Gaming Football Manager 2014

Just won my CL group(Juve, Dortmund, Dynamo) with a game to spare!

Roma have approached me to be manager though, 10th, and in an injury crisis, they have a 35 year old Evra on the books...... Save that for later.

Started with PSV in this transfer embargo save, plenty of quality youth as it stands. Very youthful squad as well which helps.

Team for the season (ages included):

---------------Zoet(22)---------------
--------Bruma(21)-Jorgensen(23)-------
Brenet(19)----Hendrix(18)----Willems(19)
---------------------------------------
--------Maher(19)---Schaars(29)-------
---------------Ruiz(27)-----------------
----------------------------------------
--------Locadia(19)---Depay(19)--------

Bench: Tamata(22), Koch(19), Arias(21), Hiljemark(21), Wijnaldum(22), Bakkali(17), Matavz(24)

Squad: Van Leer(21), Rekik(18), Ji-Sung(32), Jozefzoon(22), Narsingh(22)

Winter window was dreadfully quiet, sold my 2nd choice right back, cancelled the two loans I had in, sent about 5 players out on loan, and promoted two players from the youth team.

About to play Uruguay in the 2014 World Cup Final as Brazil, surprised I got so far but my team is getting better and better with every game. Even managed to smash Spain 5-1 in the semis thanks to a Neymar hatrick. Hopefully I can get a good club job after this.

edit. dominated the final 3-0, Uruguay didn't even have a shot on goal.

I have developed a great pattern for my Roma team.

3-6-1 with 3 central defenders, 2 central mid's with defensive playmaker and defensive ballwinner, 2 wingers with attack and 2 attacking midfielders 1 playmaker 1 attack mid. Then a world class target man striker who is just unbelievable. I play direct and they just all play off the target man, I went pretty much the whole season unbeaten until I started resting the first team for the CL after winning the league early.

Dominated in my first season with Barca after leaving Arsenal after my second season there. In the year 2020 and won the La Liga with 99 points and 110 goals and won the CL, beating CSKA 7-1 in the final. Messi is still class, as is Busquets as a ball playing center half. Probably gonna stay here for one more season and then move on to France or Germany, or back to England if no jobs pop up.

About to manage Spain in Euro 2020. Think I might leave after this as international management is a chore with having to handpick squads and all.

Beat AC Milan handily in the round of 16 in the CL, drew Anderlecht next, feck sake, first year past the group, and it looks like the semis are on!

I will get brutalized in the semis, though! Bayern, Real, City, United, Arsenal, Chelsea.....

@Solius

What were Wolfsburg like for cash and squad? Can't commit to a transfer embargo game, love my deals

Yeah they had a decent budget most seasons. My finishing high up the table helped though.

Can't remember exactly but it was always higher than 10m. Think I had 15 opening season.

I've just finished another season off this morning and United lost the league title to Arsenal on goal difference on the last day of the season.

Guess what though? Moysie has won the fecking champions league again!!
My last save playing a lower league Spanish club, Moyes won like 3 PL in a row and beat Bayern to win the CL. In another save, United became a midtable club with manager sackings left right and centre.

Yes. Been a free agent for about 8 months now.
I picked him up for one of my teams once, forgot which one, but he's untutorable. Really frustrating, ended up selling him. I thought it'd be cool to try and develop him from misfit to world beater, but he's just such a pain tobdeal with.

I signed him on a few saves, one for Arsenal, he instantly displaced Ozil, and never gave worse than a 7.5 performance.

I bought a Belgian kid called Vincent Petit, god he's so crisp at passing

Also, my main English striker - I have two, one is younger though - one the golden boot at the euros in his debut England tournament! Crazy.

Jesus, the players available on free transfers, or transfer listed, at the moment, I could build almost an entire new squad and be no worse off, probably much better.

Sturridge, Hernandez, Morrison, Rugani, Adler, Leali, Mascerano, Carrick, both Keanes, Cazorla, Chadli, Pereiria, Gaston Ramirez, Nathan, Sven Bender....

Shame my belgian kid is a regen, he'd be a great little player in real life!

So currently on an unbeaten run in first place, I wonder what I should do if I win the premier league. I doubt I'd get any job offers other than national teams though, but that's boring work.

My success is breeding a fantastic future. I start the 5th summer, the league has rose to 12th in the world, and now the winner gets automatically entered in the CL Group Stage. On a club level, for FFP, I'm at +175m, the club have given me 500k wages and 100m to spend. Not much I need to buy though. Have Rugani coming in on a free, probably sell Cardozo to make room for him, and city are taking my LB for 17m, he's wank defensively, tbh, but he'd handy as a winger, or CWB, and can score the odd goal from a free kick. He's Austrian, but I can bring my my leading youth LB who's also Austrian, to be my new 2nd. Or I could spaff most of the 100m and try and land Alaba.

I didn't realise my team played an FA cup match

Damn it, also apparently my best strikers agent wants another deal for him, despite being paid 120,000 pound!

So apparantly, the ex-Chelsea, current Man Utd-manager (in-game) AVB must've been scouting one of my or Rio Ave's players, when he decided to run onto the field, make a tackle and get a booking after 57 minutes.

One of my better moments in FM, and probably my very best at Salzburg.

They had more possession, but I was firmly in control. They scored first, Barbosa off a corner, pure fluke. My boys first goal came through picking them apart, second via pressuring them in their own box, and the third was a last minute devastating counter. The only problem is, we should have had 5, or 6.

Most happy that my substitutions worked perfectly, the striker I brought on getting the 2nd and 3rd goals.

Is there any way to sell players who have agreed a pre-contract with a club? Like when you sign a player on a pre-contract there's an option to buy him on the cheap, and I want the reverse.

I just signed a 33 year old Aguero and he's 4 stars, for 3 mil. Wow. JUST in time for my match against United in the community shield. He took a paycut it seems, but was somewhat impressed with my take it or leave it. Then again the bonuses were high . I plan to put him on the bench for that game, but how should I line up with him in the squad. I don't want a Welbeck situation with my Young 4 star potential striker, but then again at 33 he can't play twice a week. Should I play two up front, or three at the back. My 4 star striker is two and a half on the left wing :(

So here's the best 11 without him on paper:
Star means Regen.

Valdez/Newton*

Walker Lovren Shultzendorf* Robertson

Wanyama

Petit* Omerovic*

Deafeleu Martial Gauld

So a back three would be:

Valdez/Newton

Walker Lovren Thorne Shultzendorf Robertson

Wanyama Petit Omerovic

Martial Aguero

Meanwhile if it were 442 or maybe 4231 if Aguero is any good in the hole, does not matter, lets go with 442.

Walker Lovren Shultzendorf Robertson

Dealefeu Petit Thorne Gauld

Martial Aguero

A selection dilemma! Although apparently he is now a 3 and a half, which makes it easier somewhat.

I don't think so, fecking nuisance.
That's ridiculous. It's something that's easily fixable as well.

So I turned down a £25m bid for one of my star wingers from Bayern on transfer deadline day, the next day he announces he's leaving on a free and then the first day of January transfer window he signs with Bayern pre-contract. I'm going to cry when I see his worth come July 1 :(

I'm in a relegation battle, any advice on tactics to use for pretty rubbish players?

Can you do a Giggs on wingers and convert them to CMs or Ams. Or even a scholes.
Some players take to it better than others, depending on a hidden Versatility stat, and if starting from nowhere, you may not get an older player all the way to Natural(Acconplished is good enough anyway, unless the player has an awful decisions stat), but it's entirely possible.

I often pick up natural AMC's, and convert them to MC's, which isn't much of a jump, tbh, but they do great for the attacking CM in a 4-3-3 with no AM.

I saw a guy on the official forums convert Gyfli Siggurdson to a wing back, to suit a tactic. IIRC he wanted the wing back to be the main attack threat, bursting forward, cutting in and shooting.

If they have decent stats for the most part of the new role you wanna be giving 'em then they'll be alright with it after a bit. I got bored once and started fecking around with players in different positions on a save and Xabi Alonso turned out to be my best player behind Ronaldo for my Madrid side, was playing him at right wing back.

Would depend on the type of winger I'd imagine but the more creative ones should be fine with it after a while I'd presume.

I had Michu as a beast CM(a) one save. Always wanted to try Rodrigo Gomez as a wingback, and Balanta as permanent left back.

Balanta's quality at left back, played him there quite a bit one save as even though he had great stats he used to make too many mistakes at centre half, he'd probably go on to be on of the best left backs in game if you used him & trained him there from the off.
