Gaming Football Manager 2018

Oooh cool. Thanks

No probs. Once you've added it to the folder, in-game you'll have to go to preferences > interface > untick use caching and tick always reload skin on confirm then just apply and you're good to go.

Yeah I'm used to that from when I was playing past versions intensely. Great to see they keep some things the same. Thanks

Nigeria just won the 2018 World Cup in my save. 0-0 vs Uruguay in the final with Nigeria winning on penalties.

9 of Uruguay's 13 outfield players suffered an injury in this game... Suspicious.

Started with PSG just to get used to this as plenty were saying it's difficult; I usually start with a Championship side and was considering Wolves. Just completed a clean sweep in my first season (lost 1 league match all season and finished on 97 points), played errr Feyenoord in the CL Final (they knocked out Chelsea in the semis) with Cavani getting a brace and the game finishing 2-1 (I thought I would hammer them but it was tight). Cavani finished the season with 48 goals despite missing about 5 sitters per-match. I have completed my summer business before the summer has really started and Fabinho, Dybala, Bernardeschi and Rugani are all coming in

It's realistic in the sense that it's a job to get Lukaku scoring. In October and he's only scored five. Has anyone else had this problem with him?

I'm not managing United but I had a look at him the other day and he had a terrible first season. I see his natural position is as a 'Target-man' so unless your tactics play to the strengths of that particular role, he'll likely be shit alright. On another note Martial's stats look pretty terrible.

I don't think natural role is as important. I play with 3 strikers and played Lukaku as advanced forward, he scored good number of goals before getting injured. Don't know how he does in lone striker role, but with 3 strikers I never had problem with his scoring.

Also Martial is a beast in the game and improves a lot. I have read lot of posts saying he is a beast as inside forward but I played him as complete forward and he is just majestic.

Edit: Still sold him after 2 seasons, Monaco made a bid around 80 million and I just accepted it.

It depends really, I think natural role often plays quite a large part. I suppose it just depends on the overall system you play and how players adapt to it. I do try have all of my players natural to the position that I play them. I'm currently managing PSG so no chance Martial would get in ahead of Neymar, but when I had a quick gander at him, his stats didn't look too great and his numbers were poor.

Yeah he is still young with lots of room to improve. His initial stats are good already, well you played with Neymar so everyone's stats will not be good :D

I read in SI forums and many said same thing (including few mods and staff). Natural role is good to have but not that important. They said the same thing, just select the role and see the attributes highlighted, if you feel stats are good enough then it shouldn't be a problem. Sort of going with that since last year.

Btw, did anyone retrain Herrera to full back position? I remember someone did Ramsey few years back and it worked superbly for him as they possess superb attributes for full back position. Herrera might lack pace by couple of points though.

Haha, well tbf it took Neymar a while to get going and he was utter wank for my first few months there but that changed and when everything clicked into place, he was fantastic. I actually signed DDG over the summer as he was unhappy at United and they in turn, bought Aerola for pretty much what I paid for DDG :)

Aye, I just have a thing with natural positions, as I 've had some bad experiences in the past with it. In saying that, I play Rabiot as a BTB midfielder (not a natural position) and he has been class.

Same, I play Pogba in Mezzala role, it's not natural but he is class and contributes lot in goals and assists for a CM.

I used to do retrain a lot in previous versions, only for regens though as youngsters learn quickly. Pick up wingers who have decent heading, marking, tackling ability and train them as complete wing backs.

I'm taking my time with it. Coming to the end of my first season and I was 4 points clear at the top of the league with United and meeting Bayern in the Champions League Semi-Final. Had been rotating my team and everyone in good form so had slightly weakened teams for visits to Huddersfield and Brighton before the two Bayern games.

Beat Bayern 2-0 at home and 2-1 away and lost 2-0 to Huddersfield and 2-1 to Brighton and now Liverpool are top with 5 games left. Even if I win the CL I can't let Liverpool win the league. I'm going to have to prioritise the league from here on in. I can't be the manager to let Liverpool win the league

I've played 2 saves as United. Lukakau has been shite on both saves. Barely scores and always gets long lay offs. Only reason I'll be keeping hold is the lack of decent homegrown options in the game. Also Rashford has been shit in both saves. Martial improves steadily but not as good as he was in 2016 (I only buy every other year).

Dolberg, while injury prone, has been a solid option up front for me. Also Lingard is a very good backup.

Sounds like the real thing. Might consider this game now

So I just bollocked someone for a teamtalk and it said they "looked delighted"

Scene One, Interior: The Old Trafford dressing room. Manchester United manager Minkaro is ranting at Ethan Galbraith.

Minkaro: Ethan, you've let yourself down out there, and you deserved to come off.

Ethan: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Ethan Galbraith slides on his knees across the floor, as his teammates look on in bewilderment.

So it’s still suffering with this shit then?

I had a save on FM17 where Pogba became unhappy because I’d praised his form and he didn’t agree with me :wenger:

I play Lukaku up top with Martial IF LW and Lemar IF RW and he scores a ton, he currently has 16 league goals for me in December which is fine I think.

Martial also improves immensely after the first season for me, was inconsistent in the first season but is regularly assisting or scoring in the second.

I train him as an IF and put it to heavy.

Brexit is due to kick in on my game end of second season, Pogba and DDG have both took British Citizenship to help out the club.

Lukaku scores a lot for me in my save. I'll check later and get the numbers but he's in double figures in October. I play him as a target man.

Do you play Lukaku as a target man?

^ I've just signed him (well, my DOF did, I just let him) in the 2019 summer window, so hopefully I can get him to perform.

Speaking of DOFs, I always have mine making offers, which I then have to approve, just in case he finds something I might have missed. What there really needs to be is a way to go to him, and say what positions you don't want him to look for. Because he's obsessively bidding for wingers. We've already got Martial, Rashford and Griezmann on the left, and Dybala, Mkhitaryan, Kovalenko to play on the right. Plus the likes of Peirera and Lingard who can play anywhere in AM.

Meanwhile I'm scouring the world for a good RB and he's making offers for Coman, Zivkovic, Horta, I think he made a daft offer for Asensio that was never getting accepted. The man's got issues.

Let me know how Griezmann performs for you

Mine is doing this too, keeps making crazy offers for Yannick Carrasco when I have Martial, Rashford, Lemar, Angel Gomes, Lingard and Justin Kluivert all on the wings.

Lukaku update: Made him a target man in a 4-2-3-1 formation in last couple of matches, scored four in the Champions League (although it was vs Olympiakos) and one vs Newcastle now into double figures for the season.

Pace: 10. Unacceptable.

Pace: 10. Unacceptable.

I think you can easily train him to increase his pace, which will take some time but he can but on the other hand concentration 8 means it will take years to reach good level. That's the issue. Don't think concentration can be improved with tutoring also, it's always game time to improve that.

I was more going for the joke that Barry Allen is the alter-ego of the super-speedy superhero "The Flash" <_<.

Just finished the 19/20 season, and as @Macern wanted to know how Griezmann got on (after joining in the summer window), I thought I'd do an update.

19 goals and 13 assists (avg rating of 7.37) in 42 games is pretty good going, and I'm encouraged by the fact that he got better as the season went on, with 9 of those goals coming in his last 11 games. He came third in the club POTY voting with 12% of the vote, behind Dybala (17%) and Fosu-Mensah (63%!!!!)

I mostly played him as an Inside Foward (A) on the left in the 4-2-3-1, although there were times when he played as a Complete Forward (S) in either a 3-4-3 or a 4-3-3. I didn't keep track of when he played better, but I imagine it's similar for both.

In terms of the team, we won the treble. Beat Man City 5-0 on the last day to seal the title, beat WBA 2-0 in the FA Cup final, and beat PSG 1-0 in the CL final. Due to the rotation/keeping players happy, we didn't really see one player score a huge majority of the goals, but rather they were shared out. I'll show who got into double figures, with the appearances record after the /. So basically goals/starts(subs)

Lukaku - 23/31(6)
Griezmann - 19/31(11)
Martial - 17/23/12
Dybala - 14/33(10)
Rashford - 11/14(14)
Kovalenko 12/27(7)
Lingard 11/23(9)

So pretty good going, both for Griezmann and the club overall. I'm probably not going to bring in anybody major in the next window, because I think I need to let this attack settle and gel more. I do want a new rightback though, as the position floated around between TFM, Lindelof, Darmian, a re-trained Herrera and a 19 year old regen over the season, and none of them really did enough to convince me that the spot should be theirs permanently. I like TFM far more as a CM anyway.
