Gaming Football Manager 2025 | Cancelled

Running out of time (as in, literally 34 hours left) to hear anything before the end of January as planned.

Don't know how they've messed this up so badly. Alright, I've never been involved in game production and don't understand a thing about it and the costs involved.

Still, I'm sure it was mentioned at some point on this thread, there was something where they were hiring people familiar with the Unity engine 3 years ago or something? It's not like there's big changes in the game from year to year, so couldn't they have just kept working away on it in the background with 1 team of people while another team took care of whatever current iteratrion of the game we were on? Might have been too costly?

Still, if they could have done that, they wouldn't have needed to announce it was going to be avialable on a certain edition, just spring it on us whenever it was finally ready and everything else would have ran smoothly in the meantime.

I see some of the content creators are gettinga bit worried about no gameplay reveal yet.

The fact that FM24 has been ripped apart has torn a gaping hole in it for me. Training, shouting, coaches, 80% of attributes, all basically useless?

I could then accept that it’s just a more basic game than I imagined, just about, but the lack of communication and respect for the fan base is startling.

Even if news does drop tomorrow, why not even so much as a tweet or acknowledgment? Their PR and marketing is a disaster.

They clearly announced it so early to have an excuse for basically releasing the same game 3-4 times in a row and charging the full price for it!

It’s hard to find an honest angle with it all.

Eh, it's probably a result of what it always is with these types of things:

Poor planning and disorganization.

I wonder where SI go from here. No game, 24 is being pulled from Game pass, I don't know about Steam, potentially minimum sales if they do release FM25 so close to 26. The knock-on effect for future releases, a distrusting fanbase, etc.

However, I'm sure Miles will find a way to blame the customer base, because he himself in all his divine wisdom has no faults and therefore all humans should bow before his holy presence. I imagine that's how he thinks.

Yeah since most stuff don't do anything it means they've just added a bunch of new features over the years which basically amount to busywork.

If anything removing arrows and sliders for roles, has given the player even less control.
This is a game that started out with 2 pages, one formation with the ball, one without and complete control of every possible tactical position, width height on a scale of 1-20, with arrows telling players where to make runs etc... and now its choose a box with less flexibility and do loads of busywork.

The real No Mans Sky "a mile wide but an inch deep" was FM all along.

Is anyone else really not even arsed at this point? I'm not greatly interested in starting a game when the season is virtually almost over... they might as well just forget about '25 and concentrate on next year's game at this point.

Monumental feck up from Miles and SI.

Yeah, but there isn't really much to be arsed about to be fair.

Same, its so far behind. They have to release cause of licenses etc.. so we'll definitely get some kind of FM25. I just worry its gonna be a dumpster fire of bugs, issues, and stuff they were unprepared for with Unity.

I think we've learned SI's hidden attributes are Professionalism 3, Controversy 20, Dirtiness 21, Loyalty 1, Pressure 0, Adaptability 0 (can't adapt to new engines), Temperament 0, Consistency 20 (consistently shite)

Gonna be a weird scenario if they keep to their release date for FM26, they will essentially finish 25 and move straight onto 26 if they haven't already and if they have they must have had to devote half their team to it rather than give it the proper attention. It's just a total mess really.

Feel like we're either getting a half arsed FM25 or a half arsed FM26 or possibly even both.

I have a feeling what we'll get is a 2 decrement, so early March 25, January 26, November 26 releases for 25, 26 and 27. So essentially 10 month game cycles, because they can't stick to a late Feb, early March cycle given the season will be essentially over and its unlikely they'll have 25 run for 6 or 7 months.

Yeah I got the random urge to start a save earlier but that was immediately gone when I remembered how broken the game is. I knew they were circling the drain but I did not expect them to feck up so soon or so badly.

In a way, I wish I could forget about it being broken.

There's literally no point playing it now because I'll never be able to look past the fact that all I need to do is pick the fastest players.

12(ish) hours left to announce/reveal something.

I think it's dead, boys.

It does make you wonder how much of this would be happening if they had a genuine competitor. If another equally popular football management game was competing, I doubt they would be delaying (or cancelling) with no communication whatsoever.

When the streamers who have been to their offices, been involved in playing the game before the beta to show new features and as Lollujo said have signed plenty of NDA's over the years with regard to the their early access.

For them to now be in the dark like all of us seems really weird, the lack of communication in general has been awful.

It seems like they've been doing feck all of use for years anyway. Every new feature and addition has been effectively nothing more than a fresh lick of paint.

The engine is fundamentally fecked to the point that 80+ % of attributes are effectively meaningless, they've revealed that "shouts" do nothing, and the promises system has always been completely broken.

AI squad-building and matchday selection has never been great (and I believe almost entirely driven by reputation), and every version of the game ends up with some easily found set-piece exploit and tactic to pretty much guarantee you win every game.

One of the supposed good things about what they're doing is that it should be easier once this first one gets out to implement changes for future games. So a shorter dev cycle for FM26 should in theory be easier to do than FM23 to FM24.

This made me chuckle from the SI forums

Rainy weekend ahead where I'm at. Want to waste some time with a football management game, but like others in this thread feel a little apathetic to FM24 at this point. What to do? Download CM 01/02 (are there any 2024/25 database patches for that?), or another game from the past?

Yup, loads of updates patches available for 01/02, I am currently playing an updated version of 01/02 on my android phone via winlator...works well.
Still the best management game ever made.

Nice. Don't suppose you have any tips on a good patch/source to download?

It has been a shite game for years. I mean it's really not rocket science. FM12 is probably still the best one, objectively (FM2005 / CM0304 personally), ever since then they just kept adding more and more nonsense that degraded the game or was completely useless.

I just found out there is an update patch for USM 98 so I may just play that! FM been dead in the water for a while, I got into FM24 for abit with a PSV save but the media repetitiveness and social media feed - repetitiveness is just so unholy crap that it puts me right off it, I made my assistant do all the work but then players become butthurt etc, it's a mess.

CM 0102 / CM 0304 (I made some skins & graphics) for that game and UCM top my list

Ohh, any linkage for that?

The last competitor they had that took the CM series from them, sadly did a whole lot worse.

They've fecking blurred the release date from the announcement trailer. It's over.

As in the old trailer from ages ago?

Lots of comments saying it was only blurred today. Video is also only 4 months old and the description mentions the delay to March.

The trailer on Sega's Youtube page still says 26 Nov.

The trailer on FM also still has Out frow 26 Nov under the road map at the end.
