Gaming Football Manager 2010

"Yung n learnin" and all that.

 I've won consecutive seasons of EPL, got a treble just the year before, and the pundits are putting me at 3-1 for the title, with Man City at 4-5 or 7-8.

Wouldn't mind putting a bit of my transfer budget into wagering!

Shitty have become really strong in 10.3. Their level with me now after 20 games

For anyone that hasn't actually purchased this yet btw, i know it's not long till FM11 (well, 4 months,) but i noticed this is only £10 on shopto nowadays.

Anyone else find Everton just the most cnutish team to play against in the game? 6 seasons later and they're still a nightmare. Played them in the FA cup semi, they bet me 3-2 thanks to 3 30 yard wonder goals. I had 7 clear cut chances, they had none. Sigh.

Oh, and at 37 years of age, Tim Howard still gets 8+ on ratings against me, always.

In my game they finished seventh in the league in the same season as making the champions league final and beating me in the FA Cup Final. :(

Game sucks. No Peoples Rooney aka North Korean Rooney aka Jong Tae See in it :(

I downloaded a custom database. How do I install it on a mac?

Having realised I've yet to manage a top level side on this version of the game, I've taken a break from my Dale management and taken over Juventus

Second in Seria A three points behind Inter mid December, but the form is very good, and its built on clean sheets. Only signing I made pre season was Gonzalo Rodriguez at centre back

My philosophy is to play with wing backs in attack and defence. The posted formation is attacking, I have a counter attack formation where I drop one of the strikers for a defensive midfielder and I use that away to the top teams. Beat Roma, drew with Chelsea, lost by a goal at Inter with that

Newest regen striker:

(Technique 12, work rate 15). I'm delighted with that, the technical stats are all good, as are mental (maybe creativity could do with some work?), and the physical stats are good too. For a 16 year old, he looks amazing.

Spent a bit much on him though, but I have faith (as you can probably see from the No. 7 shirt).

Bah bastardo, went exactly 1260 minutes without conceding before Genoa scored in a 2-1 loss against me at home. They'd had one disallowed moments before so I knew the writing might well be on the wall. Good effort though, necessary because I've had to win a lot of games 1-0. Still second in the league though (by a point), and ridiculously, two teams even before I conceded that goal have conceded less than me in the league. Bloody Italians

The state of that. Milan have conceeded six goals at the half way stage, they have the best goal difference, and yet they're THIRD

I lost two games on the trot the first month of the season, but have responded brilliantly since, hopefully can keep it up and overtake Inter

That was short and sweet! fecked it off now, I suddenly started conceding goals for fun, and my previously magnificent formation became a bag of wank, simple because of some artificial construct that after six months, my tactic has to stop working. Never mind I was running separate away tactics alongside. It might not be 'cheating', but it's fecking dull to play when you know that's gunna happen

How many times does it need to be said? Tactics don't suddenly become crap. Not if they're any good, anyway. I used more or less one tactic for at least 7 seasons with Roma, and then the same tactic for Everton.

You used the same tactic for 7 years? I don't even see the point in that! Must be a dull way to play the game surely

And you probably keep needing to say it because people keep showing you evidence that it does happen. My tactic was very good, and it suddenly became very shit. I've played the game for aons, I know the score

Hehe, I see. So if your tactic doesn't work anymore, it's crap, and if you make one that doesn't fall apart at the first sign of resistance, it's just boring. Well done.

And I've probably played the game for at least as long as you. And I used to be in the "game wants you to lose" camp. It's like x42bn6 says, the opponent may start to learn how to counteract your tactic, and if you're not flexible enough to change it (or change it mid-game), it might fail.

No, but it just seems quite a dull idea to play the same tactic for seven straight years. Each to their own

My tactic wasn't crap, it was very good, as proved over half a season. Then for no particular reason, it was utter shite. It feels a bit artificial at times, it's why I always get bored with the game, but remember the good times enough to want the new version when it comes out!

Listen, we all know the score with FM, but niMic's dad invented it, so you're not going to get anything other than him defending it furiously.

i tend to go with one of three basic formations/tactics and then adjust it with touchline shouts depending on the opposition.

maybe stating the obvious though, but you need a tactic that suits the players in your team - as long as that is the case and remains so then the tactic should still be effective. I predominantly play a narrow 4-2-3-1 (2 CMs, 3 AMs) because I have a lot of good central playmakers and i play with plenty of fluidity and creativity - meaning the AMs and striker will happily drift out wide now and then to provide the width that the formation lacks.
As time goes on (in the game) and my squad changes however, I may find myself with more strikers and less midfielders and need to have a change of tactic to accomodate it rather than trying to stick with the same old thing but with the wrong players.

Anyone like to point me in the direction of a cd crack. I think the game accidentally went out in the bin when during a mass clean.

To be honest mate... the programmers of the game come out time and time again and say that tactics can not be 'cracked' in the sense that they suddenly become shit.

There are plenty of factors which can decide why you are dropping points - Teams may be altering their tactics to play differently, a sudden unlucky result and bad team talk can seriously affect morale (keeping positive is essential to minimizing bad form... once the red arrows appear you are fecked, keep them green baby!) and also maybe your tactic just wasn't as good as you thought it was? Just cause you've hit a hot streak with amazing players and good morale it doesn't mean you've got a great tactic...

I know it's frustrating cause I've had times when I've spiralled into dramatic loses of form but then I've had times when I've dominated leagues and the teams around me challenging for the title have suddenly become very shit. The computer isn't programmed to cheat, not in the strictest sense or any sense.

Also I think a lot of people play the game something like this - Boot up, spend hours fine tuning tactics, training and buying players... then switching it off when they lose their first few games as if they somehow have a right to win. But then something happens... you actually have a good start for once! Awesome! But low and behold... it soon starts getting difficult and once again people start accusing the game of cheating. Really though, most people just don't understand the fundamentals of the game and think it should be easy to win and you should be able to win all the time. I'm not saying you're one of those, since you said you've played the game for a long time... but that surprises me since if that's true then surely you've had your fair share of success and should know how to deal with bad form? It's a natural part of the game.

I'm shite at FM2010 I've decided. I haven't put much effort into it, but is there any disadvantage to putting match speed to the highest and not watching the matchplay? I find that really dull, and it slows my PC down.

I'm just downloading it now for my computer actually as I haven't got it on here.

Oh and best tactics for the United team as you get it first in the game?

You do realise I've been playing this game since the mid 90's?!

I didn't need 'the lecture'. Thanks all the same though :D

Haha yeah it was more aimed towards everyone that posts that sorta stuff rather than yourself. I can see you date back to the very origins of this game... but that's why I don't understand why you think that way about tactics turning shit!

It must be that post-game rage... I've been there... it's why I can't play it anymore.

I had the most incredible record against them in FM 07 and continued into FM 08.

Never won ONE game at Goodison in 31 years combined between the two.

The creators of Championship manager were Everton fans, the team used to be quite over rated in those days, maybe a little bias still in there

It bloody well is. Their impossible to beat away

I took over Nigeria before the WC 2014, just because I wanted to participate in the WC. Wasn't left a chance by anybody, but ended up group winner with 9 points in a group with Saudi Arabia, Scotland, and Spain, scoring a decent 6 goals and conceding 0. Beat Spain 3-0.

Went on to take out Holland, Ecuador, and then lost to France on penalties in the semi final after finishing the game 0-0 (it was 6-0 in big chances in my favour). Met Spain again in the match for third place, and won the bronze. Conceded 1 goal in the whole of the tournament. I think it's the biggest achievement in my history of football manager, even though I didn't actually win anything.

was sitting in like 6 with united after buying the likes of balotelli, di maria, rodwell. january came, i was 16 points behind spurs who were first.

im 9 points behind with 6 games togo now! there is hope!
