Gaming Football Manager 2018

Finally got the time for this, and started off at Salford to see how things can evolve from the bottom. Pretty good start, though I suspect they are probably too good for their level already.

This game is broken
I'm managing Spurs, won the title and the FA cup in my 1st season but added myself as the Spain manager just so I can manage in the World cup. When I selected the 'resign after world cup' option, my social media feed was full of Spurs fan saying stuff like 'cant wait to get a proper manager in'
The press conference was full of questions like 'You came into the club with high expectations, what went wrong?' For a second I thought I resigned from the club by mistake.
This has to be the worst FM ever. Still lagging in places and so many pointless features.

Anyone else get at least one injury crisis a season where at least 5/6 players are out for anywhere between 5 weeks and 3 months, but all in the same position? My injury percentage is low every season so it's not a sports science issue, it's just a number of players out together every season, all in the same position.

Season 1 I had Jones, Smalling, Bailly, Lindelof, Rojo and De Ligt all out at the same time for at least 5 weeks.

Season 2 I had Martial, Rashford, Martial, Mkhitarian, Mata, Dybala and Lingard all out at the same time and this season I have Matic, Pogba, Wendel, Fosu-Mensah and Herrera out so I had no central midfielders. Moved Alaba there and he picked up a knock in his first game there and is out for a month.

I know injuries are part of the game but these spate of injuries every season where all players in the same position together is unrealistic. It leaves you playing for a month or more with a whole area of the pitch made up of academy players.

Absolutely stormed the league with Salford and own the league in March. Let tons of players go as I was going to restock the squad, but before I managed to seal any new players the board put up a transfer embargo as the owner was looking to sell, and the embargo has lasted nearly the entire transfer window so far. My squad is so much worse than it was last season, with a much harder league to compete in... It's going to be a tough year.

Not a fan of games that are too lifelike.

When does the first big update come? I'd love to play this over Christmas but they really need to fix that fecking UI.

I definitely think it's a better game than FM 17 (UI aside) but has anyone noticed that almost no long shots or free kicks are scored anymore? I'm half way through the PL season and my players have scored 1 long shot, no freek kicks, and overall in the league I think 2 DFK's have been scored. Pogba is basically half the player he was in older versions for me as a result!

Lukaku is a fecking beast for me as a complete forward. He has 31 goals in 34 games so far. Martial, Rashford, Mata, Lindelof, Bailly are all great too. Mkhi is ok but constantly injured. Shaw has been bumped down to a very mediocre player.

Also it's always funny how bad Pep teams are in this. City are 11th in the league in mine

I went for it with a new game. Too many clicks as before but i'm starting to look past it.

Started my game in January with United (always hate starting at the first transfer window). Signed the Ajax lads Kluivert and De Ligt, as well as Ozil for £21m. I really need to sort my full backs and get a backup DM but not sure I have the budget now until I ship a few out.

Game is clicking for me now.

I'm using Ozil to help me tap up Sanchez for the summer  Should hopefully give me an edge over the long list of clubs i'm competing with.

I've also signed Isco for £60m, which may lead to me getting rid of Ozil anyway :D

Losing my best players to injury each game - quite early in my second season as well. Bit of a joke really, never remembering it being this bad.

Yeah it's pretty crazy for injuries, especially early in the seasons. Sometimes in games I have to use all my subs for injuries for feck sake.

In saying that, I still walked the league and CL in the first season with Utd. The AI seems as shite as ever. Martial and Lukaku are both incredibly good.

Signed Gelson Martins in the summer for right wing and he's a fecking beast.

It's always a pulled groin as well!

I've also shipped late equalisers in 4 games in this season, meaning i'm just 7 games in and have 5 draws. Worst form i've ever had on this game.

You are having a laugh. Three of my midfield options, not including Pogba who also went off injured in the same game within 3 minutes of coming back from a long term injury of his own.

For me, it's always the big signing. I had Dybala break his leg after a week, and Savic did his cruciate ligament a few days after signing for big money.

I swear next it'll be "Minkaro, you sit here next to club record signing...did...did he just explode?"

I holidayed until Christmas, Everton job was available. Seemed a good little challenge, lots of youth and I hope a decent budget in the summer.

Sold Besic and Robles £11m. Had a budget of £20m odd and got it bumped up by the chairman to £36m. Signed Akanji from Basle to partner M.Keane. Also picked up G.Simeone from Fiorentina.

Plan to try for Tierney to replace Baines and a right winger in the summer.

Injuries are annoying. Every one who plays down my left wing gets injured. Bolasie, followed by Sigurdsson in the next match. Also Sandro didn't score for ten games (some before I came in), scores 4 in 3 and get injured for 7 weeks

Try lowering your training workload.

This signing was far easier than it should have been.

Is it me or are these stats incredible for a 16 year old? Either way, he is now mine

9 inuries in 6 games :(

3 left wingers, forced to play Aaron Lennon as an inside forward.....but he scored two in his first game there :)

3 strikers, Sandro after a goal drought scores 4 in 3, sign G.Simeone, scores in his first game gets injured 6 weeks. Calvert-Lewin you are up, 2 goals then jnured in the next match Niasse is now in

3 CM's out. Klaasen, Gueye and Schneiderlin. Any more injuries in CM and I will be down to Rooney

Edit:

Klaasen was aready out. Pickford is my latest fractured arm. Also just realised I didn't register Steklenberg for Europa League.....D'oh

Quit. Restart save.

it's actually so damn easy with Utd because the AI s so shit. The other teams just can't hold a candle to me. I'm like City this season, 15 points clear by January with a game in hand (cause of the club world cup).

So yeah, bored now, what's a good low/mid table side to manage and bring to the top?

Rashford won world player of the year in 4th season. My 3 strikers formation is killing all the teams with ease.

Will start journeyman save after few days.

Haven't made my mind up on whether to get this or not. Quite enjoyed FM2017 despite shite like the social feed. Hearing a lot of mixed messages about whether FM2018 is great or shite; fanbase seems to be extremely divided on the issue. Is it worth picking up? Also do newgens look as shite as they did on FM2017? Waves of 16 year olds looking like Sir Bobby with orange fecking eyes was grating.

Always do my true save post January transfer window update, so till then I am going to start a new game with some random club and basically feck about (aka do a City and spend a shit ton to buy my way to the top)

Right, so I got this and started at United (in Dec 2017).
Snapped up Ozil and Asenseio (RMadrid chap).

Selling by the bucketload, any good signings I should make, esp defenders?

Finally bought this. Got it for my iPad though for the first time which I was a bit sceptical about but I’m suprised how well it runs tbh.

Started off as Everton and bought Blind and Moussa Dembele. Sold Niasse for £14 Million to RBL

Is it buggy on the iPad? A lot of the reviews say it is. Just wondered if that had been fixed?

Asensio is unbelievable in this. Good old A.I letting RM sell him to me for £32m.

He was transfer listed on my game too. Didn’t quite get him that cheap but was still a bargain. Isco was also transfer listed.

I warmed to this game eventually. The UI changes are still a joke but it’s another good version I think.
