Freddy Guarin

Inter wants to get rid of Guarin, they offer him to every team.

If it's even true, it's because he wanted out. He signed a contract with them a couple of months ago.

Why does everyone hate him so much? He's a very good box-to-box player. Mourinho loved him when he was there and Conte wanted to bring him to Juventus (would have done too, were it not for an outcry from Inter's fanbase). Both of those managers are proven to know their stuff when it comes to midfielders.

He's played a handful of games in the same sort of position as a "#10" occupies, but his job was basically the same as Vidal's role for Chile at the WC.

IF we are selling Hernandez to Inter, just get cash in return. Don't want Guarin. Just get £20-25m or no deal.

Enzo Perez looked like he was on a different level altogether to Guarin at the WC and Guarin did look a bit gash....So If we're not going for Vidal and want someone else then Perez would not be a bad option at all

Because he has not tactical skills, runs a lot without producing, tries many shots most of them out of the goal

Few assists, few goals, bad team worker, lazy and inconstant.

Guarin's turd, Inter have been trying to shift him for ages, probably been linked to every club in the world by now.

He is not bad, but he can't play alongside Herrera (not maybe, he really can't imo). And there are a lot of better options outthere. I would rather take Kovacic from Inter, who is maybe not better yet, but can be great in the future and would suit us much more. Also Guarin never played for Mourinho under Inter. When he arrived there, Mourinho was already at Real. And the interest from Conte is also not comparable, they don't have the money for big signings and looking for bargains, a cheap "Serie A proven" Guarin could be a good deal for them, but he won't be more than a squad player at Juve, they are also interested in players like Muntari for example. We have our squad players, we need quality now. He is also 28 years old, he won't be a special player in his career anymore.

And only because Vidal played a more advanced role for Chile at the WC doesn't mean he is anywhere similiar to Guarin, Vidal was also a number 6 and a defender in his career, he is miles ahead of Guarin when it comes to defending (no need to mention that he is in general the better player at pretty much everything in his position).

After Brazils 7-1 defeat to the Germans.....Gustavo suddenly started looking a bit Fellainiesque
Well every Brazilian was shit in that game. Doesn't mean if I was offered the chance to sign one of Gustavo or even Marcelo, I would reject them.

Very true - I think I got mixed up with him allegedly going for Guarin at Chelsea.

In the case of Conte though, the interest is relevant. Just because they like their signings to be bargains doesn't mean they don't also like them to be good players. Vidal was fairly cheap from Leverkusen, Pogba was free and Marchisio wasn't nearly as highly regarded before Conte got to him. As for Muntari, I might quite like him as well if it weren't for his injuries, despite his poor world cup. You are right in saying they were looking for a good, proven squad player. However, such a player in their midfield would certainly be good enough for ours.

Guarin is a good player and I don't think it would be impossible for him to play alongside someone like Herrera. Kovacic-Herrera would be far more imbalanced.

On the bolded point, there shouldn't be much of a need to mention that Vidal is generally the best player at pretty much everything in his position (bar passing, which goes to his team-mate). It's pointless to compare prospective midfield targets to Vidal. The analogy between them was just to refute the whole "Guarin is just an attacking midfielder" thing that keeps being said.

I should probably make it clear that I don't particularly want us to sign Guarin - I know he's not the best positionally and if we want Herrera to roam about, he'll need to be paired with a more disciplined player (a Carrick basically). I just find it strange how quickly people will say that anyone who isn't Vidal or Di Maria is shit.

Conte wanted to get rid of Vucinic, and they agreed a swap with Guarin, but the transfer has been blocked by the inter ultras

The MUTV commentator mentioned us being "heavily" linked with him 2 or 3 times during the Inter match, hope he was just waffling to fill air space.

He is not in the top tier midfielders but nowhere near as bad as people make out. He is actually a vital player for Inter and yes they have been somewhat in transition since the all conquering 2010 side but he is a proven international player for a very decent Columbia. I'd like us to buy the worlds best midfielders like Vidal, Yaya, Pogba, Iniesta, Sweinsteiger etc but we may need to aim lower because lower than those five is still a hell of an improvement on what we have (Herrera excluded).

Like said in previous posts though I would love him to go to Juve as a certain persons replacement.

The thing Inter have undergone is something I'd call rapid decline rather than transition, to be completely fair. To avoid walking down the same path we should try not to buy players like Guarin who just fill spaces and go for actual quality, especially as Guarin absolutely does not fit the bill in terms of what we need for our midfield.

He is one of the reasons Inter are so average. He has a shot on him but so did Bebe. He's an even bigger idiot than Nani (albeit Guarin plays centrally) and will never reach a top club. Just like AC, Inter have filled their squad with average shite.

Hernanes is quality, as is Vidic, Icardi, Botta, Rannochia, Juan Jesus, Kovacic, and Taider is a great prospect.

I agree with not wanting him here or needing him I just reference him as being underrated more than he should be. Just my opinion. I do watch a lot of Serie A here in SA. We all know the league is nowhere near as strong as it once was but he is a decent player. I can think of worse a lot closer to home who seem to get more overrated than they should be. As for Inter I will stick with transition rather than rapid decline (if we have another shocker will rapid decline apply to us!?) they lost a great manager and some very important players. They are improving though and think they will finish a lot higher this season especially with Vidic who will excel in the slower paced league.

They finished 5th last season. They could probably get 4th, but that's about it.

Juventud and Roma are clearly better than them and by a distance but Napoli could be within their reach. Milan will probably fight relegation at this rate.
