Why does it feel like playing away = extra difficult, yet playing at home seems to make feck all difference.

That's probably because you're shit

Sometimes you need to make changes depending on the opposition and the size of their pitch

I never do that. I can never be arsed. I've never had any problems though.

Started a game with Hoffenheim, and straight away both Obasi and Ba handed in transfer requests. I Should have tied them down with long-term contracts straight away. Hopefully we play well enough and they take their request back.

I signed (all my deals payable over 48 months): Annan (£2.5m), van der Wiel (£5.5m), Otamendi (£4.5m) and some other African midfielder from Rosenborg (for £1m).

I pawned off two of my CB's for a total of £8.4m, and Andreas Beck for £6.5m to raise some funds.

So far I've won 5 of my first 6 games, and I lost that game after trouncing them 18 (but none on target!) shots to 10.

Hows Hoffenheim? For quite a while I've been thinking of playing with them. I'll start off with them in the next few days I think. Ibisivic and Eduardo must be brilliant?

How important is a decent assistant, and who have you lot got? I've got Ole at Notts County.

It depends how lazy you are. I have my assistant organising friendlies, speaking to the media and doing the team talks. Also, i like my assistant to have at least 19 when it comes to judging PA and CA.

So for me, my assistant is very important.

I currently have Freund.

They've got a pretty good starting squad it has to be said. Though you'll get nothing by way of transfer funds (£2.5m) you'll have enough players you can pawn off to raise some good money.

You'll have to add to the middle of the park (Annan was my preference, cheap and an excellent beastly versatile player) - or the wings if you play that way.

I play a 4 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2, with a narrow diamond in midfield.

Hmm looks good enough.Think I'll start up with them , but should they not have more money? They have rich owners don't they?

No idea, maybe it was just my game...

I even told the board I'd qualify for Europe and I only got £2.5, I think it was. You'll still get deals done if you make them all payable over 48 months. They'd already bought a few players though, so maybe that's where all the money went.

He was like that in my first season. 2nd he got 24 but I had Pato so wasn't as reliable on Rooney. 3rd game of the new season and Yobo breaks his leg  Will miss 5-6 months but I bought Dzeko earlier so him, Pato, Berba, Owen and Balotelli can shoulder the goals.

feck me, how do you keep all of those happy at the same time?

:D I rotate Balotelli and Valencia on the right wing. Owen was 5th choice striker for this season (which I think is his last) but he might get the odd game against lower opposition and cups due to Rooney's injury. Pato is my main striker and can play on the right or behind the strikers also. Berba is rotated in.

I usually have around 25 players to keep happy - 2 in each position and a few extras and then I've no worry about injuries or anything

I rotate alot too, I can basically switch the whole starting XI and yet win away to Spurs.

I've still got the likes of Macheda and Welbeck as majority of the reserves are out on loan. Few decent regens in the u18s for the future. Just started the 3rd season.

Chicharito isn't on my game :(

Rio Ferdinand just scored a hat trick for me :D He had 2 goals from corners (:nervous:) against Fulham and I got a stoppage time penalty and he took it even though he was well down my list of takers  Never knew that they would ignore my pen list for cases like this but think it's great that it does.

How have you managed to buy Adler, Beck, Sissoko, Gourcuff, Ozil, Pato, Balotelli, Dzeko and Affelay in just 2 seasons?

Must be having unlimited cash! Not even sold too many players

In 2 seasons I've just had enough cash to buy Balotelli, Dzeko, Hazard, Hangeland, Lloris and around 10 youth team kids.

All this after selling loads and loads of players.

200m transfer kitty? How? First year you get $120m and around $40 the 2nd season

Pay everything over 48 months. Screws the team up in the long term, but let's you spend way more than you have.

How have you managed to buy Adler, Beck, Sissoko, Gourcuff, Ozil, Pato, Balotelli, Dzeko and Affelay in just 2 seasons?

First summer:

Adler 27m
Ozil 24m
Sissoko 11.25m

Total in 74m, out 7.25m (bought Annan and Berezutsky and sold for profit 18 and 24 months later)

2nd:

Pato 16.75m
Balotelli 20m
Beck 12m

Total in 57m (inc 7m Smalling), out 36m

3rd:

Dzeko 24m
Gourcuff 17.5m
Affelay free

In 44m, out 14.75m. 23.25m left in the kitty. Every purchase was cash up front. I can't be arsed with money over time or clauses.

Total in 175m, out 58.5m. Kept wage budget down to 1.35m by releasing Scholes and Neville after the first season and getting Giggs and Van der Sar on 10k a week deals which increased the transfer budget. You can get around 10m extra a season by maximising the transfer budget and completing the signings at the same time so being over wage budget doesn't stop you offering high wages as when you offer them you're under budget. Then just reduce it over the season back to budget with new contracts.

First year, you get 75 odd million with an option to increase to 90 million. Second season you get another 100 million. This assuming you don't request stadium expansion.
But Ronaldo VII explained his buys. It's interesting how he managed to get down Giggs salary down to 10k. He should have persisted with Scholes. He has high coach attributes on par with the best.

I find it hard to get rid of Giggs, Scholes, Neville. Yet kept them on :D

The board/fans slated me for a year regarding Scholes. Neville spent the first season in the reserves cos he couldn't play more than an hour and Scholes was doin well but stamina was an issue with him also. I probably should have given them 10k contracts for 2 seasons till retirement but oh well :D

How are people having Chicharito?

Yeah I gave them lower contracts as well. Giggs rejected a 20k a week deal so gave him 40. Don't mind paying that much for him. He'll be a coach for me once he retires :D

Chicha. Hmm I think people either edit him into the game or just choose Mexico as an active league. Or use a custom updated database.

I downloaded a transfer update and decided to give Portsmouth a crack, tough going so far. Entered administration so started on -10. I've promoted all the reserves to make up the numbers, made a few free signings and got some good loans.

Macheda, Nugent, Subotic missing off squad list.

I've got a bit bored of my Notts Forest career, so gone back to my United one for now.

Was thinking of demoting Mike Phelan to a coach and getting a new assistant manager in. Is there any point? Is Phelan one of the best? If not, who is?

Phelan is pathetic.

Suggestions for a good replacement? Massimo Neri I've heard is quite good, but I don't really know what I'm looking for with the attributes.

Awesome regen, too.

He's fecking awesome Jacob, I take it he's an AM?

Just got his first cap for Brazil and scored, he's an MC.

Picked him up for peanuts from Fluminese.

I have som real gems, 16 year olds playing regularly for me.

That's where FM lets itself down. I'm about 10 seasons in and the amount of fecking unbelieveable regens is just silly. Not realistic at all.

^

Isn't that just the 'real' gun players retiring and being 'born-again' as a regen?

Possibly. I havent got a problem with that, but they shouldn't be insanely good at 16yrs old.

Know what you mean, after about 12 years scouting the best players becomes so easy because there always so good even though there young. I'm about 20 seasons in with quite possibly the best squad ever and an average age of 22. I got so bored Ive decided to start again tonight. exciting.

I remember in CM03/04 I got several years in and was just about to quit the game when I stumbled across this 15 year old Brazilian RB... I kid you not he was already the best RB in the whole game at 15, and had caps for Brazil.

I couldn't believe how excited I actually got when I got to sign him for a nominal fee... It actually made me play the game for another few seasons! How sad!

I'll try to find the screenshot I saved a while ago...
