Gaming Football Manager 2025 | Cancelled

I don't see the point if that's the case. People will say licences and obligations but feck that. You're almost 3-4 months before FM26 at that stage.

You absolutely can't ask for full price unless you want to look like absolute arseholes and surely Miles isnt that much of a cnut.

Decided I'm just not going to buy this.

Aye, think I'm the same unless it's dirt cheap on release as some sort of aplogy/good will gesture (can't see it  ) or looks amazing.

With the tweet you posted about a May release date then there has to be a huge chance the next one is later than usual too.

Sceptical it's even true to be honest.

Releasing it in May when the squads are about to be obsolete with the transfer window opening up is yet another feck up. At this point hold off on release and get all the squad updates in and make sure the game is polished and release in oct/nov either way they surely can’t release 2 FM’s within 6 months regardless

I don’t mind May so much personally, it’s a fresh cut off point before the new season.

In an ideal world they should have just skipped to FM 26 and released in December with far less pressure.

Before the new season but based on the season just gone. That's just wank. It's already wank that the game is usually released after the season has begun and is in full swing.

Yep, this could've been an ideal opportunity for them to skip a new engine for 25 and get 26 out closer to the season start, instead we're probably going to see them delaying future games later than November releases and it'll probably kill off the series altogether

For a game that is based on the season that is just about to end. That's terrible.

Wouldn’t bother me so much tbh but I get why some people wouldn’t like it. I personally like to have a fresh start at the beginning of the game and usually automatically sim a year to the following season anyway.

A May release wouldn't be too good for me, not so bothered about squads soon becoming outdated or playing a season that's effectively already happened as I tend to start with lowly teams whose players I don't even know anyway. It's just that club football dies down over the summer doesn't it? Not so hyped for it.

Don't mind early November as it usually is. SI need time to update the August transfer window signings, and it's not a bad release time in terms of Christmas being not that far off. A bit less relevent these days now that people have moved away from physical copies, it was always a nice stocking filler to ask for as a Christmas gift, and after that Steam vouchers or credit. When buying it myself there's still time off at Christmas for a lot of people and it's a good time to pick it up then when it's still relatively fresh.

If they were ever to get right on top of things an August release would probably be best with weekly transfer updates. Failing that, the first week of September. All to take advantage of everyone's enthusiam for the new season.

Bit mad they still haven't said anything

How bad can it be?

Saw something from a leaker (that apparently had the jump on the delay) that there's some sort of announcement due Friday.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Apparently SI are advertising for a Lead Game Designer

Was meaning to play another save but after reading everything I'm out.

Seems appropriate

They have rejected two job applications from me so im done with them. Only wanted to be an insider for the caf and tell @Berbaclass what Miles is really like.

I know you can get mods to do it, but I’m surprised they haven’t officially capitalised on peoples nostalgia for bygone eras by realising edition that start at specific years. Giving them the relevant squads that match the starts of that season e.g 95/96 and the regens are players like Rooney and co with relevant potential so you can try to rewrite history. I’m guessing licensing would be difficult.

Licensing would be difficult, and you're probably only tapping into an incredibly niche market.

For the most part, people want the most up to date squads, leagues, etc. which is precisely why Fifa/EA FC and FM sell so well year after year, despite essentially pumping out the same game with a new lick of paint.

OOTP (FM for baseball) does this. I think you can choose any start date as far back as the 1870s, and have the real players come through as you progress.

There's no way in hell SI would be able to produce a feature with that much substance, though. Promising something more than the usual squad updates and changed menu layouts has sent them into witness protection as it is.

There are thousands of relatively simple improvements that could be made to make the game better, outside of the engine. I mean look at https://basketball-gm.com/ - it's a goddamn browser game which still contains about a 1000 times more stuff than FM. All sorts of worldwide statistics and frivolities to play around with. The lack of anything like that is pathetic from SI. All we have is the shite 'Hall of Fame' that has been the same thing for near 20 years.

I honestly think the biggest thing that's missing is the ability to easily create custom competitions. The editor is an absolute ballache to get right.

Absolutely. Part of what you can only pray they are trying to fix by starting from scratch.

If there is nothing by Friday then I'm starting a new FM24 save.

I'm thinking of going back to FM14 and pretending like the last 11 years haven't happened.

I took over once Fergie retired, Liverpool never won the league, and City's one title win becomes nothing but a footnote in history.

Saw something from someone who spoke to one of the people who went to play the game last month. Played good in terms of match engine and everything and it looked much better in terms of graphics. Not FIFA/EA FC level but miles closer. There's a massive UI change though which he wasn't too fond of.

FM25 needs to be exemplary if SI want their reputation back. but there’s a part of me that thinks the game will be riddled with issues. There is a certain desperation about this release despite the early promise of what the Unity engine will bring

If the game launches and it's quickly found to have the same issues with the physical attributes being by far the most important (and not even just physicals, acceleration and pace do most of the heavy lifting) then it's effectively a dead franchise to me.

Agreed but FM have traditionally always over prioritised physical attributes. I just hope it isn’t as bad as the last one.

It's not about them being over prioritised, it's about them being all that matters. Some of the experiments had literally every other attribute set to 1, and they were still winning the PL.

Interesting. I didn’t know that. Yeah that really puts the game in bad light. Almost makes it pointless if that’s the case
