Gaming Football Manager 2010

Had to start a new game because of a corrupted save file. (May my regen centreback rest in peace).

As Vidic and Ferdinand start off injured, I had to use Cathcart and Jonny Evans as my CB pairing. Cathcart's exceeded all my expectations, helping us win all five opening league games, and even scoring a goal.
 
Anyone in need of a goalkeeper try Remy Riou. This guy has been immense for my Saint-Etienne side. Great on the line and rushing out, plus he doesn't get shy on crosses. Also with the penalties, it's more unexpected that the opposition scores than the other way around.

Brown's busy being first choice rightback.

Suppose I could try and dig out Gary Neville from whatever dark corner he's lurking in, and go Neville - Brown - Evans - Evra.

Cathcart's being excellent though, so I might just stick with him as Ferdinand's due back soon.

signed him from Lazio for 15 million, him and Badstuber are my new CB partnership, hope it goes well!! next target is a poacher with decent pace, any ideas??

For what it's worth, I'm about to start the Championship play-offs with York having had consecutive promotions from the Blue Square North. It's perfectly doable. Good youngsters released from the Prem (Eikrem, Priskin, McGinty), decent loans and strong formations have done the job. I'm really skint too
 
That's primarily a defensive attribute, actually. Something a central defender really should have (I consider it almost as important as tackling, marking and heading). The "positioning" stat for strikers is off the ball.

They really should have a short manual where these attributes are properly explained. One place to get it is the FM Live online manual, actually.
 
So I got York to the Prem, and I've got to say, it was very disheartening looking at that start of season squad report thing. Fair enough, I understand us being amongst the worst in the league for technique and touch and passing and dribbling etc., but do we really have to be the shortest in the league as well?

2 mates of mine playing a network game and donning suits complete with button holes for the FA Cup final where they faced each other.
Getting Yeovil to the Champions League Final after 9 seasons and losing 19-18 on pens to Barca

I hate this game! Took York to Anfield, Matic equalized with 10 minutes to go then Moses won me a penalty. Soren Larsen hits it straight at the keeper, then Kallstrom scores for them with the last kick of the game. Rock bottom after 5 games

Just signed Akinfeev for 6 million, i already have Gomes and Boruc...have to get rid of one of them, will probably let gomes go as i can get more money for him. i am building a very good team, signed Asamoah as my new DM alongside Veloso, Badstuber has been brilliant for me, Otamendi is still settling but looks like im gonna have a very good CB partnership, need back-up for Defoe reckon im gonna go for Saviola, also could do with a full-back...
 
Is there some sort of secret to scouting young players on this game? Every time I send my scouts out, I always get

Why do I never find the 'high recommendations' I'm relatively sure my scouts have never picked up anyone with potential over 3 stars, and all the decent cheap players I find are ones I usually stumble across myself by accident.
 
At higher levels the scouts rarely find players that they "highly" recommend, because those would be top, top players. They usually won't highly recommend players that are just three stars, and if you're a top side, those players could well turn into very good players.

Besides, they're far from perfect, so a 3 star player could turn out to be the best player in the world. You have to look at their stats yourself, and just take a chance. It's more miss than hit, but the few hits make up for it.

Another way to do it is to regularly check youth teams of big teams or international sides. Or search for, for example, players 17 or younger who are in an international u21 side (and then look at the ones that aren't from Angola and Bermuda).
 
I signed Pato for 78 million, he played well during the preseason and in the 2.3 matches, after he disappeared, completely...

I don't know, I will try him till the end of the season, and maybe I will try to swap him with Benzema, Ronaldo or Pique
 
I finaly got around to buying this :lol: Better late than never....is the new layout easy to get used to? I remember not liking it in the demo

am i the only one that's had any luck with VDV???? I got him very cheap and he scored 20 and assisted about 15 in his first season...i won the league and he was my best player!

I've gotten quite used to it now. It probably is much more intuitive than the last one, it's just that us "veterans" have gotten so used to it over the years.

Remember to download the latest patch.

I picked him up on loan as cover for Modric when i was United. He was brilliant.
 
the thing is you need to give him a lot of freedom and little defensive duties, his shooting and passing are great but his work-rate is not the best, if used properly he is very good IMO!
 
Sigh, just conceeded a last minute goal, which is a sure fire indication I won't be winning any of my next few games, no matter what I do

Getting a little bored of not scoring from any corners, and worse, two or three times a game the ball falls to my man on the edge, he plays it out wide... guess what, corner taker hasn't got back onside. Again. Sigh...
 
You need a better corner tactic, then. I score a lot of goals from corners. Try focusing the corners to the far post, with your best header there. Have someone with good jumping challenging the keeper. And don't crowd the area too much.

The challenge keeper thing is a massive bug in the match engine. I love it :D
 
I used to have a central defender who top scored for me one season on a previous game with about 30 goals due to that. But I resolved not to do it again, it's just distorting the game. Sadly it's gone the other way now despite a few variations. I'm not really too bothered about that, it's the bug that means my corner taker is caught offside 3 or 4 times a game that irks

Ok i finally got around to getting this, and started a games as United.

I've bought Romero in goal, a young Real Madrid winger called Raul and Dzeko.

I'm playing a 4231 and Rooney just behind Berbatov is working really well, although i lost to Stoke for some bizarre reason.
