Gaming Football Manager 2014

Balanta's quality at left back, played him there quite a bit one save as even though he had great stats he used to make too many mistakes at centre half, he'd probably go on to be on of the best left backs in game if you used him & trained him there from the off.
That's what I was thinking, I played him there as emergency cover a handful of times and he always was fine. He's very fast, just needs a boost in his crossing really.

Aye he'd be great there I reckon.

Been looking at some more & weirdly Luke Shaw has good stats for a centre back, he's 6"1 aswell so that could be an interesting one to try out. I remember ages ago I was searching for a CF(S) and stuck some of the main attributes in and Goretzka came up. Might throw all of em in a team sometime and retrain them to these positions and see how they get on.

Yeah, I do that sometimes and the weirdest players pop up for a position.

I'd worry about Shaw's mental stats, but that's in general for any position, they're fairly mediocre.

I'm playing James Rodriguez, Januzaj and Mata behind the striker and they're on fire this season. :)

I honestly can not get a lone striker to score, just no matter what the player I'm getting no consistency from him.

Not played this as much last week or so, but I'm still tipping away. Won the CL group with Salzburg, over Barca and Monaco literally by scoring one goal more than Barca. Winter break is here, and bids flew in for most of my players in January, but none of them were near ridiculous enough to tempt me as I'm incredibly rich now and have no pressure to sell. I do have a bulky squad, but as they're mostly very young, I can get away with loaning most for the next 2-3 seasons. Just nabbed a class young striker on a free too, lands end of season, just to stop Austria Wien getting him. Chelsea'd the feck out of them.

So, I found my old copy of FM2007 and fired up a game as Aston Villa. Ashley Young is immense, but then proceeds to fall to a serious viral infection, ruling him out for 9 months!!!!

Also managed to get in Kranjcar, Eduardo and de Jong for a combined outlay of 7m. Winning!

Just signed a player dubbed 'the new Jay-Jay Okocha' only problem is he does't arrive for 2 more seasons as he is too young.

Southampton Save - Summer 2018

Having re-signed Chamberlain for a cut price of £12m because his contract was running low in January 2018, when I spotted 28 year old Gareth Bale's contract down to the last month at Real Madrid in May 18, I thought I would test his long standing loyalty to the club that produced him, and as I had managed to flog Wanyama for £19m to PSG to make room for my worldy regen CM in the team, I adjusted my budget to nearly all wage. I managed to offer him £280k per week with £16m in signing on fees, and to my joy he signed!

I will now present Bale AML, Chamberlain AMR to the Southampton faithful in the 18/19 season.

Just finished joint 2nd by the way, my team is full of amazing regens and one or two real life wonderkids that have turned in to world class players. Average age of the team is probably 22. The experience of Bale and the acquisition of Akinfeev on a free transfer is also a welcome boost. Around £30m in transfer budget still to spunk on some more regens too, I genuinely expect to win the league for the first time with them this season, this will be my 6th season. Whilst others will have no doubt won the league quicker with a team like Southampton, I decided to build with youth and do it slowly.

Just need Walcott now to complete the set!

If a player is interested in joining me how can I get them to hand in a transfer request or unsettle them? The club I'm trying to negotiate with won't accept anything that I offer them.

You just have to keep bidding and declaring interest in 'em in the hope it'll unsettle them. Not as easy to do as it was in FM13 but if you keep at it they should become unsettled eventually.

He has 19 passing and he's 21. Gerrard mentoring him has worked out really well.
Mentoring only affects his some of hidden personality stats, Determination, and sometimes passes PPMs, like Shoots From Distance, or Argues With Officials.

He'd have likely developed the passing anyway, but I'd imagine Gerrard has high Ambition and Determination, which would definitely help.

My game keeps freezing, any tips to stop this.

Making it unplayable, just won the league and the game basically collapsed.

You are playing for Liverpool? It was pretty easy for me in Villarreal to unsettle the one player from Udinese, he contacted me, saying that he will come to my club (I, myself, saw this wording the first time, usually it's just transfer request), I was excited as feck, approach to sign him and the little brat signed for Bayern  When he specifically said that he want to play for me and will go if I will handle the matter of his contract with the club. I felt robbed.

You probably has the better financial situation and reputation worldwide, so it would be more easy for you.

Found this guy at the start of the season just gone at Goias for 2.3m quid. Bargain. Had 35 apps across all comps for an average rating of ~7. Not bad in his first year

Tackling needs work, obviously.

I haven't played in ages. Doing a LVG experiment ATM. Put Shaw, Herrera, Hummels and De Jong in the team with now first window transfers and gonna see what happens.

Holidaying till mid season so see how Louis does.

Started a new Man Utd save, with updated transfers (LFCMarshall's pack). I added Herrera, Vermaelen + Shaw only, and moved Hernandez and Young to other clubs. Then I destroyed team morale in the editor, and started with sunday league footballer reputation, so the players would respond mostly negatively to whatever I said. Great fun. After starting I bought Martins Indi, Ginter, Williams, and Gauld.

Had a very difficult start to the season, as morale was so low, and tactics not trained, and my team was riddled with injuries (6-7 first team players) but I'm starting to slowly turn it around. I was very lucky to get such an easy fixture list at the start of the season, but struggled against a lot of lesser team, edging most games, but losing to Palace, and rescuing a late draw to Leicester. Then I fell out with Rafael who is now leaving in January (for 30M) (replacing with De Sciglio). Then De Gea was added to the list of injured first team players. The patched up team with rotation players and youngsters lost 0-7 to Newcastle, which kind of sucked, but bounced right back with 4-0 over QPR.

My job status was insecure, but is now back to stable, thanks to Van Persie sccoring in virtually every game. James Wilson doing well too. I'm trying to mould Rooney in to a CM, so he hasn't played much yet, but hoping he'll do well in central midfield. Training a few other players in different positions as well. It's been great fun so far, but it's depressing to not play in Europe. 8 points behind Chelsea (1st) after 9 games, but Top 4 looks to be within range.

I'm playing as Dortmund. Won the league on goal difference first season. Got beat in the last 16 of CL by CSKA Moscow.

Line up like this at the moment half way through second season.;

Weidenfeller
Piszczek Hummels Papasathopoulos Schmelzer
Gundogan Bender
Reus Mkhitaryan Suarez
Hernandez
Suarez is on loan from Liverpool, he was transfer listed and loan listed after an awful first season for Liverpool where they nearly got relegated. He's played ok since he came, nothing special. Not convinced I'll sign him.

Hernandez was signed in the first season to replace Lewandowski, and he's done more than that. First season he played 30 games in the league, and scored 27.

Rakitic is signed too, but he's more of a squad player. He can't displace either Gundogan or Mkhitaryan, but he's first choice back up for both of them. Jonas Hoffman has nearly put Reus out the team, he's been great for me.

Can you manage Japan on this? I know you have to delete the files in that /inc folder or whatever it is to make 'em an active team with real players etc. but is there any way to actually take control of them or not?

Really bored with this, not played for weeks and still haven't the urge to play. Might have a sabbatical from the game and wait for the new one to be released.

I hate this game. 90+4 of the final game, my players missed about 6-7 clear cut chances but finally manager to score a winner, but then this happens

lost on penalties, of course

There is something wrong with the way the game recognizes Clear Cut Chances. Shots from tight angles are often labelled CCC, and as a result, my strikers often miss them and get terrible ratings.

yep, of course, it's often misleading, but I hit the woodwork 3 times (not sure that all of them counted as ccc) and the keeper saved 2 or 3 shots that he shouldn't have saved.

it's not the point though, the point is the goal that I conceded :mad:

I feel you man. Had a similar thing happened to me. Clawed my way back from a 2 goal deficit only to have my keeper (who was in a fb position) pass the ball straight to the opponent. In the 94th minute.

The goal was declared a beauty. Probably because it was a 40 yarder, but I like to think its all the elements of the game collectively rubbing it in my face.

*Btw, I like that FM 2007 skin. I hated it when it first came out but it looks stylishly retro nowadays. No chance anyone's made a skin for FM14 in the same style?

Aren't injuries just great? :(

7 fecking first teamers decide they wanna get injured as soon as the WC starts

This is a joke ffs my keeper and centre half decided to get injured on top of all that, nicked a draw against Holland which sent me through to the round of 16 but now Nagatomo's gonna have to go in goal as I have no fit keeper and only 2 players fit enough to make the bench, one who's got a minor injury. I'm cursed.

I'm unsure if 2015 is going to be a brilliant game for Man Utd, or awful. All the FM/muppet signing will already be here.
I was thinking that earlier.

Especially if Balanta goes to Barcelona, or West Ham (was linked with a £6m this week). Angel Correa going to Athletico too, there'd better be some brand spanking new South American wonderkids :(
