Gaming Football Manager 2010

10.3 is slightly harder than 10.0 and 10.1, thankfully.

Just went and drew with Wolves 0-0 away. Chelsea and City just keep winning right now.

What club are ye, Smashed?

Werder Bremen. I can't actually afford to take a risk on any potentially decent young players anyhow. I just finished second in my first season by one point (after leading the league for a good 3 months I collapsed with 6 games to go, losing 3 and drawing 1. D'oh) and my board decided to invest all the money in expanding the stadium and improving youth facilities. I'm saving the generous £3mil transfer budget they gave me in the hope that one day I can sign Kroos and have a German holy trinity of Ozil - Kroos - Marin. Unfortunately the longer I leave it, the more Kroos' value keeps rising and rising.

Bremen actually have a decent young team already. Some really quality young central defenders in Prodl, Naldo and Mertesacker and a good young full back in Boesnich. Ozil and Marin both 20, Almeida is only 25 (finished top scorer in the German league with me, playing the whole season as a loan striker) and Weise has a good 7-8 years left. I plan on keeping the core of the Bremen team the same throughout my managerial reign. It's only Frings and Borowski in the centre of the park who are going to need replacing any time soon.

Never noticed the corner bug, but there are a frustrating amount of goals scored straight from kick off. Literally, as soon as the opposition team takes their kick off they will pass it into my box and have a shot on goal. Happens almost every time without fail. It's hit and miss whether it goes in or not. I've lost count of the number of goals scored in the first 2 minutes, usually within the first 30seconds. It's not unusual for me to be starting a game 1-0 down inside a minute.

Really? I haven't seen a lot of that, I think. And I've got 400 hours or so on my current game.

And I don't think it's just concentration, since that should mean if they can keep their concentration for a long game. Though it may play a part then too.

Must just be my game then. But does anyone else find their goalkeepers have a tendency of throwing the ball in to touch? Ie they come from a cross, claim it, meander around for a bit and then merrily proceed to throw the ball out for a throw just outside their own penalty box? Followed swiftly by commentary of 'Wiese was taking no chances with that one'. You what? He had the ball in his hands you cocking game

feck sakes I bid £12mil for Defour and it kept getting rejected. Six days later Chelsea sign him for a fee of £3.4mil, eventually rising to £4.4mil. I don't understand this game sometimes

Happened to me a couple of times in my few matches so far in the season. But the difference has been that even my team does the same thing.:D

£14 million + Diouf, Hernandez and Welbeck for David Silva.

Do i go for it? I could probably make about £25m by selling them individually, but i'll only get 70% of it for transfers. Welbeck is the only ever so slightly promising one out of the 3, but i don't think he'll be good enough to hold down a starting place.

The other thing is....i have Gourcuff and Sneijder, i don't really need Silva, but for £14m and 3 players i don't need, it seems like a "why the feck not" moment.

Edit: Well, it fell through because Welbeck enjoys playing for me....i don't think he got the hint. Although, i'd like to thank him, i offered the exact same deal without Welbeck, the most promising of the 3 and it was accepted anyway.

Silva is wonderful off the left wing too. He crosses Dzeko/Rooney score. Simple as that.

I signed him, and managed to sell Welbeck for £8 mil in the end. So i saved quite a bit of money by him rejecting the deal initially.

I just lined up for the 1st game of the season and won 8 - 0, with a team that is a muppets dream.

---------Adler---------
Rafael--Vidic--Rio--Evra
--------Rodwell--------
---Gourcuff--Snjeider---
---------Silva----------
---Rooney---Berbatov---

Adler and Snjeider both signed for around £10m (can't remember the exact fees, both were transfer listed.)

Silva, Gourcuff and Rodwell all around £15m.

I still have £80million to spend, and could do with an amazing striker. I was close to signing a £10m + Nani (doesn't fit my formation) deal for Dzeko but i ended it. Was probably a mistake, because the most i'm being offered for Nani is £12m.

With player sales, my net spend isn't very high at all, which is suprising considering my jizz worthy team.

Get Toni Kroos, he always turns into one of the top 3 players on the game and you can convert him from a world class AM to a world class forward easily enough. Best thing is he's usually available for about £9mil in the first season for some reason. Course you have to wait until his loan finishes. Plus he's young so you're going to get 15 seasons out of him, if you can be arsed to play that long, or your money back with a lot of added interest if you decide to sell him.

Get Pjanic. I had both him and Kroos in my team, and it was pretty great. I'd keep him as a midfielder, though. I paid some £40 million for him :p

Ha I had a £6mil bid accepted for Kroos in my first season with Parma, but try as I might the fecker would not accept the contract. It's almost as if the game knew he would never accept a contract from Parma, so let my stupidly low bid go through in order to get my hopes up. Of course this was followed quickly by great frustration and rage as I offered him contract after contract and requested an increase in wages time after time after time. This whole charade went on for about two and a half seasons with me growing angrier and angrier before finally admittding defeat.

I'm sure the game just enjoys winding me up to be honest.

I got Dzeko in the end for the same deal as i pulled out of previously. I couldn't shift Nani, even though his first season was decent.

I don't have room for another midfielder at all, especially attacking. I had to sell Carrick just so i could keep them all happy without having to rotate another. I have Silva, Gourcuff, Snjeider, Rodwell, Fletcher, Hargreaves and Ramsey fighting over 4 midfield positions. Thankfully, i don't think it will be problem with Ramsey and Rodwell being so young

As i am typing this post, I've just been offered Rossi for £7.5mil, ffs. Too many bargains floating about! Do i do it?

My strike force atm is Rooney, Dzeko, Berbatov and Macheda. I'll be playing 2 up front, and i have a 16 year old regen with very promising stats in the U18's.

It's up to you- it's your game! I don't like having a large squad, and probably have my squads too small as I often suffer from the 'Villa effect' of playing an almost identical team game after game and eventually having my trophy challenges succumbing to injuries and fatigue towards the end of the season. Having a large squad obviously has difficulties of its own as well though, but just play it how you want really. That's the fun of it.

I accepted it. It was too cheap to turn down, he's accepted he'll be a rotation player, and i'm thinking i can sell him for a huge profit a couple of seasons down the line if finding a place for him in the team becomes a problem. Real Madrid are always looking to pick up my scraps on this game.

I've lost my enthusiasm for this game. This is wierd, because I've always been able to play it

Same here. FM 05,06,07,08 I played like crazy.

I averaged 20-25 seasons on all of them with United with ease.

With FM 09 i managed half a season and went back to 08

FM 10 has been slightly better but again i'v just managed 2 full seasons.

Couldn't make it up!

^^ I had the same scoreline and same minute for the goal but just a different scorer....Owen! :D

Wish it had been 4-3 though :D

Top 3 goals of the month all mine. THis is a first for me in 6 years of FM :D

That I have managed to do. Getting all 3 plauers and young players and Manager of the month but i never quite managed to get all 3 goals of the month. Would always fall short at 2!

I think the game has got to the point where it's essentially FM07 perfected - barring a couple of tweaks and balances, it's got a good interface (barring the stupid colour scheme), a really good match engine, a nice game flow, a nice level of realism and it's fairly quick.

I'm hoping FM11 will move on and add lots of bells and whistles to make the experience more immersive. I don't like saying this but in this area Football Manager can learn a lot from EA's FIFA Manager and BGS's Championship Manager here. Little touches like splash screens for European competitions, fan interaction and set piece creation make the game much more immersive. I'm hoping the following are introduced - not improved upon - in FM11:

- Training - Other than the fact it's wrong (Passing is an attacking move, apparently) and unrealistic (I bet Phelan doesn't move sliders around to organise training), the game needs an entirely new training module.
- Scouting - While it's been improved drastically, all you do is send your scouts off and they pull up big lists with ~50 players having 3.5 stars. I mean what good is that? Imagine going to your boss with a list of 50 prospective companies and saying, "They're all roughly as good as each other, boss. Go look through them yourself." I'd like smaller, targeted lists. I'd also like to see scouting vastly improved in terms of scouting knowledge (you can bet Fergie doesn't know every single player in Scotland - so why does he get 100% scouting knowledge of Scotland?) and things like a scouting network (i.e. you can set up bases in different continents or countries, but they cost more money to maintain than a scout - but they lower traveling costs and store knowledge permanently). Head scouts for continents too and so on. A whole new hierarchy of staff was proposed and I liked that idea.
- Transfers - I'd like a bit more personality to them. Things like future promises ("I promise that by age 19 you will have made at least 10 appearances for the first team"), agent fees, what position they are expected to play in... And so on. Transfers should take prolonged time to complete, not just 2-3 negotiation screens for transfer pricing.
- Stadium creation - This idea gets shouted down a lot on the SI forums because "it's not Football Chairman 2011". On the other hand I think it would be fecking cool to design your own stadium and look at it in 3D. Imagine designing your stadium deliberately small so the noise levels are that much louder, or watching the development of the North East quadrant of your stadium that is temporarily shut, being expanded upon during a derby match. Or seeing that huge screen in the stands displaying your team getting thrashed by your title rivals. SI don't even need to license the real stadia - just give players the option to design new ones, possibly, expanding on these default designs.

Along with that x stuff like setting up youth systems abroad, if you know what I mean, training camps to find top spaniards. Contractual clauses would be Great too, imagine moving for a top player who requests a certain squad number?

x42bn6, it sounds like the game you wants is FIFA Manager, to be honest. They have most of those, but it's still a terrible game.

Personally, I'm very happy with FM10. I think it's a very good game.

I just think I'd be disappointed if FM11 is essentially an "upgrade" of FM10.

The game has sort of got to the point where it's got most things right, so it's time they tried something new.

I can definitely agree with that. Though I remember the uproar when they went for the 3D camera (which I use, and quite like). It's still basically the same game as CM2, but then that is probably why people buy their games. I wouldn't want it to turn out like FIFA Manager, with a lot of very polished, fancy features, built around a pretty poor game.

For FM11, I can see them working on the 3D view match view more, the transfer system needs tweaking (as always), press-conferences, etc. I'm not sure we'll see any big new features, but who knows. Truth is, I'll probably (definitely) buy it anyway. I always do :nervous:

Exactly. I don't want FM to turn into FIFA manager which is just a joke of a game. It's all about graphics and looking good but the game itself is quite poor.

The 10.3 patch has made the game much more fun and slightly more challenging.

Just came back from 3-1 down at Spurs to grab a 3-3 draw with 2 late late goals from Owen and Vidic.

Just a point above City now. City Spurs and Chelsea are all right behind me

Another thing to add to the list of this game's retarded shit...

I just lost 3-1 away at Spartak Moscow in the CL. One of their strikers came on and scored a hat trick. He literally played like Fat Ronaldo circa 1999. I thought to myself I've got to buy this guy he must be amazing. He was fecking SHITE. fecking shite. Not even good enough for the conference yet he scored a hat trick of beautiful goals against an unbeaten team...

I've started a game with Heerenveen in Holland. Allowed myself the luxury of buying my old favourite Lacina Traore, and then stuck to players I'd not bought before. Won the league in the first season whilst making an £18m profit on transgers, so the board thought that might be a good time to slash my wage bill (or force me to) and give me £1m to spend. I finished fourth.

That summer they gave me £10m to spend but forced me to let go of players to keep the wage bill steady, or have little or no money for transfers. I have a young lad in the u18s that's scored 59 goals in 32 games this season. He's fecking shite.
