Gaming Football Manager 2010

Isn't that just the 'real' gun players retiring and being 'born-again' as a regen?

It doesn't work like that anymore. Players don't retire then get recycled as regens, they're technically called "newgens" now because they're all completely randomly generated. As players retire newgens are brought in to replace them, yes, but that's only to keep the number of players in the game steady, and it's not a like-for-like swap.

I remember in CM03/04 I got several years in and was just about to quit the game when I stumbled across this 15 year old Brazilian RB... I kid you not he was already the best RB in the whole game at 15, and had caps for Brazil.

I couldn't believe how excited I actually got when I got to sign him for a nominal fee... It actually made me play the game for another few seasons! How sad!

I'll try to find the screenshot I saved a while ago...

 I think all FM (and former CM) fans have all been there before.

Here we are, I found my post from the FM09 thread. feck I want to start up CM03/04 again just so I can play this guy. Seriously his stats haven't changed since he was 15......

On my 03/04 Nurnberg/Rostock game I found a player who was already the best player of his position - and arguably the best in the game, all at the ripe old age of 15.

I've had him for a few seasons now, but his stats are the exact same as they were when I signed him.

I now present to you my favourite all-time player of CM, Vinicius Camargo:

Stats, and like I said they were exactly the same when he signed at 15/16 years of age:

His history: (best 300k anyone's ever likely to spend on CM/FM's)

 fecking look at those stats! 21 MoTM's playing at RB, and I wasn't even good with tactics... I signed him for my Nurnberg side and then as soon as I took the job at Rostock I needed him in my side.

I defy anyone to find a better player.

I'd load up my FM08 game but it's corrupted. :( One of my right-backs got double-figures in goals and assists several seasons in a row, best right-back I've ever had. But his PA was only 172 - if he had it any higher, he would have been insane. He never was a wonderkid though - I always thought he wouldn't make it, but he did.

Seriously I just put him at RB and said run with the ball. If I had him in any of my games now he'd be MoTM every single game, fecking hell I'm getting excited.

How do you find these good regens?

By having world class scouts and giving them assignments in random countries.

That's how I do it though, may be other ways that I don't know about.

Same. Couple of other good methods are to search filter players 18 and under at the start of each season and look for some of the highest valued. You'll also pick out a very good player amongst them, although some will need scouting to see the stats.

Another method is to search the big Under 19/20/21 International squads and scout the highest value/best performing players amongst them.

You'll always let one or two amazing players slip under your radar, which is highly annoying. I hate it when i don't have the best regen in the game, so I waste far too much time looking for them.

I defy anyone to find a better player.

I present to you, Sir Ian of Hughes.

The greatest player I have ever come across. Signed for 800k from Southampton at 16 and put straight into my first team, here are his stats in chronological order up to the current season:

Different position but, Henri Saivet.

In FM08. Better than Tevez,Ronaldo,Messi,Rooney, Aguero.

Sheeeeeeeyiiit.

I reckon we should make a madkhunt regen XI... My lad takes RB, yours takes Striker.

What's the fun of having a striker, THAT good? One player scoring 80 goals a season would make me want to stop playing FM forever.

So I decided to start my final FM10 game with Man Utd and one league only, knowing all the tricks and players, just to see how easy it'd be, I usually do this every year prior to the new one coming out of pure boredom more than anything. Usually don't do United as it's piss easy.

First season buys:
Rodwell £12m
Ozil £18m
Adler £23m
Jovetic £16.5m
Dzeko £22m
Sakho £22m
Moussa Sissoko £17m
Lukaku £6m

total is like £125m and before anyone asks, every single one of them is 48 monthly instalments as I won't be buying anything else for the next 5 years probably. Nothing was bought in the second season.

out
Wes Brown £10m
Park £5m
Possebon £2m
Carrick £12m
Gibson £2.5m
some others and loan fees

total was £40m in the first.

second season.
Owen £3m
Foster £5m
O'Shea £9m
Kusz £3.5
Tosic £6m
Berbatov £10m
De Laet £2.5
Obertan £5m

total with odd others and loan fees was £45m

I still use Scholes, Giggs & Neville, just like I continued to use Berba and O'Shea in the first as I like to bred the players, and I always like to wait until they know english until I make them a bonafide regular.

Dominated the league pretty much first season, won the fa cup and went out to AC Milan in some ridiculous game in the CL. Still in everything in January in the second season.

Cleverly is randomly a beast, has scored like 8 in 7 games for me recently. Probably have to sell Jovetic or something, but we'll see where I'm at when Scholes/Giggs/Neville retire.

just started again with sundeland and signed

enyeama
beck
jorgensen
otamendi
mattock
blanco
dzsudzsak
van der vaart (on loan)
fat ronaldo

as well as some good youngsters like

delfonouso
james
cleverley
sankhare
smalling
situ
viudez
eriksen

sold a few players and most are over 24 months transfers but I'm unbeaten after 6 games after beating chelsea and city.

Fat Ronaldo was quality for me. Got 27 goals in 26 games in my first season.

I keep getting the same problem - players worried about a lack of discipline, even though I've started fining 2 weeks wages for a red card. They want a player-staff meeting, but I don't have the foggiest on how to arrange them. Anyone know?

Assist for the season, never seen so many joint top like that before -_-

I also had Valencia on 9. Dzeko-Rooney 1-2 in goalscoring 25 and 23.

Brazil just signed me as their manager in September 2013, which means I'll get to manage them in the world cup of 2014 in Brazil :) They've dropped to 15th in world ranking. I'm usually loyal to united but I intend to resign after a succesfull campaign on home soil, might be good to bolster the trophy list to jump in the hall of fame list.

My first move was to remove all Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea players from the Brazil squad  and then bring in Fabio and Rafael, I currently have 4 of my own Brazilians in the starting 11. My regen Julinho is benching Kaká, the only high-profile players I intend to use are Cesar, Lucio and Robinho.

Seemed to do wonders for my reputation. Got hired when with Aston Villa, in 2013 too. Left Villa at the end of that season, and the Brazil job after the WC - where I lost to France in the final. Got hired by Milan at the beginning of the following season. Now I'm the no. 1 manager in the world

This is getting fun  I'm literally at war with Wenger.

Media publically announced that Mr. Jacob has something against rivaling players having Denilson, Lucas, Alex and David Luiz dropped from the squad.. then when I picked Denilson for a friendly Wenger withdrew him from the squad

I've taken mind games to another level, everytime I play Arsenal there is mass brawl in the media between us two managers, after wins I ALWAYS rub it in Wenger's face by claiming he was either tactically outclassed or lucky.

You know you can manage both at the same time? I was Uruguay manager at the same time as my club, won them 4 games in their qualifying group but then remembered they can't play in Euro 2012 and I'd have to wait til 2014 to manage them in an International tournament so I quit.

Yeah I know, im currently employed by both, but it takes too much attention off of United imo.

Would quit in your position too, I've got about 200 days left before my next Brazil game, sigh

I became the Brazil manager after they were knocked out of Copa America 2011 so have another 3 years before the World Cup. I'd resign but there is no better international option at the moment to go to.

I just searched Bebe.

They've got him down as a defensive midfielder. I am outraged.

I had a guy like that in '08. Yes it was kind of stupid, but there's nothing like subbing someone on in the 85th minute and then watching them get a hat trick in normal time. On multiple occasions. Ended up with 565 goals for the club.

Has Demba Ba been ridiculously good for anyone else? His stats aren't even that impressive, yet he's contributing a goal a game for my Hoffenheim side...

Meanwhile I can't get Chinedu Obasi to perform. He's a striker, but his stats are more appropriate for a Winger, though I don't play with wingers in my side.

Hazard has started to live up to the hype for me. After a poor start to the season, having an average rating of 6.45 and 1 goal up until the 20th of January, he's now getting at least 7.5 and has had 3 goals in the last 5 games. Competing with Ozil for the starting AMC position, and I think he might be nicking it.
