Gaming Football Manager 2010

Is Agbonlahor amazingly good on anyone elses game? I don't think he's dipped below 20+ goals a season (league) for Villa yet, and when I was England manager he scored something like 14/17.

For villa he was unstoppable but is signing for spurs after the world cup, for my England he has one shot one goal so I cant conplain.

I now have two 4 and a half star keepers that I came across on frees - Ochoa and a Turkish lad called Hidir Muslu (regen).

Massive upgrade from Chris Kirkland and some Belarusian loanee from last season.

Eugh, I hate Ochoa, signed for Arse in my game and always pulls off around 10 wonder saves against me. Nightmare.

I just got the game. Any hints and tips? I'm Manchester United and haven't played FM since 08. Tactics/training/good players would be extremely appreciated. Nothing too advanced yet, just getting to know the game.

I used to have Ustari vs me in FM 08.

When I played against ARsenal it would take me 20 shots on target to get a goal. He was just too good

Question.

When I try to buy young regen players and place in an offer for some reason there are multiple copies of the same offer put to the club. This means it takes an age for me to sign them and sometimes I miss out. Anyone know how to fix this? I think I have the latest patches.

Where can I get hold of the latest update? Eg. Silva to City, Villa to Barca etc.

can't sit around and wait for november, i just found a site with useful transfer updates. of course it ain't official but it still does the trick for that boost for a new game (chicharito )

FM-Base - Football Manager 2010 (FM10) Forum - Players, Tactics & Cheats - Football Manager 2010 Downloads - Summer Transfer update 2010 Across the World V3

 Same here, I can never wait till November for a updated version!

I've updated one of the updates from FM Base (great site for updates tbh!) with most the transfers up until today; it's here if anybody wants it. Not taking any credit, all work was done by kennyxx on that site!! :)

In the comments to kennyxx's update there are many complaints, eg. Gallas to City and scouts being all educated etc.

I never buy FM right away because it's always always littered with horrific bugs. I always wait for the first patch to be released at least.

FUUUUU

Ferdinand gets injured an cattermole sent off in my last group game, then Barry (basically cattermoles replacement) gets sent off within a minute, oh and I'd I mention this is against Italy? Arrrgh!

Yeah I understand the Rooney frustration. He's beginning to really piss me off too. He was unbearable in FM 08. Sold him within 2 seasons over there.

Having Dzeko, Rooney, Berba is not bad. Even I thought it might be one signing too many and on the first day of the season Berba got injured for 2 months. So it's good to have depth

The problem is Macheda has been incredible for me (if you call that a problem). In the second season I got rid of Owen and essentially gave his role to Macheda, who ended up bagging 22 goals the season..mostly as a sub. I was even playing him ahead of Rooney in the latter stages of the season.

So out of Berba, Rooney, Macheda, Dzeko - which one would you axe? (I havent bid for Dzeko yet, but if I were to get him I think I'd have to get rid of one of my strikers)

I'm tempted to sign him up, but then considering most my tactics involve playing only one up to, he'll be one striker too many.

It'll mean having to get rid of Berba, which at 30 isnt a bad idea...but I just feel bad doing so, in both seasons hes netted 30+ goals and consistently been voted best player in the league. I could easily off him for around £25million and sign Dzeko for £8million, making a huge profit, and if Dzeko is as good as you say he is then itll be like for like. And seeing as his younger I'll get more years out of him too.

Or I could get rid of Rooney, sounds ridiculous but his finishing really his abysmal in this game, ive lost count of the amount on 1vs1s hes fecked up. Oh and I can't really fit him anywhere in the system I play.

Rooney never seems to miss for me. Think he has 26 goals and I'm middle of December.

The game is trying to screw me over. I'm away to Everton and my assistant said they play well against 442, so I went 451. Then on the match screen, he has changed his mind to say they play well against 4451. I reloaded to see if it was bullshitting me and it says they play well again 451. So I change to 442 and go to game and in game it says they play well against 442  So basically it will change to play well against whatever formation I pick. My 12 league game unbeaten run will surely go.

Edit: Surprisingly won 2-0 away; Rooney scored 2 of the 3 1v1s he had :)

The assistant advice can get a bit weird, like how I saw a screenshot of someone's game suggesting Leeds struggled against 4-4-2. Well, Leeds were bottom of the Premier League by quite a bit - they'd struggle against 10-0-0, if anything...

Tactically I generally prefer playing my own formation and try to force the opponent to move against me, rather than the other way round, because if I have a working tactic I don't want to change it (in a major way) to suit the opposition. I'll tinker and add a few bits and bobs per match (i.e. target slow players) but in general I don't really change my tactic.

Ochoa, Dzeko, Hazard, De Rossi was my transfer haul my first summer. Muppets rejoice!

Who to keep, who to get rid of in the United squad?

Sell Fletcher, Carrick, Park, Tosic, Diouf over the 2 years. Oh and Foster and PIG too. I sold loads and loads of these players to get cash.

Well they come out with a patch within a week of release day now.

Keep all 4. I have the same quartet for me though Kiko is getting lesser games than I would like I can't really help it. He's happy and has a new contract :D
Well I'm out to Italy, 3-2 with us both scoring in added time, however we got a positive reaction from the media even though we lost in the second round, here comes the euros!

Haha what's your ranking now?

Yeah I don't even listen to what my Ass Man says about what formations to play.

Anyone?

Only happens on FM.

I rarely see the really good and big teams winning tournaments on FM.

It's always the likes of England or a Croatia who end up winning.

Yeah, i think my assistant wants me to lose. He kindly pointed out to me that Liverpool(i think it was), struggle when playing against a deep defensive line. So naturally right underneath that he advised me to play with a high defensive line!

I had gotten bored of this game recently, but I started a new game with City and am enjoying it a lot more. I got very bored of doing the same old shite and managing United. City's board objectives aren't that high, so I won't get sacked for not winning the league which happened me at United a couple of times. In my third season now, came 2nd my first season and it went down to the last day, ran away with the league in the second season, way behind Arsenal in the third but I am in 2nd. I can't win any of the cups though!

City's probably the best team to manage in this game.

Huge budget, little expectations at first, and the squad you start off with is very good. Makes for an exciting challenge trying to build a world class squad.

He's right it is a lot more enjoyable than United, the whole debt issue in the game really does cripple your ability in the transfer market as it does in real life.
