldo clashing with LVG decades ago.

We should ask him to draw something specific and then compare it to his known masterpieces

From what I can see, Fred landed at Heathrow two hours ago.

They’re staying at Spurs’s training ground in London so it depends if he’s got some time to himself over the next couple of days, or whether he’s straight into lockdown.

Levy is probably blocking the move now.

@fontaine is back in the newbies and he's here to inform us how to pronounce Fred:

Fre dge?

I assume they believe all Brazilians here are Fontaine. Someone asked if i was Fontaine some weeks ago. I'm pretty sure there are some dozens of millions Brazilians following the Premiere League

Tried to find this guy you speak of and the page loads in error. Fontaine seems to be everyone, and yet he is no one.

Is Rivaldo still playing football in Brazil ?
Rivaldo is retired of course. Played for my team here - Palmeiras early in the 90s. Great player but used to lose the ball all the time like Alexis. Lost the ball to a Nigerian in the olimpics 1996 that lead to their golden goal. Like Ronaldinho the only time he played really well was in 2002.
